    Greetings, Earthlings! It’s me, Bob the Rubber Duck, floating in with my latest BOBortunity!

    Today, I’m diving into the interesting town of Vulcan, Alberta, in the heart of Canada.

    Thanks to BOBBER Oliver, who entered Week 19 of the GET YOUR BOB ON Contest, I’m here to share a few details of this sci-fi paradise!

    Vulcan is a small but vibrant town with just under 2,000 residents, perched on the western edge of the Canadian Badlands.

    It may not be a space station, but with its charming atmosphere and stunning surroundings of wheat, canola, and barley fields, Vulcan is out of this world!

    Only about 1.5 hours away from Calgary, this little town has grabbed the attention of Trekkies and travellers alike.

    The adventure begins at the Vulcan Visitor Center, aptly named the “Trek Station.”

    This center is designed to get you in the mood for everything Star Trek.

    Shaped like a space station, it houses tons of Star Trek memorabilia and souvenirs.

    I can imagine the excitement of a Trekkie walking inside!

    As you enter Vulcan, you won’t want to miss the 31-foot replica of the Starship Enterprise.

    It’s a stunning sight that everyone stops to marvel at.

    Your trip wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Vulcan Museum, where history and the future converge.

    But Oliver’s favourite BOBortunity in Vulcan is the celebration dubbed VULCON!

    This annual event is a weekend extravaganza filled with all things Star Trek, taking place from July 24-26, 2026.

    This year is particularly special because it marks the 60th anniversary of Star Trek and the 32nd anniversary of Vulcon! Talk about cosmic timing!

    Held in the heart of Vulcan, Vulcon gathers fans from across the galaxy to celebrate the iconic franchise.

    With a colourful blend of humanoids, Ferengi, Klingons, and Vulcans swarming the town in their finest cosplay!

    Whether you’re an avid collector or just a curious explorer, there’s something for everyone.

    The fun kicks off with a meet-and-greet on Friday night, featuring an impressive lineup of Star Trek celebrities.

    And who wouldn’t want to join in on the t-shirt contests or the epic cosplay parade?

    With silent auctions and dance parties, and an atmosphere that’s simply out of this world, Vulcon is the perfect place to get your sci-fi fix.

    Bob here, excited to share the delightful story of Mother Chorizo’s, a culinary gem nestled in Lakeside, Montana. Compliments to this week’s Get Your Bob On Contest winner, Zach from Winnipeg, Manitoba.

    Mother Chorizo’s began its incredible journey as a humble food truck, serving the community bold, flavorful Latin cuisine.

    The passion and dedication of its owner, Christian Cabrales, have fueled its growth to now including a full-service cantina.

    It’s no surprise that this lively corner of Lakeside has become a staple for locals and visitors alike.

    Christian’s culinary skills and warmth shine through every dish and interaction.

    Zach certainly knows what he’s talking about!

    He keeps coming back for the tantalizing elote. Often, he pairs it with the MC Chicken which is a full sized meal from the food truck.

    BUT when he makes the dive to the cantina his go to is the classic barbacoa tacos. These tacos are simply unforgettable.

    But hold on to your floaties because there’s more!

    Rumour has it that the secret menu boasts a surf and turf burrito that’s quite the talk of the town.

    Definitely, this is a dish you’d want to dive into!

    What truly distinguishes Mother Chorizo’s isn’t just the menu, but the inviting atmosphere that permeates the space.

    Zach describes it as welcoming, genuine, and personal. Every visit feels like a special occasion rather than just another meal.

    The ambiance, coupled with the incredible food, makes the 16-hour drive from Manitoba totally worth it!

    In a nutshell, Mother Chorizo’s is not just any old food truck or restaurant.

    It’s an experience crafted with heart and hospitality.

    If you’re ever in the area, or feeling adventurous for a ride like Zach, I highly recommend finding your way to this vibrant cantina.

    Bob here, and I’m bubbling with excitement to share the extraordinary escapade of our BOBBER Gregory, the star of Week 17 in the Get Your Bob On contest!

    Gregory’s journey takes him deep into the magical Neversink Cave in Alabama, a true natural treasure that invites explorers to unveil its secretive depths and mesmerizing formations.

    Picture this: you waddle through a lush, vibrant entrance that looks like it belongs in a fairy tale.

    The surrounding greenery is lush creating the perfect oasis for forest bathing!

    As you splash your way inside, your eyes widen at the sight of shimmering stalactites and stalagmites reaching for the roof and floor like nature’s own version of a ballet performance.

    Just think of all the fabulous selfies you could take with those dazzling formations!

    But wait, there’s more!

    This cave isn’t just eye candy, it’s an adventure playground!

    With over 2,000 feet of winding passages, I promise you’ll be hopping with excitement as you discover breathtaking underground waterfalls that dance and sparkle with every drop.

    Gregory’s first visit to Neversink Cave filled his heart with wonder as he beheld the enchanting entrance surrounded by vibrant greenery.

    But there was a flicker of yearning in his eyes. The cave’s depths felt like an elusive mystery, daring him to explore, but he lacked the skills to take the plunge.

    He stood there, gazing at the magnificent opening adorned with stalactites that hung like nature’s own sparkling chandeliers, yearning for adventure.

    With the fire of determination lighting up his spirit, Gregory decided it was time to take the plunge, not physically at first, but by gearing up for the ultimate adventure!

    He rallied some friends who shared his passion for exploration, and together, they dove headfirst into an exciting training quest!

    They honed their cave exploring skills in preparation to conquer the Neversink Cave!

    When Gregory returned to Neversink Cave two years later, his excitement bounced off the walls!

    With a heart filled with anticipation and excitement bubbling in his feathers, he made his way back to that stunning entrance.

    As he descended into the cave, he stepped into a realm that felt truly otherworldly.

    The cave walls glimmered as water cascaded down, creating a soothing symphony of sounds that made him feel like he was in nature’s very own concert!

    Gregory described his experience as a monumental transformation, a journey that unfolded not just within the cave but within himself!

    He was ecstatic to finally discover the awe-inspiring formations, the intriguing beauty surrounding him, and the exhilarating sense of victory that comes with overcoming an obstacle.

    It was a day filled with friends and laughter echoing through the caverns, a perfect adventure indeed!

    And let’s not forget about that breathtaking opening!

    Gregory can assure you it’s a vision well worth the journey.

    He is incredibly thankful he leapt at the chance to embrace the full experience but he realizes that the training is not for everyone.

    I imagine that as he emerged from the cave, his face lit up with a triumphant smile!

    Gregory hadn’t just navigated the cave; he had overcome the obstacle, gaining new skills and passions on the journey.

    Nestled just 14.5 km west of Hafford, the Crooked Bush is one of Canada’s spectacular hidden gems.

    Imagine a fairy tale forest, but with a twist, literally!

    These aren’t your average aspen trees.

    They’re all about bending and twisting in the most peculiar ways, as if they’ve taken a yoga class or two.

    Local legend says there are tales of cattle avoiding the place and stories about buried treasure or even aliens! How fun is that?

    Scientists believe these trees are the result of a rare genetic mutation, which means they’re as unique as I am in my little rubbery world!

