We were making our way from Lincoln, Nebraska, to Apache Junction, Arizona, when we stumbled upon the Buffalo Bill Cultural Center in Oakley, Kansas.
It wasn’t quite open yet, but the sculptures and descriptions outside let us imagine all the treasures inside.
Now, let me tell you a bit about the legendary man at the heart of this center, Buffalo Bill Cody!
Born William Frederick Cody in 1846, he earned the nickname Buffalo Bill while working as a buffalo hunter for the Kansas Pacific Railroad.
Can you believe he was said to have hunted over 4,000 buffalo in just 18 months?
Without even going into the center, you can experience the passion through the incredible detail in the larger-than-life bronze statue on site.
Imagine Buffalo Bill riding his favourite horse and taking down 69 buffalo with his best rifle to win the contest to claim the moniker of Buffalo Bill.
He went on to create the famous Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show.
His show toured across the United States and even made its way to Europe.
It was a thrilling spectacle filled with cowboy stunts, sharpshooting, and Native American performances.
Buffalo Bill became an icon of American frontier culture, a true superstar of his time!
The Buffalo Bill Cultural Center is a tribute to his legacy, showcasing not just his life but also the history of the American West.
The passion and dedication of the local community in Oakley made this center a reality, exactly as they envisioned, preserving the stories and traditions of the frontier.
While we were too early to explore inside, the exterior ambiance was warm and inviting, showcasing the impressive structures and information that piqued my interest for more.
Stop by if you can and learn about the impact Buffalo Bill had on American culture.
Particularly how he helped shape the mythos of the Wild West that we all know today.
Bob, here to take you on a splashing adventure to one of the most unique places on Earth, the Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside of Denver, Colorado!
Our week eleven winner of the GET YOUR BOB ON Contest, Eric from Colorado, introduced me to this spectacular gem.
Eric enjoyed a rocking concert by Jordan Davis in September 2025.
Now, when you think of Red Rocks Park, don’t just picture concertgoers swaying to the music.
Imagine bobbing along amidst a breathtaking backdrop of 738 acres filled with deer, dinosaurs, fabulous pines, and the wide-open prairie.
Standing at a high-flying 6,450 feet above sea level, this is where the Great Plains tango with the Rocky Mountains!
It’s nature’s own blend of stunning vistas and diverse wildlife, making it an enchanting place for land-loving ducks like yours truly.
But let’s talk about the amphitheatre itself.
Can you believe it’s the only naturally-occurring, acoustically perfect venue in the WHOLE world?
Legendary artists, from The Beatles to U2, have graced this incredible stage, and I hear every feathered friend in the crowd feels the spirit!
Now here’s a fun little tidbit: the land where the amphitheatre sits has a history that flows through it like a bubbling brook.
It’s the traditional territory of the Ute, Cheyenne, and Arapahoe Peoples, who have called this stunning area home long before anyone was strumming guitars or blasting beats.
Building the amphitheatre was no small feat. It all began on May 9, 1936, when Denver’s mayor, Benjamin Franklin Stapleton, rallied to make this dream a reality. The project, overseen by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), transformed this beautiful landscape into an acoustic wonder over five years (way longer than most ducks take to find their favourite pond)!
As the workers dug deep with picks and shovels, they removed a whopping 50,000 cubic feet of rock to create the perfect seating area for the audience. And guess what?
Over 90,000 square feet of gorgeous sandstone was laid down to craft the seated oasis, specially quarried to mirror the stunning natural beauty of Red Rocks.
Add to those materials the steel and, of course, the many hours of hard labour and equipment hours, and voila…the amphitheatre comes to life on July 4, 1941.
What did this cost you, may ask? Well, back in the day, the cost was $473,163.56, which is equivalent to over $11 million today!
The Red Rock Amphitheatre has a seating capacity of 9,525 friendly ducklings, and if you climb from the stage to the top, you would have had a 193-stair climbing cardio workout.
From dinosaurs roaming the land millions of years ago to epic rock concerts, Red Rocks Amphitheatre is a treasure trove of history and unforgettable experiences.
So here’s to the splendid moments Eric had at Jordan Davis’s concert and to all the amazing adventures waiting in this iconic venue.

Our week nine winner of the GET YOUR BOB ON contest takes us through Sandy’s tides of life!
