Talbott Tavern – Bardstown, Kentucky

This gem of a place was proudly submitted by Wayne as the winning entry for week 29 of the Get Your BOB On Contest!

The tavern has sheltered countless weary travellers over the centuries, offering warmth and refuge to those who braved the wilderness.

With its charming stonework and heavy timber ceilings, it has a rustic ambiance that reflects its historic roots.

I learned that Andrew Jackson once enjoyed the warmth of the hearth here, and we’re talking about the same spot where a young Abraham Lincoln stayed with his parents as they pondered a land dispute.

There is a Lincoln Room, where you can soak in all the history while imagining the great man himself tucking into a hearty meal.

And if you’re up for a ghostly good time, you must check out the Jesse James room!

Legend has it that the notorious outlaw himself left a few “marks” in the form of bullet holes in the murals.

The Kentucky hot brown is a standout!

But plenty of other finger-licking options capture the essence of Southern cuisine and hospitality.

Whether you’re there to relish a meal, soak in the historical tapestry, or enjoy a bourbon at the bar, you can feel the heartbeat of Bardstown echoing through its walls.