    Many locals think there’s something supernatural going on, which adds a sprinkle of mystery to The Crooked Bush.

    But enough about the myths, let’s get to the good stuff!

    Picture a wooden boardwalk gently guiding visitors through the grove, keeping their feet off the ground so as not to disturb my twisted friends.

    This isn’t just your average tourist spot; it’s a celebration of art, faith, and relentless dedication carved beautifully in stone!

    Cory has visited the Grotto many times over the years.

    He says that each time he returns, he discovers something he missed on previous visits.

    Let’s dive into the heartwarming tale of how this impressive shrine came to life.

    The Grotto of Redemption is considered the lifetime achievement of Father Paul Dobberstein.

    Father Dobberstein, a determined German immigrant and priest, made a promise to the Virgin Mary.

    If she blessed him with recovery from a serious illness, he would construct a shrine to honour her.

    Father Dobberstein recovered!

    And in 1912, he set out on a 42-year quest to gather rocks and stones to fulfill his vow.

    The Grotto of Redemption is a sprawling complex featuring nine breathtaking grottoes. Each portrays pivotal scenes from the life of Jesus Christ.

    As the world’s largest man-made grotto, this enchanting site is often affectionately dubbed the “eighth wonder of the world.”

    But The Grotto of Redemption isn’t just about its impressive dimensions.

    Stunning mosaics made from an extraordinary collection of minerals, fossils, and gemstones bring a unique element to the construction.

    Acclaimed for a value exceeding $4.3 million, these vibrant materials tell stories of hope and faith. In addition, they create a mosaic that sparkles in the sunlight and draws in over 100,000 visitors annually.

    The story behind the Grotto is as inspiring as the intricate scenes it displays.

    Father Dobberstein began using a wealth of minerals and precious and semi-precious stones to weave an unbreakable narrative of humanity’s fall and Christ’s redemption.

    Picture a spectacular display crafted from petrified wood, malachite, agate, and a whole host of other dazzling stones perfectly placed in concrete.

    Alongside Father Dobberstein was his invaluable right-hand man, Matt Szerensce. He became his devoted collaborator in this ambitious undertaking.

    Their combined knowledge and tireless labour transformed the Grotto into an iconic masterpiece. It covers an area about the size of an entire city block.

    Can you imagine the dedication it took? These two poured their hearts and souls into this divine creation!

    The Grotto of Redemption continues to inspire countless souls.

    Its beauty and the faith behind it provide a backdrop for reflection for those who explore its attributes.

    Cory says that the on-site museum is filled with rare gems from around the globe and stories of the Grotto and its creation.

    As you continue your stroll, you’ll stumble upon the legendary Goldfield Bottle House, a quirky structure made entirely of bottles!

    It’s a perfect backdrop for photos, and think of the wild stories those bottles could tell if they could talk!

    Before you wrap up this grand adventure, catch a thrilling showdown at the Goldfield Gunfight Arena!

    Grab your seat in the bleachers and hold onto your hats as the Cowboys duel it out! It’s an action-packed spectacle that’ll leave your little ducky heart racing!

    There is so much more than I mentioned here!

    Bob here, ready to take you on a delightful adventure to the Cape Tryon Lighthouse in Prince Edward Island!

    I’ve learned plenty about this lovely spot, thanks to Thomas from PEI, as our Week 13 winner of the Get Your Bob On contest!

    Thomas enjoys hopping over to this stunning locale to ponder the history and soak up the breathtaking views.

    Cape Tyron Lighthouse is a majestic lighthouse standing tall on a splendid red sandstone cliff.

    It watches over the shimmering waters along the northern coast of Prince Edward Island.

    Built in 1965 (though the original structure dates back to 1905!), the Cape Tryon Lighthouse is like a protective guardian of the sea.

    It ensures that all mariners navigate safely past the shallow waters.

    The amazing Cape Tryon Lighthouse rises to 12.5 meters (or 40 feet) tall. It is a square, tapered wooden beauty sitting high atop red sandstone cliffs, just north of the village of French River.

    It guides boats safely between Richmond Bay and New London, warning of the tricky shallow waters that extend far from shore.

    Painted in classic white with red accents, it’s a sight to see!

    Thomas tells me that when he visits, the serenity of the place washes over him like a gentle wave.

    He parks his car, gazes out over the ocean, and reflects on the rich stories this lighthouse holds.

    Can you imagine what it must have been like for the very first keeper in 1905, Captain William Bell?

    Standing there, expertly guiding ships with the flicker of a candle in the fog!

    Cape Tyron Lighthouse has evolved over the years, from its early days with a simple oil lamp to its current electric light.

    Oh, and let me tell you about Lucy Maud Montgomery, the beloved author of “Anne of Green Gables.”

    She was apparently inspired by this very spot!

    In her book, she painted dreamy pictures of the Cape and its enchanting lighthouse, capturing readers’ hearts everywhere.

    So, if you ever find yourself on a quest for beauty and history, make your way to Cape Tryon!

    While the lighthouse is on private property, you can still enjoy its splendour from a nearby public road.

    It’s one of PEI’s hidden treasures that’s absolutely worth the journey.

    Hello there, shoe lovers and curious minds! Bob here, floating through the marvellous world of footwear at the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto.

    Jocelyn from Ontario brought the Bata Shoe Museum to the forefront in her submission to win week 12 of the Get Your Bob On Contest.

    This museum is not your average gallery; it’s a treasure trove of history that spans over 4,500 years, dedicated entirely to the fascinating story told through shoes.

    Can you imagine?

    From the sandals of ancient civilizations to modern-day designs, each pair has its own narrative.

    The museum boasts over 15,000 shoes and artifacts and has just recently started exhibiting shoes of the future.

    Founded by Sonja Bata, the museum opened to the public on May 6th, 1995.

    Sonja embarked on this journey with the mission to illuminate human history through footwear, and our BOBBER Jocelyn loves that!

    She visits every year to explore the ever-changing exhibits, and frankly, I think she might be the museum’s biggest fan!

    Jocelyn is quite the shoe enthusiast, boasting an impressive collection of over 300 pairs!

    That’s right, while I’m happy with my shiny yellow exterior, Jocelyn’s passion for shoes knows no bounds.

    She jokes that she has a pair to suit her every mood, thank goodness she doesn’t have duck feet like me!

    At every social event she plans to attend, Jocelyn insists on finding the perfect shoes before she even thinks about the outfit.

    Then the outfit must work perfectly with those shoes.  Now that’s dedication!

    I must admit, her approach to fashion suits me perfectly.

    As you glide through the museum, you can hear the whispers of history echoing from each display.

    There’s something special about the way shoes connect people across cultures and eras.

    Some shoes have walked through time, while others have danced their way into our hearts.

    And don’t even get me started on the unique styles, there’s so much creativity, just like a rubber duck’s imagination!

    At the Bata Shoe Museum, you’re not just looking at shoes; you’re stepping into stories from various parts of the world.

    Each pair reveals something about the people who wore them: traditions, innovations, and a touch of personal flair.

    It’s a reminder of how footwear has always been more than a mere necessity; it’s a form of expression.