Sandy had a marriage that flowed for 24 years. She and her former partner raised two amazing boys – Cameron, nearing the big 3-0, and her baby boy, just a hop away from 28.
Unfortunately, like a boat adrift without a paddle, their love started to drift apart, with her partner choosing a bottle of rum over the love of his life.
Fast forward a few chapters, and Sandy entered a new romance with a fellow from her high school days.
Talk about a fairytale! They tied the knot on Halloween 2021 in a charming church built in the 1800s, draped in black and purple.
Their cake screamed spooky chic – three tiers dressed with black skulls!
Their reception was the talk of the town, and little did they know how fitting the theme would be.
Just three months into their marriage, Sandy faced a storm she never saw coming.
Tragically, her beloved Jason passed away from an overdose, leaving her in a tidal wave of grief, anger, and confusion.
In the wake of heartbreak, Sandy found herself with a life insurance check that felt like a tidal wave of cash – $100,000 floating her way!
Unfortunately, it vanished quicker than a rubber duck at a pool party.
A sports car, souped-up truck, and even a Harley bike slipped through her fingers as she sought happiness in the most temporary of ways.
But like any good adventure, things took a sudden turn.
In 2024, while riding around in her beloved Dodge Scat Pack, she caught a little trouble with the law – hello, DUI! With legal fees looming, Sandy reluctantly listed her cherished Harley on Marketplace.
That’s when Wayne, a true biker, rode into her life. I mean, come on, a leather-clad, gray-bearded legend? How could she resist?
They chatted over time, bridging the 3.5-hour distance between Mocksville and Wilmington.
Wayne shared his journey of recovery, proudly sporting over three years of sobriety.
Sandy, who had never dated a biker before, suddenly realized she’d never dated anyone sober either.
So why not take a chance?
With that twist of fate, Wayne upgraded his ride from Sandy’s Sportster to a much more comfortable Ultra Glide – because let’s be honest, that Sportster seat was not designed for long rides!
And then came that magical Christmas Eve ride.
Sandy felt the warmth of the sun as they cruised down to Wrightsville Beach.
Little did she know, her life was about to take another exhilarating turn!
After a stroll on the sand,
gathering seashells like a true beachcomber,
she turned around to find Wayne, the big bad biker,
on one knee with a ring in hand!
“Yes!!!” she exclaimed, feeling all the love bubble up inside her.
Although they haven’t set a date yet, you can bet it’ll be a beach/biker wedding, draped in the striking colours of orange, black, and white – Harley-Davidson style, of course!
And they’ve even invited me to join in on the fun!
Wilmington promises not just love in the air but also stunning sights like Fort Fisher, an aquarium, engaging battleship tours, and a bunch of beautiful beaches to explore.
So, here’s to Sandy – our week nine winner of the GET YOUR BOB ON contest!
Her journey proves that love, like a well-placed rubber duck, can show up in the most unexpected places.
Let’s celebrate her story and cheer her on as she embraces a new chapter filled with love, laughter, and all the adventures to come!
Bob here, with a splashing good story to tell you all about our week six winner of the Get Your Bob on contest!
Kristen from sunny Florida, who has a BOBortunity that truly warms my little ducky heart – an inspiring collection of ducks!
Kristen’s adventures are legendary!
With her hard-earned coins on hand, she and her husband embark on journeys across the Southern US.
They dive into every claw machine they encounter.
It’s like a treasure hunt, and what treasures have they found?
The most eclectic duck family you could ever imagine!
It all began at a lively bar in Clearwater Beach called The Brown Boxer.
The Brown Boxer is packed with fun games to keep you entertained while you sip a drink. Kristen had her eyes on the prize – a claw machine filled with an assortment of rubber ducks!
With a bit of help from her husband, who seems to be a claw machine pro, they turned a single dollar into a lucky haul of six ducks! Can you believe it?
WOWZA! Being the honest duckies they are, they let the manager know, and he chuckled while giving them the green light to keep all of them.
And just like that, the collection started with the first duck out of the claw, Tampa Bay Lightning Duck!
The hunt for ducks is now a cherished tradition!
Every duck-filled claw machine they come across holds a lucky duck just waiting for Kristen to scoop it up and bring it into her loving flock.
I can only imagine how she would feel if she found me pressed against the glass, urging them to take me home… just kidding!
