Bob here, I’m bubbling with excitement as I share the delightful escapade of my Valentine’s dinner with my humans at the most recent pop-up by Raw Bar Oyster Co, hosted in the charming Sookram’s Brewery in Winnipeg.



My humans have been on a quest for the Raw Bar Oyster pop-up since their fall birthdays, keeping an eagle eye out for announcements.
They had missed out on all the previous events; they were selling out so quickly!
But then, a few weeks back, they spotted the announcement for Sookram’s event and quickly snagged a reservation.
Finally, the day had arrived, and I was ready to soak up all the fun.
Sookram’s Brewing is like a hidden treasure, a speakeasy tucked away just off South Osborne.
This place is a true gem for beer lovers.


Their family-friendly taproom has a vibe that feels like your best friend’s cozy living room.
Perfect for a few drinks and a friendly board game competition.

Founder Andrew Sookram transformed his homebrewing passion into a community hub, crafting modern brews that everyone can enjoy.


When you walk in, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, complete with fluffy cloud decorations that make you feel like you’re having a picnic while sipping on craft beer!


We were soon ushered to our reserved table, beautifully decorated for Valentine’s Day and fully equipped for a seafood extravaganza.

The first mission? Choosing the perfect brew to pair with our feast!

The amazing ladies behind the bar offered samples that made the decision deliciously difficult.
One of my humans, not the best at handling beer, opted for a refreshing cider that hit the spot, while the other human was thrilled to find “Stay Gold”, a light ale on the menu.
Talk about a match made in tastebud heaven!

Then came Chef Crawford, a seafood wizard, shucking oysters like there was no tomorrow!

One of my humans had a bit of a texture aversion but bravely tried one anyway.







The other? She slurped them back like a seasoned pro!

Next up was a generous serving of freshly boiled mussels, their flavour dancing with delight.

The sourdough bread was perfect for dipping into delicious juice.
Then the grand finale? A lobster boil that would make any foodie’s heart flutter!
Lobster, potatoes, corn, garlic, and onions were perfectly cooked and accompanied by a side of drawn butter that was simply irresistible.

My humans were overjoyed with each delectable bite, and just when they thought it was time to waddle home…

Our friendly server popped the question, “Are you not staying for dessert?”
They had completely forgotten about the cherry cheesecake waiting for them!
How could they not partake in such a sweet ending? Back down they went to savour every last bite, ending their meal on a high note.

Full, happy, and buzzing with joy, my humans finally waddled home.
Grateful they had waited those long months to celebrate their birthdays at a Raw Bar Oyster pop-up.

Sookram’s Brewing proved to be the perfect venue for such an unforgettable evening, and I can’t wait to join in the next adventure!