    Red Rock Amphitheatre – Colorado

    Bob, here to take you on a splashing adventure to one of the most unique places on Earth, the Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside of Denver, Colorado!

    Our week eleven winner of the GET YOUR BOB ON Contest, Eric from Colorado, introduced me to this spectacular gem.

    Eric enjoyed a rocking concert by Jordan Davis in September 2025.

    Now, when you think of Red Rocks Park, don’t just picture concertgoers swaying to the music.

    Imagine bobbing along amidst a breathtaking backdrop of 738 acres filled with deer, dinosaurs, fabulous pines, and the wide-open prairie.

    Standing at a high-flying 6,450 feet above sea level, this is where the Great Plains tango with the Rocky Mountains!

    It’s nature’s own blend of stunning vistas and diverse wildlife, making it an enchanting place for land-loving ducks like yours truly.

    But let’s talk about the amphitheatre itself.

    Can you believe it’s the only naturally-occurring, acoustically perfect venue in the WHOLE world?

    Legendary artists, from The Beatles to U2, have graced this incredible stage, and I hear every feathered friend in the crowd feels the spirit!

    Now here’s a fun little tidbit: the land where the amphitheatre sits has a history that flows through it like a bubbling brook.

    It’s the traditional territory of the Ute, Cheyenne, and Arapahoe Peoples, who have called this stunning area home long before anyone was strumming guitars or blasting beats.

    Building the amphitheatre was no small feat. It all began on May 9, 1936, when Denver’s mayor, Benjamin Franklin Stapleton, rallied to make this dream a reality. The project, overseen by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), transformed this beautiful landscape into an acoustic wonder over five years (way longer than most ducks take to find their favourite pond)!

    As the workers dug deep with picks and shovels, they removed a whopping 50,000 cubic feet of rock to create the perfect seating area for the audience. And guess what?

    Over 90,000 square feet of gorgeous sandstone was laid down to craft the seated oasis, specially quarried to mirror the stunning natural beauty of Red Rocks.

    Add to those materials the steel and, of course, the many hours of hard labour and equipment hours, and voila…the amphitheatre comes to life on July 4, 1941.

    What did this cost you, may ask?  Well, back in the day, the cost was $473,163.56, which is equivalent to over $11 million today!

    The Red Rock Amphitheatre has a seating capacity of 9,525 friendly ducklings, and if you climb from the stage to the top, you would have had a 193-stair climbing cardio workout.

    From dinosaurs roaming the land millions of years ago to epic rock concerts, Red Rocks Amphitheatre is a treasure trove of history and unforgettable experiences.

    So here’s to the splendid moments Eric had at Jordan Davis’s concert and to all the amazing adventures waiting in this iconic venue.

    Bob, here to take you on a delightful adventure from Phoenix to Tortilla Flat, Arizona.

    This BOBortunity was brought forward by Grace, the week 10 winner of the GET YOUR BOB ON Contest!

    Buckle up (or, you know, hold on tightly to your handlebars), because this ride is more than just a journey; it’s an experience full of twists, turns, and scenic views.

    Starting off in the bustling city of Phoenix, hit the road toward one of the top 10-rated motorcycle rides in Arizona and maybe even in the United States.

    The ride to Tortilla Flat is famous among bikers for its breathtaking scenery and winding curves – 147 of them, to be exact!

    As you ascend into the charming Superstition Mountains, keep your eyes peeled for the gorgeous desert vistas stretching out before you.

    The fresh air and sunshine will fill your tires and hearts with joy. Don’t forget to snap some pictures along the way; the views are too good to miss!

    Once you reach the wild western town of Tortilla Flat, you’ll find it’s packed with personality and charm.

    First things first, you’ll want to quench your thirst after that ride.

    There’s nothing quite like a cold drink at the Superstition Saloon and Restaurant!

    Imagine real saddles as bar stools and a menu full of mouthwatering burgers and that famous prickly pear lemonade. Yum!

    After filling up on scrumptious food, take a stroll through the little red schoolhouse museum that’s brimming with local history.

    You’ll learn about the intriguing story of the Lost Dutchman’s Gold and what life was like for Native Americans in this beautiful landscape.

    Don’t forget to sign the guest book; I love seeing where visitors come from!

    Next, pop into the Old-Fashioned Country Store for a scoop of the world-famous prickly pear gelato, and if you’re lucky, maybe some homemade fudge too. Perfect for a sweet treat to take with you!

    And of course, you can’t leave without capturing a photo at the iconic toilet seat display! Trust me, it’s a quacky good time!

    As you prepare to leave this quaint little town, make sure to visit the Mercantile Gift Shop for some unique souvenirs.

    Whether it’s a funky t-shirt or an Arizona-themed keepsake, you’ll find the perfect memento to remember your fabulous trip.

    Then, as you rev up your bikes for the return ride to Phoenix, leave time to stop at the legendary biker bay on the way back to Phoenix – Jake’s Corner. 

    What a perfect place to meet up with like-minded humans and add to your fresh memories of Tortilla Flats.

    Sandy had a marriage that flowed for 24 years. She and her former partner raised two amazing boys – Cameron, nearing the big 3-0, and her baby boy, just a hop away from 28.

    Unfortunately, like a boat adrift without a paddle, their love started to drift apart, with her partner choosing a bottle of rum over the love of his life.

    Fast forward a few chapters, and Sandy entered a new romance with a fellow from her high school days.

    Talk about a fairytale! They tied the knot on Halloween 2021 in a charming church built in the 1800s, draped in black and purple.

    Their cake screamed spooky chic – three tiers dressed with black skulls!

    Their reception was the talk of the town, and little did they know how fitting the theme would be.

    Just three months into their marriage, Sandy faced a storm she never saw coming.

    Tragically, her beloved Jason passed away from an overdose, leaving her in a tidal wave of grief, anger, and confusion.

    In the wake of heartbreak, Sandy found herself with a life insurance check that felt like a tidal wave of cash – $100,000 floating her way!

    Unfortunately, it vanished quicker than a rubber duck at a pool party.

    A sports car, souped-up truck, and even a Harley bike slipped through her fingers as she sought happiness in the most temporary of ways.

    But like any good adventure, things took a sudden turn.

    In 2024, while riding around in her beloved Dodge Scat Pack, she caught a little trouble with the law – hello, DUI! With legal fees looming, Sandy reluctantly listed her cherished Harley on Marketplace.

    That’s when Wayne, a true biker, rode into her life. I mean, come on, a leather-clad, gray-bearded legend? How could she resist?

    They chatted over time, bridging the 3.5-hour distance between Mocksville and Wilmington.

    Wayne shared his journey of recovery, proudly sporting over three years of sobriety.

    Sandy, who had never dated a biker before, suddenly realized she’d never dated anyone sober either.

    So why not take a chance?

    With that twist of fate, Wayne upgraded his ride from Sandy’s Sportster to a much more comfortable Ultra Glide – because let’s be honest, that Sportster seat was not designed for long rides!

    And then came that magical Christmas Eve ride.

    Sandy felt the warmth of the sun as they cruised down to Wrightsville Beach.

    Little did she know, her life was about to take another exhilarating turn!