I adore my human friends way too much to trade them in!
Kristen has amassed a whopping 20 ducks (not counting the three she won since she submitted)!
Each one has a unique name, such as the dashing Zorro Duck, Aqua Duck, and Mr. Duck III.
And how could I forget Vet Duck?
This brave retired army vet is the honorary leader of her flock, making sure everyone follows the ducky house rules!
Among Kristen’s favourites is Navy Duck, which holds a special place in her heart, reminding her of time spent working to secure freedom for all.
And then there’s Ariel the Duckmaid, who is simply the belle of the ball.
But I have my eye on the fabulous Sara Duckasaurus – those purple feathers are the perfect plumage for a night out on the town!
Kristen and her husband have found ducky friends all the way in California, and as local as their neighbourhood bar in Florida, collecting memories along the way.
They’ve discovered ducks in a cozy lodge on Ober Mountain in Tennessee, and even while enjoying pizza in Pigeon Forge.
Adding feathered friends to their family tree at fun gaming spots like Monster Mini Golf and Dave & Buster’s must include hours of entertainment!
A big thank you to Kristen for sharing her delightful BOBortunity with all of us!
Keep on DUCKIN’ and collecting those fabulous friends, because every new addition is just another reason to celebrate!
NEW DUCK ALERT
Just when we thought we had included all the ducks in Kristen’s collection, off she went to Whiskey Jack’s and won three additional friends for the flock!
Duck-leberry and Duck-terrestrial are very colourful friends joining the flock!
But an integral addition is Vet’s new service dog – Spot-Duck!
With Spot always at Vet’s side they are prepared for anything that may come their way!
Today is the day to quack about the incredible escapade of our week five winner, Jeannie, from the Get Your BOB on Contest – she shared her fabulous trip to the legendary Hoover Dam!
Waddle with me as we dive into this exciting journey from the dazzling lights of Las Vegas to this awe-inspiring engineering marvel sitting between Nevada and Arizona!
The Hoover Dam is a towering concrete arch-gravity masterpiece nestled in the stunning Black Canyon of the Colorado River.
It’s not just a dam; it’s a monumental beauty that’s about 35 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. It’s perfect for a day trip full of excitement!
Built during the Great Depression between 1931 and 1936 and dedicated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on September 30, 1935, as the Boulder Dam before reverting to its original name in 1947.
The Hoover Dam was once the tallest in the world. Jeannie could understand why as she stood before it, taking in its staggering height of 726 feet!
She couldn’t help but exclaim, “It’s astonishing what humans can build!” She soaked in the sheer scale and beauty surrounding her – oh, how my little rubber heart wished to float alongside her!
But it wasn’t just fun and games! As Jeannie floated around the dam, a serious expression crossed her face when she looked down at the meandering Colorado River.
She noticed the declining water levels and expressed concern.
“Water is essential for life!” she remarked, reminding us all that even in the shadow of such a magnificent structure, we must think about preserving our precious resources.
Wise words, Jeannie!
When she made her way up to the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, wow, oh wow, what a sight!
The breathtaking views stretched for miles!
The sun was dancing on the river, creating a glittering spectacle!
Jeannie snapped a ton of pictures, trying to capture the tantalizing beauty of this epic landscape.
After soaking in all that wonder, she ventured into the visitor center for a guided tour.
Oh, the stories she brought back! Jeannie couldn’t get enough of the history. The dam not only stood tall amid a challenging time in history, but it is vital today. It generates enough hydroelectric power to energize over 1.3 million people!
Can you quack-believe that?
Jeannie’s eyes sparkled as she learned how it powers Nevada, Arizona, and even California!
But the adventure didn’t stop there! The area around the dam becomes a playground in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Jeannie and her pals set out on a short hike among the colourful rock formations and stunning landscapes.
What a fantastic backdrop for some fun!
As Jeannie wrapped up her tale, she radiated gratitude for the unforgettable day filled with exploration and insight.
What could be better than good friends, incredible scenery and some knowledge to take home with you!
Bob here, and I’m bubbling with excitement to share about a little gem we stumbled upon while drifting from Winnipeg, Manitoba, to visit family in Ottawa, Ontario: Christmas, Michigan!
As we glided eastward, my little rubber eyes spotted a sign that made my beak wiggle with glee, “Welcome to Christmas!”