    After a stroll on the sand,

    gathering seashells like a true beachcomber,

    she turned around to find Wayne, the big bad biker,

    on one knee with a ring in hand!

    “Yes!!!” she exclaimed, feeling all the love bubble up inside her.

    Although they haven’t set a date yet, you can bet it’ll be a beach/biker wedding, draped in the striking colours of orange, black, and white – Harley-Davidson style, of course!

    And they’ve even invited me to join in on the fun!

    Wilmington promises not just love in the air but also stunning sights like Fort Fisher, an aquarium, engaging battleship tours, and a bunch of beautiful beaches to explore.

    The Good Cheer Trail is not just any ordinary trail; it’s a scrumptious journey that celebrates the amazing craftsmanship of Nova Scotia’s beverage producers.

    Spanning from the stunning coastal town of Yarmouth all the way up to the charming Sydney on Cape Breton Island.

    This trail features over 80 stops where you can sample the best wines, craft beers, ciders, spirits, and even mead that the province has to offer!

    Talk about a beverage buffet!

    This trail has some serious historical flair, too! It pays homage to Nova Scotia’s rich culinary tapestry woven over the last 400 years.

    The name itself harks back to 1606 when the first gathering of L’Ordre du Bon Temps (Order of Good Cheer) took place in Port Royal.

    This club was set up to help folks survive those icy winters and is also regarded as one of North America’s earliest gastronomic societies, bringing people together through the magic of food and drink!

    Imagine waddling along this path, each stop celebrating the spirit of the Order of Good Cheer, founded by Samuel de Champlain at North America’s first European settlement. Talk about a historic hop and sip!

    Among the gems along the Good Cheer Trail are incredible spots!

    Like Lunn’s Mill Brewing Co., where you can savour some delicious craft beers,

    and Tidal Bay Winery, boasting white wines that capture the very essence of Nova Scotia.

    And I can’t help but quack about Glenora Distillery – the first single malt whisky distillery in North America! Cheers to that!

    The Good Cheer Trail is a fantastic way to explore Nova Scotia’s vibrant craft beverage scene while enjoying the province’s natural beauty and rich history.

    Bob here to share the fabulous adventure of our week seven winner, Bobber Emilie!

    Hold on to your flippers because we’re diving into a magical moment that unfolded at the one and only Hôtel de Glace, or as I like to call it, the Ice Hotel in Valcartier, Quebec.

    It turns out, love can be just as frosty as ice!

    Hotel de Glace is constructed from about 11,000 tons of snow and 350 tons of ice. The result – a magnificent frozen palace!

    That’s right – it’s the only Ice Hotel in North America and a true winter wonderland.

    Now, imagine Emilie’s boyfriend concocting a weekend brimming with surprises.

    A dazzling engagement ring waiting in his pocket to pop the big question.

    After their 40-minute drive from Quebec City, they waddled through the stunning entrance.

    Emilie and her future husband were greeted by a crisp breeze and a sight that sparkled like my own rubbery exterior!

    The Grand Hall was filled with jaw-dropping ice sculptures and twinkling lights.

    They like Hollywood icons at an extravagant gala instead of an icy getaway!

    After receiving a warm welcome and delightful cocktails served in ice glasses, they headed off to their cozy igloo-like suite.

    Wrapped in fluffy fleece blankets, they snuggled together, no doubt sharing chuckles and sweet whispers in their snug little hideaway.

    Now that’s what I call “cool” vibes!

    But wait, the fun didn’t stop there!

    Off they went to the Nordic area, where bubbling hot tubs and a canopy of stars invited them to relax.

    Basking in the warmth while laughter danced through the frosty air!

    The next day was jam-packed with adventure!

    Zipping down thrilling slopes at Village Vacances Valcartier, cheeks flushed and giggles echoing all around.

    Then, off to the ice rink, gliding and twirling hand in hand beneath the gentle kiss of the winter sun.

    Who knew love could be so much fun?

    But the grand finale awaited! As the sun dipped low, the moment arrived – proposal time!

    With a heart full of excitement, Emilie’s boyfriend dropped to one knee under twinkling lights that sparkled like stars.

    Out came that stunning ring, and Emilie – oh, she just glimmered with joy!

    “YES!” she whispered, and I could practically hear the cheers echoing through the wintry wonderland.

    They celebrated with cocktails at the Ice Bar, toasting to their future before retreating to their icy bedroom.

    Cuddled up in thick sleeping bags, candlelight flickering around them, they drifted into dreamland.

    Their one-night stay at the Hôtel de Glace was packed with laughter, love, and memories. These special memories would melt the iciest heart!

    As they checked out the next day, they cheered at the thought of returning.

    After all, the magic of winter and their beautiful love story would be waiting for them to explore again.

    Bob here, with a splashing good story to tell you all about our week six winner of the Get Your Bob on contest!

    Kristen from sunny Florida, who has a BOBortunity that truly warms my little ducky heart – an inspiring collection of ducks!

    Kristen’s adventures are legendary!

    With her hard-earned coins on hand, she and her husband embark on journeys across the Southern US.

    They dive into every claw machine they encounter.

    It’s like a treasure hunt, and what treasures have they found?

    The most eclectic duck family you could ever imagine!

    It all began at a lively bar in Clearwater Beach called The Brown Boxer.

    The Brown Boxer is packed with fun games to keep you entertained while you sip a drink. Kristen had her eyes on the prize – a claw machine filled with an assortment of rubber ducks!

    With a bit of help from her husband, who seems to be a claw machine pro, they turned a single dollar into a lucky haul of six ducks! Can you believe it?

    WOWZA! Being the honest duckies they are, they let the manager know, and he chuckled while giving them the green light to keep all of them.

    And just like that, the collection started with the first duck out of the claw, Tampa Bay Lightning Duck!

    The hunt for ducks is now a cherished tradition!

    Every duck-filled claw machine they come across holds a lucky duck just waiting for Kristen to scoop it up and bring it into her loving flock.

    I can only imagine how she would feel if she found me pressed against the glass, urging them to take me home… just kidding!

    I adore my human friends way too much to trade them in!

    Kristen has amassed a whopping 20 ducks (not counting the three she won since she submitted)!

    Each one has a unique name, such as the dashing Zorro Duck, Aqua Duck, and Mr. Duck III.

    And how could I forget Vet Duck?

    This brave retired army vet is the honorary leader of her flock, making sure everyone follows the ducky house rules!

    Among Kristen’s favourites is Navy Duck, which holds a special place in her heart, reminding her of time spent working to secure freedom for all.

    And then there’s Ariel the Duckmaid, who is simply the belle of the ball.

    But I have my eye on the fabulous Sara Duckasaurus – those purple feathers are the perfect plumage for a night out on the town!

    Kristen and her husband have found ducky friends all the way in California, and as local as their neighbourhood bar in Florida, collecting memories along the way.

    They’ve discovered ducks in a cozy lodge on Ober Mountain in Tennessee, and even while enjoying pizza in Pigeon Forge.

    Adding feathered friends to their family tree at fun gaming spots like Monster Mini Golf and Dave & Buster’s must include hours of entertainment!

    Today is the day to quack about the incredible escapade of our week five winner, Jeannie, from the Get Your BOB on Contest – she shared her fabulous trip to the legendary Hoover Dam!

    Waddle with me as we dive into this exciting journey from the dazzling lights of Las Vegas to this awe-inspiring engineering marvel sitting between Nevada and Arizona!

    The Hoover Dam is a towering concrete arch-gravity masterpiece nestled in the stunning Black Canyon of the Colorado River.

    It’s not just a dam; it’s a monumental beauty that’s about 35 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. It’s perfect for a day trip full of excitement!

    Built during the Great Depression between 1931 and 1936 and dedicated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on September 30, 1935, as the Boulder Dam before reverting to its original name in 1947.

    The Hoover Dam was once the tallest in the world. Jeannie could understand why as she stood before it, taking in its staggering height of 726 feet!

    She couldn’t help but exclaim, “It’s astonishing what humans can build!” She soaked in the sheer scale and beauty surrounding her – oh, how my little rubber heart wished to float alongside her!

    But it wasn’t just fun and games! As Jeannie floated around the dam, a serious expression crossed her face when she looked down at the meandering Colorado River.

    She noticed the declining water levels and expressed concern.

    “Water is essential for life!” she remarked, reminding us all that even in the shadow of such a magnificent structure, we must think about preserving our precious resources.

    Wise words, Jeannie!

    When she made her way up to the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, wow, oh wow, what a sight!

    The breathtaking views stretched for miles!

    The sun was dancing on the river, creating a glittering spectacle!

    Jeannie snapped a ton of pictures, trying to capture the tantalizing beauty of this epic landscape.

    After soaking in all that wonder, she ventured into the visitor center for a guided tour.

    Oh, the stories she brought back! Jeannie couldn’t get enough of the history. The dam not only stood tall amid a challenging time in history, but it is vital today. It generates enough hydroelectric power to energize over 1.3 million people!

    Can you quack-believe that?

    Jeannie’s eyes sparkled as she learned how it powers Nevada, Arizona, and even California!

    But the adventure didn’t stop there! The area around the dam becomes a playground in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Jeannie and her pals set out on a short hike among the colourful rock formations and stunning landscapes.

    What a fantastic backdrop for some fun!

    As Jeannie wrapped up her tale, she radiated gratitude for the unforgettable day filled with exploration and insight.

    What could be better than good friends, incredible scenery and some knowledge to take home with you!

    This week, our lucky winner in the GET YOUR BOB ON contest is none other than Don from Illinois who submitted A Pie Stop in Anchorage, Alaska!

    Don had been dreaming for years of gliding along the Alaska Highway on his trusty Harley. Finally, in the summer of 2025, that dream came true!

    While the whole trip was marvelous – oh, the tales he could tell – the BOBortunity he shared was his visit to A Pie Stop!

    The moment Don waltzed into this charming bakery, he was greeted by a warm, sweet hug of freshly baked pie aromas!

    A Pie Stop is the magical creation of a super duo: Steve and Alisa, a spirited grandfather-granddaughter pair who bake with love and passion.

    Fun fact: Alisa started her baking journey at just four years old, talk about a prodigy in the kitchen!

    With friendly smiles from the dynamite duo, Steve and Alisa, and a sprinkle of that magical “Alaskan Love” in every pie, it felt like a warm hug on a chilly day.

    The treats at A Pie Stop are pure happiness!

    From mouthwatering fruit pies to savoury Cornish pasties, pot pies, quiches, and a rainbow of delectable sweets, every bite is a celebration!

    Each pie is crafted from scratch using the freshest local ingredients.

    Those Buttery and flaky crusts? Simply Divine!

    When Don had his first taste of the seasonal berry pie, he couldn’t help but shout, “It’s like a burst of Alaskan summer in my mouth!”

    I can practically hear those berries singing, they’re so fresh and fruity!

    Don felt as though he had hit a jackpot of flavour at A Pie Stop so he returned a few times to indulge in a variety of options:  Rhubarb, Blueberry, chicken, apple and even some delectable banana bread.

    World’s Largest Sausage Landmark – Mundare, Alberta

    I’m swimming in excitement to announce our week three winner of the GET YOUR BOB ON Contest – it’s none other than Ashley!

    She shared a whacky yet wonderful BOBortunity centered around the World’s Biggest Sausage landmark, as recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2001.

    At first, I thought Ashley might just be playing with my feathery head. However, as I dove deeper into this tale, I discovered a story that’s as meaty as it is fascinating!

    Get ready to waddle over to Mundare, Alberta, home to the legendary World’s Biggest Sausage, which some locals affectionately refer to as the “Giant Turd”.

    This 42-foot-tall sausage statue is quite the eye-catcher. It is a tribute to Stawnichy’s Meat Processing, a family-run sausage factory famous for its kielbasa (that’s sausage to you land squirrels!).

    Built in 2001 for around $120,000, this colossal 12,000-pound monument was crafted to brave winds of up to 160 km/h. It stands tall alongside flags representing Canada, Alberta, and, of course, the Stawnichy brand.

    Now, let me take you back to where this all started. Mundare is a charming farming community, nestled just a hop and a splash east of Edmonton.

    It was settled by many farmers from Eastern Europe who brought their delicious culture to Canada.

    Among the culinary treasures they introduced is the beloved kielbasa. This highly seasoned garlic sausage first hit the market in 1959, thanks to the Stawnichy family!

    What began as a small sausage shop on the family farm turned into a booming business. Word about their mouth-watering creation spread like ripples through the water.

    Since then, the family has smoked over 25 million sausages. Can you imagine that?!

    The saga of Stawnichy’s is one of dedication and growth. By the end of the ’80s, they expanded their operations to keep up with ever-growing demand.

    They opened Uncle Ed’s Place, a sit-down spot for Ukrainian food in Edmonton in the 90s. Does anyone say “tasty pierogies” to pair with those sausages?

    Fast forward a bit, and by the early 2000s, they doubled their facility. They also added all sorts of fancy equipment to keep those sausages rolling out!

    Uncle Ed’s had to move to a bigger place to fit all the hungry customers wanting a taste of home. Talk about a success story!

    Today, Stawnichy’s remains a family-owned gem, still cranking out 80+ products and serving over 1.8 million customers. They achieve this all while maintaining that original love for delicious sausage.

    It’s incredible what can happen when a family embraces their BOBortunity and never lets it float away!

    A big round of applause for David, a fellow motorcycle enthusiast who has taken us on a quack-tastic journey to one of his favourite rides: the enchanting Tail of the Gecko in sunny Florida!

    Nestled about 80 miles north of the cozy Clearwater, David’s adventure leads us to the Ozello Causeway, a delightful stretch of road that’s as charming as a rubber duck in a bubble bath!

    Known to locals as the “Tail of the Gecko,” this road serves up a thrilling ride packed with 67 twists in just 9 miles!

    Florida’s own playful rendition of the famous Tail of the Dragon, without all the fuss!

    Now, sure, the Gecko may not have the jaw-dropping 318 curves of its wild cousin in Tennessee, but that’s okay.