Can you believe it? A town named after my favourite holiday!
Of course, we had to make a quick stop! With a name like Christmas, how could we resist?
As I held onto my humans, we snapped pictures with a 35-foot-tall Santa, posed next to Frosty the Snowman, and even checked out the North Pole mile marker.
Oh, and let’s not forget the adorable little red “Harley” car!
The place may have a tiny population of about 400, but it felt like we were in a magical wonderland filled with festive cheer and charm.
We continued on our journey East with Christmas in our rearview mirror.
Intrigued and a bit enchanted, I dove into the history of this quirky community tucked along the stunning shores of Lake Superior.
Christmas, Michigan, was founded by Julius Thorson from Munising back in 1938 when he opened a factory for holiday-themed products.
Sadly, a fire in 1940 extinguished his festive operation, but the town’s spirit stayed alive!
Now, it’s a delightful playground of Christmas wonders, with Santa decorations, merry street names, and businesses echoing holiday cheer throughout all seasons.
Speaking of seasons, this charming spot offers something for everyone!
In the summer, you can soak up the sun on pristine beaches, paddle the clear waters of Lake Superior, or hike the breathtaking trails of Hiawatha National Forest.
When winter blankets the ground with 200 inches of snow, grab your cross-country skis or hop on a snowmobile for a thrilling ride through a sparkling winter wonderland!
Or if you are really adventurous, try your skills at ice-climbing!
Just five miles away lies the stunning Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, ideal for an adventurous morning kayak trip!
Uncle Ducky Outdoors provides a cozy glamping experience where you can rent kayaks and canoes to splash around those gorgeous waters.
Oh, how I would love to paddle alongside new pals!
And let’s not forget about the iconic Grand Island West Channel Rear Range Light!
This historic lighthouse stands tall, casting its guiding light across Lake Superior, ready to lead adventurers back to shore!
For year-round entertainment, there is the Kewadin Casino Christmas!
My humans would love to try their luck there!
Though I’m too young for the games, I heard whispers of a delightful eatery called Frosty’s Bar & Grill. Food and fun wrapped in holiday festivities? Count me in!
Here’s something extra festive: on July 8, 1966, Christmas got its very own post office!
It’s a hotspot where visitors flock to send out holiday cards stamped with the joyous “Christmas, Michigan” postmark.
And get this, you don’t even have to travel to send your greetings! You can find all the details online to have your cards mailed straight from Christmas!
I can’t shake the excitement of returning to Christmas, Michigan, to experience its wonders!
It’s astounding how much magic is packed into such a small town.
Who knows, maybe we’ll venture back during the holiday season when everything glimmers with a special spark!
Parker McCollum Concert – Part Four of Four – Headliner – Parker McCollum
Bob, back again for the final and most exciting segment of my adventure at the Parker McCollum concert at the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, North Dakota!
What a splendid soirée it was, and I’m practically bursting to share all the juicy details!
Let me tell you, the atmosphere in the arena was positively electric from the get-go.
We kicked off the evening with the sensational Laci Kaye Booth, who lit up the stage and instantly got everyone’s feet tapping!
Then came the incredibly talented Kameron Marlowe, who brought a wave of energy that had us all singing along.
Before we even knew it Parker was about to take us on a musical journey through the heart of country music.
Now, let’s talk about our main man, Parker McCollum.
Did you know he first picked up a guitar at the tender age of 13?
That’s when his love for music blossomed!
He started strumming those strings and later ventured into harmonica, blending his passion for lyricism with catchy melodies.
You could feel the journey of his rich experiences in every note he played, and it sure resonated with the crowd!
Speaking of the crowd, wow! They were pure magic!
Enthusiastic fans filled the arena, creating a sea of energy that never wavered. Every time Parker kicked off one of his hits, like “Pretty Heart” or “Hell of a Year,” everyone, yes, even this little rubber duck, was singing along.
And guess what? Parker brought Laci and Kameron back on stage for a couple of duets, and the joy in the arena was palpable!
It was a true community of music lovers, united by the love of a good tune!
Oh, and let me tell you about our fantastic seats!
I had the best view in the house. Sitting to the right of the stage, in the second row, I witnessed the behind-the-scenes hustle and bustle of the crew.
They worked tirelessly, setting up lights, adjusting sound equipment, and ensuring everything was perfect for the show.