    Sometimes it’s not about the size of the adventure; it’s all about the sizzle!

    As David explains, this little guy is a rollicking good time just waiting for us to explore.

    Stretching nearly 20 miles, this hidden gem between Wauchula Rd/SR 62 and Balm-Picnic Rd/CR 672 is filled with all sorts of delightful turns.

    Picture it: riders gracefully gliding along while soaking in the lovely rural sights of Florida.

    Just a little quack of warning: keep your eyes peeled for those wandering horses; we wouldn’t want any horsey incidents on our ride!

    Along the route, you’re greeted by sweeping curves that are simply a joy to navigate.

    In contrast, at points the road flattens, revealing the classic Sunshine State scenery.

    Then those sweet curves give way to some surprising tight 90-degree turns that will make your heart (and rubber body) race!

    Oh, and keep those little eyes peeled for some charming, tree-lined hills.

    They might not be the Rocky Mountains, but they’re a unique sight in Florida’s flatlands!

    This route meanders through stunning marshlands and lush mangroves, culminating at Peck’s Old Port Cove, a waterfront gem perfect for recharging after your adventurous ride!

    Picture nibbling on delicious treats while soaking in breathtaking views. Now that’s what I call a perfect day!

    At Peck’s and the Ozello Trail area, you can launch paddleboards or kayaks straight into crystal-clear waters!

    And if fishing is more your style, there’s plenty of opportunity to drop a line.

    David has the perfect fishing pole to throw in the bike just for these opportunities!

    David’s tale about riding the Tail of the Gecko has become one of my favourite “BOBortunities” for adventure.

    From the infectious rhythms of the French Quarter to the serene oak-lined streets of the Garden District, there’s a feast of flavour, history, and excitement around every corner.

    Even my little rubber feathers can’t resist a dance!

    Our first stop? Audubon Park!

    Imagine floating blissfully beneath ancient oak and graceful willow trees that have witnessed centuries of river tales.

    This lush paradise is the perfect spot for a duck (or a human!) to soak in natural beauty.

    And to sneak in a daydream about the delicious gumbo and beignets – signature dishes of Louisiana.

    Oh, those dreamy sweets are truly a quack-worthy reward!

    Next up, hold onto your life vests, we’re diving beak-first into the French Quarter!

    You can’t miss Jean Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop, the oldest operating bar in the whole country! 

    Built between 1722 and 1732 by the crafty Nicolas Touze, this venue is a delightful gumbo of French, Spanish, African, Cajun, and American history.

    Grab something cool to sip, let the lively music fill your soul, and join in the fun, let the good times quack!

    What an epic journey it’s been!

    As you continue your paddle along the magnificent Great River Road, you will land in the historical Natchez, Mississippi! 

    This delightful little city sits proudly on the banks of the mighty Mississippi River.

    Natchez is a treasure trove of history and Southern charm that could send any curious duck’s feathers ruffling with excitement!

    First things first, Natchez isn’t just another pretty face; it’s a living, breathing history book! 

    This enchanting town provides a deep dive into the soul of the South.

    You can feel the presence of Southern belles, brave Civil War soldiers, and trailblazing Civil Rights pioneers.

    Walking through its historic streets feels like stepping back in time!

    Stunning antebellum mansions line the way, just waiting to share their secrets.

    Speaking of secrets, did you know that Natchez played a key role in the Civil War?

    In July 1863, Union troops swam in without so much as a splash, taking control of this vital transportation route with minimal fuss. 

    Thanks to their easygoing takeover, Natchez emerged from the war with much of its glorious architecture still standing tall and beautiful.

    Let’s talk about Stanton Hall, shall we? 

    Towering five stories high, this palatial Greek Revival mansion occupies an entire city block and is a sight to behold!

    With 14,000 square feet of space, it’s packed with original furnishings and beautiful antiques, giving it an air of elegance. 

    The intricate arched millwork is so stunning, it makes my rubbery bill want to quack with joy!

    And don’t forget about Magnolia Hall!

    This beauty was born around 1858, thanks to Thomas Henderson, a cotton mogul whose original home stood right where this grand structure now proudly resides.

    With plaster magnolia blossoms decorating the parlour ceiling, it oozes charm, and the Natchez Garden Club has lovingly restored it into a mesmerizing house museum.

    Now, hold onto your feathers, Natchez isn’t just known for its history; it’s also laid claim to the title of “Biscuit Capital of the World”!

    Yup, you heard that right!  In 2008, the good folks of Natchez declared themselves the biscuit royalty after conducting extensive research to ensure no one else could make the same claim.

    Fun fact: they even transformed the city’s name into IHOP for a day to celebrate and invite all biscuit lovers for a delicious feast!

    You best believe this duck wouldn’t resist a pit stop at Biscuits & Blues!

    Who would want to miss out on their legendary biscuits slathered in apricot butter? 

    Not a chance! 

    While savouring biscuits, you can groove to the lively blues flowing through the air. 

    Their menu is a carnival of delicious dishes, from grilled shrimp to smoked ribs and everything in between!

    When you’re feeling fully fuelled, it’s undoubtedly time for a riverfront waddle!

    The parks around Natchez are simply perfect for soaking in a magnificent Mississippi sunset. 

    Picture this: the glow of the setting sun kissed by the tallest bridge on the river, painting the sky with golden reflections.

    It’s truly a sight that even the most adventurous ducks dream about!

    Now, before we paddle away to our next destination, I must urge you not to miss the legendary Natchez Trace Parkway.

    This historic trail has guided all sorts of travellers: Native Americans, explorers, and traders between Natchez and Nashville for centuries.  As you bob along, keep your eyes peeled for remnants of the Old Trace nestled within the lush landscape. Talk about a trip back in time!

    Winding for 444 miles through three states and encompassing a whopping 10,000 years of North American history.

    The Natchez Trace is a gem in the National Park System, established in 1938 and ever-growing in splendour.

    It connects the southern Appalachian foothills of Tennessee to the stunning bluffs of the lower Mississippi River, and countless exciting sites await you along the way!

    Now we set our sights on the final leg of this incredible adventure down the Great River Road. So, on to Louisiana, where we will find the spot where the mighty Mississippi flows into the Gulf of America!

    Another state, another unique BOBortunity along the Great River Road! This time I am digging my beak through Arkansas.

    The charming town of Helena, Arkansas, where southern hospitality, rich history, and a legendary musical scene await to sweep you off your webbed feet!

    Did you know that Helena’s the only downtown on the Mississippi River for a 300-mile stretch between Memphis and Vicksburg? That’s right!

    Let’s paddle over to Helena River Park!

    Here, you can stroll along an elevated boardwalk that takes you right to the river’s edge while learning about the local ecosystem and Civil War history through informative panels.

    This shady boardwalk looks like the ideal spot for me to stretch my webbed feet and savour the refreshing Mississippi breeze.

    The views are so breathtaking that even my little rubber feathers would stand on end!

    It’s the perfect place for a picnic or a fishing adventure, and there’s even a beach for some thrilling volleyball action or quick boat access!

    As we move on from nature to history, you find the incredible Delta Cultural Center!

    This place is a feast for the curious, whether you’re a duck or a human!

    Dive into captivating exhibits that showcase the rich tapestry of Delta life, complete with tales that will float right into your heart.

    Opened back in 1990, the Delta Cultural Center started with a single building—the Depot.

    Now, it has expanded to multiple properties, each one filled with a treasure trove of Arkansas Delta history!

    Just a hop away from The Depot, you’ll discover the Visitors Center, home to the legendary “King Biscuit Time”: the longest-running blues radio broadcast in the whole wide world!

    “King Biscuit Time” is not just a show; it’s a slice of musical history!

    Since 1941, legends like Sonny Boy Williamson II and Robert Lockwood Jr. have graced the airwaves, spreading blues magic into homes across the Delta.

    B.B. King himself has said that listening to this legendary broadcast inspired his dreams of becoming a musician!

    Talk about some serious inspiration for a little rubber duck!

    And get this, “King Biscuit Time” boasts an astounding record of nearly 20,000 broadcasts!

    There’s something undeniably magical about being part of a legacy that has inspired generations of musicians!

    You can still tune in weekdays from 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. for a live experience that’ll have your heart puddling with joy!

    But the Blues experience doesn’t stop there!

    Every October, the King Biscuit Blues Festival rolls into town, celebrating this iconic musical style with three days of electrifying performances right along the banks of the Mississippi River.

    It’s a gathering of blues lovers from all over the globe! 

    Imagine the music, the joy, and the undeniable sense of community: truly an unforgettable experience!

    After all that exploring, I know a little duck’s tummy will be grumbling!

    So let’s waddle over to Biscuit Row BBQ, located in the revitalized Biscuit Row district.

    The mouthwatering aroma of smoky barbecue will tickle your senses!

    The locals say that you absolutely haven’t experienced Helena until you’ve tasted their delicious ribs, pulled pork, and brisket!

    Finally, after a day packed with fun, where shall we rest our heads?

    How about travelling back in time to 1904 at the historic Edwardian Inn?

    This stunning establishment is a magnificent example of the classic homes built in Helena over a century ago.

    With exquisite quarter-sawn oak panelling and original mantels crafted by skilled artisans from Chicago, it’s like stepping into a charming time capsule!

    Most of the original door and window hardware still adorns the home, along with elegant 1915 chandeliers that light the front foyer.

    Each guest room is historically furnished and decorated, helping transport you to yesteryear.

    The Inn sits on over 40 acres of nature’s tranquillity, so explore the grounds or sit on the expansive front porch as you reflect on your Arkansas adventures!

    I can hardly wait until we can explore this BOBortunity taking in Helena first hand!

    Great River Road – Tennessee

    Get ready to paddle south, for the next segment of our Great River Road journey!

    We’re heading to the vibrant city of Memphis, Tennessee, for the next segment of the Great River Road!

    This place isn’t just famous for its mouthwatering barbecue and toe-tapping Delta blues. It’s also the legendary home of the King himself: Elvis Presley!

    Now, history buffs, this next stop is a must-see!

    We can’t float past Memphis without paying our respects at the National Civil Rights Museum. It is nestled within the historic Lorraine Motel, where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was tragically taken from us in 1968.

    This museum offers an in-depth dive into the civil rights movement, showcasing stories of courage, hope, and change. I tell you, even a little duck like me feels the weight of inspiration. This happens as I waddle through those powerful exhibits!

    Once you’ve soaked in all that history, it’s time to stretch those flippers and get some fresh air!

    Head over to Big River Crossing, the longest pedestrian bridge over the mighty Mississippi River.

    Imagine waddling across from Tennessee to Arkansas with the sparkling river shimmering below and lush parks gracing either side.

    The views are quack-tacular!

    No adventure in Memphis would be complete without a joyful jaunt down Beale Street!

    Let your feathers fly as you bop to the rhythm of live music. Let the savoury aroma of barbecue tickle your bill.

    And guess what? The locals shared some fantastic spots to check out while you’re here!

    First up, the Memphis Rock and Soul Museum.

    It’s an inspirational trip through musical history, from the field hollers of the 1930s to Memphis’ musical explosion in the ’70s. You will also witness its global impact.

    Opened on April 29, 2000, this museum has welcomed over a million visitors from around the world. Therefore, plan to stick around for more than a few minutes!

    Even the virtual tour guide offers over 300 minutes of engaging content. This comes complete with music from every era.

    After getting your cultural fix, it’s time to dig into some grub at Charles Vergos’ Rendezvous.

    Picture this: dining in a magical basement that’s been serving mouthwatering dry rub ribs since 1948!

    The Vergos family has been at it for over 75 years, grilling up their legendary ribs in a cozy space. This is right across from the Peabody Hotel.

    The history here is just as delicious as the food!  Charlie Vergos started in the basement after a disagreement with his brother-in-law at their original spot.

    He transformed an old elevator shaft into a smoker, and with a bit of creativity, he turned the humble rib into a Memphis-style masterpiece.

    And the secret recipe? A blend of his father’s Greek chilli spices with a splash of paprika for that perfect barbecue colour, still making mouths water decades later!

    But it’s not just the ribs that make The Rendezvous special; it’s the entire experience!

    The smoky aromas of grilling meat, the sounds of soulful music, and laughter fill the air. It’s like heaven for your taste buds, and it all happens right there at the Rendezvous.

    To cap off your Memphis adventure, swing by the original B.B. King Blues Club for some live music and cocktails.

    This legendary venue has been keeping the spirit of blues alive since 1991. You can catch everything from authentic blues to classic soul.

    Whether you’re dancing like there’s no tomorrow or just soaking in the vibe, you’ll feel the rhythm pulsing through your feathers.

    And as the night winds down, if you’re anything like me, you won’t be able to resist snagging a few tasty crumbs left by the BBQ pros before it’s time to waddle off to the hotel.

    After all, we need to rest up for the next exciting leg of our journey along the Great River Road. We will paddle onward to Arkansas!

    Bob here to share my research on the next state down the Great River Road: Kentucky.

    The winner of week one Get Your Bob On contest submitted this BOBortunity featuring the scenic Great River Road in Kentucky.

    Even though Bob and his late wife only completed as far as Missouri, we are studying all the way to where the mighty Mississippi flows into the Gulf.

     I came across Paducah, Kentucky, a charming city right at the confluence of the Ohio and Tennessee Rivers! 

    While Paducah may sit just off the Great River Road, it’s an absolute must-stop for any ducky explorer. Especially for those who adore history, art, and the riverfront vibe!

    Did you know Paducah is recognized as a UNESCO Creative City? 

    That’s quite the feather in its cap!  It’s one of only 408 cities worldwide that prioritize creativity and cultural industries in their development plans.

    Talk about a quack-worthy accomplishment!

    Let’s waddle our way over to the historic riverfront, shall we? 

    Here, you’ll find the flood wall, which isn’t just practical; it’s a vibrant art gallery! 

    Adorned with colourful murals created by the renowned artist Robert Dafford.

    The flood wall tells the story of Paducah’s rich history in 50 stunning panels.

    From the city’s founding to its growth, these murals serve as both art and a visual history lesson.

    Each piece is a celebration of Paducah’s culture and a reminder of how art can connect us to our roots.

    Don’t skip the fascinating old train cars parked by the riverside. Perfect for a little duck-sized exploration!

    The Paducah Railroad Museum is a delightful stop for anyone interested in the history of railroads. 

    With its detailed model train displays and a thrilling train simulator, it’s a railroad adventure. Moreover, it lets visitors experience the excitement of being an engineer!

    If you’re lucky, you might even spot a classic riverboat cruising by, adding to the picturesque scenery.

    You can even add a riverboat cruise to your journey!

    Speaking of unique experiences, you shouldn’t miss the National Quilt Museum!

    It showcases an astonishing collection of quilts from around the globe, offering insight into the artistry and history of quilting. 

    There’s something here for everyone, from traditional designs to modern masterpieces.

    Now, let’s make our way to the Lower Town Arts District, the vibrant heart of Paducah!

    It’s filled with unique art galleries, music venues, and cozy restaurants set among historic streets.

    Whether you’re seeking a creative outlet, a fun night out, or a relaxing place to soak in the sights, this district has something special waiting for you.

    My human spotted the River Discovery Center on the list of unique attractions in Paducah.

    This spot is a treasure trove of interactive exhibits. It also offers guided tours focused on the wonders of the river and its wildlife.

    With breathtaking views and educational activities, it’s an unforgettable experience. Importantly, it dives deep into the rich cultural and environmental heritage of America’s iconic waterways.

    Plus, it sits in the oldest standing building in Downtown Paducah, overlooking where the Ohio and Tennessee Rivers converge!

    The name is a playful nod to getting purple-toed duck while trampling the grapes while making your own wine!

    Now, all this exploring is bound to work up an appetite!

    When my little rubber tummy starts to rumble, I paddle my way to the Freight House!  This gem is owned by Paducah native Chef Sara Bradley, who opened it in 2015. She believes that food is more than just eating; it has a story!

    Chef Sara is a 2025 James Beard Award nominee with quite the impressive résumé. It includes being a two-time runner-up on Bravo’s Top Chef and a Chopped champion.

    My beak starts watering just thinking about the menu!  From stuffed mushrooms with smoked jalapeño to local Kentucky catfish, the desserts sound divine.

    Pure bliss after a long day on the river.

    Paducah, Kentucky, truly did not disappoint!

    Now it’s time for me to continue the journey down the Great River Road.

    Quack-venture alert, we’re floating into Missouri!

    Let’s start by exploring the fascinating town of Hannibal, Missouri! As I dream of bobbing along the mighty Mississippi, I can hardly contain my excitement. 

    This lively river town is steeped in history, as it was the childhood home of the legendary Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain.

    I’m not just any rubber duck, I’m a history-loving quacker with a flair for fun!

    Hannibal is a treasure trove of attractions celebrating Twain’s legacy, and I can’t wait to splash into them all.

    Climb the 244 steps to the Mark Twain Memorial Lighthouse

    Initially built in 1935 to honour Twain’s 100th birthday and lovingly rebuilt in 1963, the view from the top is absolutely quackers!

    You’ll get a panoramic glimpse of Hannibal and the stunning Mississippi River, a sight that’ll make your feathers ruffle with delight!

    Visit Mark Twain’s boyhood home

    Stroll through the haunted museum to be unnerved

    The haunted museum showcases Hannibal’s intriguing history, complete with a cemetery right next door!

    Although Mark Twain and his quick witted humour are well celebrated in Hannibal, there is a never ending group of attractions to pique your interest!

    The Historic Downtown is the heart and soul of Hannibal

    Hannibal’s Historic Downtown is like a ducky paradise, bursting with excitement at every corner.

    This district offers nothing short of excitement and expedition as there are fun attractions at almost every corner in the area.

    Built in 1898, Rockcliffe Mansion is a masterpiece filled with ornate fireplaces, grand rooms, and antiques that transport you back in time.

    Truly a sight you have to see to believe!

    This interactive museum is packed with vintage toy trains and memorabilia from the golden age of railroading.

    For train enthusiasts, Big River Train Town is an absolute must-visit!

    Karlock Kars and Pop Culture is a quirky haven for anyone who adores jukeboxes, movie props, and vintage cars. It’s a delight for the senses, and trust me, you could spend hours exploring!

    After all that waddling, I know you’ll be ready to refuel!

    A local favourite is Becky Thatcher’s Diner!

    This no-frills eatery dishes up classic comfort food.

    Think fluffy pancakes,

    all day breakfast,

    and homemade cinnamon rolls!

    That’ll fuel you for all the adventures a duck (or a human) could dream of.

    Hannibal has an array of charming eateries, but our Bobber’s absolute favourite is Finn’s Food and Spirits. 

    Nestled in the heart of town, this cozy spot wraps you in a warm, friendly vibe, like a fluffy towel after a splashy swim!

    The artwork tells stories from Hannibal’s past, creating a lively atmosphere filled with laughter and chatter.

    Now let’s talk food! 

    Whether you’re craving a sizzling steak,

    just-caught fish,

    or wings that’ll make your feathers tingle, Finn’s has it all.

    And if you’re a burger lover, you’re in for a treat: Finn’s burgers are legendary!

    They even have seasonal specials to keep things fresh and exciting on each visit.

    Don’t forget to quench your thirst with an impressive selection of local brews and creative cocktails.

    I recommend trying a fruity drink to toast your river adventures, cheers to floating fun! 

    The staff at Finn’s are simply the best

    They treat everyone like family, complete with cheerful quacks and friendly smiles.

    And if the sun’s shining, grab a spot on the patio to sip your drink and watch the world go by. 

    It’s the perfect perch for a duck to sip a cocktail, bask, and watch the humans stroll by. Imagine: delicious food, a sparkling Mississippi, and the happy hum of Hannibal all around you.

    That’s what I call living the ducky dream!

    Hope you are all set for an adventure as we float south to the enchanting town of Galena, Illinois!

    Oh, what a charming little spot this is!

    As you paddle through its historic streets, it feels like you’ve slipped into a time machine, stepping back into the days of mining and bustling trade.

    Did you know that the legendary Ulysses S. Grant, that famous general and 18th president, called this delightful place home for a spell?

    I can only imagine how much fun it would have been to splash around with him in a pond!

    Keep an eye out for all the charming sites that honor him, including a war memorial that’s seriously quack-tastic!

    And don’t forget to visit Grant’s cozy home, where the views over the city are simply rubber ducky!

    But hold your adorable quacks! This town has a treasure trove of activities waiting for you!

    How about soaring through the trees on a zip line,

    paddling down the river in a kayak,

    or stretching your wings at a goat yoga session at Galena Goat Yoga?

    You have a taste for the finer things?

    Swing by Galena Cellars Vineyard for some delightful wine tastings or

    stroll through the downtown area for some unique shopping.

    And if you’re feeling particularly adventurous like yours truly, don’t miss the fantastic goat trek at Hoof It Goat Treks!

    Reenergize with a hike through charming woods and prairies that have been in the family for four generations, with friendly goats following along, munching on hand-fed treats. It’s a memory that’ll last a lifetime!