Their dedication was impressive, and I couldn’t help but admire the hard work that goes into creating an unforgettable concert experience.
But wait, there’s more! This rubber duck got an unexpected backstage pass!
Yes, you heard that right! I was invited backstage along with two lovely fans, Emily and Mariah, who were sitting near us. What a treat it was!
I even got my picture taken with Parker McCollum himself! Can you imagine?
A rubber duck like me, sharing the spotlight with a country music star? It was a dream come true!
As the final notes resonated through the arena and the crowd roared with appreciation, I couldn’t help but feel a wave of inspiration wash over me.
Just like Parker, who turned his passion into a reality, I urge all my fellow ducks and humans alike to chase their dreams and make some ripples in the world!
If you ever find yourself in Grand Forks, make sure to waddle over to the Ralph Engelstad Arena when the concerts roll in.
Whether it’s country, rock, or any music, you can bet your life it will be a spectacular experience!
Parker McCollum Concert – Part Three – Special Guest Number Two – Kameron Marlowe
As soon as Laci Kaye Booth wrapped up her delightful set as the first special guest at the Parker McCollum concert in Grand Forks, North Dakota, I felt the energy in the air shift.
The hardworking stage crew sprang into action, prepping for the second opening act.
The spotlight beamed down, and out walked Kameron Marlowe.
Kameron is a rising star from the cozy town of Cherryville, North Carolina.
While music was at his core by the time he was merely 10, his personal commitment to family needs had him working as a car parts salesman. He also performed gigs locally nights and weekends.
Kameron’s journey took off on Season 15 of The Voice, where his powerful voice not only wowed the judges but captivated audiences everywhere.
He was selected to join Team Shelton and, during the Battle round, was stolen by Team Levine.
Although he did not make it to the end of the show, the experience ignited his passion. This inspired him to move to Nashville to pursue his singing career full-time in the heart of country music.
It was clear that moving to Nashville to chase his dreams was the best decision ever. Since then, he’s released three albums and sent some songs flying up the country charts!
When Kameron and his band hit the stage, the audience sparkled with joy!
He brought his A-game, blending solid traditional country vibes with a splash of modern flair.
As he serenaded the crowd, tracks like “Giving You Up” and “Burning One Down” had everyone swaying and singing along.
I felt the air thrum with emotions, as if he were sharing the most heartfelt secrets through his stories.
The crowd was absolutely entranced, and I couldn’t help but rock along to every beat!
The energy was nothing short of infectious!
Kameron interwove his catchy originals with some beloved covers, creating an electrifying vibe that left everyone buzzing.
It felt as if he was inviting us all into his musical adventure. I reveled in every moment, floating along with the rhythm.
You know it’s a fantastic show when even a rubber duck can’t stay still!
It’s crystal clear to me (and undoubtedly everyone else) that Kameron Marlowe is on the rise. He is making his mark on the country music scene one thrilling performance at a time.
As the final opening act, he set the perfect tone for the night. He transformed the Ralph Engelstad Arena into a magical oasis of country music enthusiasm.
Here I was, just a rubber duck, absolutely mesmerized by the experience!
Stay tuned for part four of the Parker McCollum concert, where the headliner himself takes the stage!
Parker McCollum Concert – Part Two of Four – Special Guest 1 – Laci Kaye Booth
As I floated in the vibrant atmosphere of the Ralph Engelstad Arena, excitement bubbled inside me like a fizzy soda!
I could hardly contain my enthusiasm as the show was about to kick off.
The spotlight ready to shine on the incredible Laci Kaye Booth, one of the shining stars opening for the amazing Parker McCollum.
Oh, what a delightful ride this was going to be!
But hold on a quacky second…where was I going?
The fabulous gals beside my humans whisked me away for a chance to meet Parker up close!
While I soaked up all the stardom, my humans happily settled in to catch Laci’s performance.
Now, let me tell you about Laci Kaye Booth, hailing from the charming little town of Woodville, Texas!
Growing up in a musical family, she was surrounded by the sweet sounds of creativity from a young duckling.
Her dad, a musician, certainly ignited Laci’s passion for singing!
With her roots deeply planted in country music, it’s no wonder Laci burst forth into the star we’re all excited to see today.
Laci burst onto the national stage when she competed on “American Idol” in 2019, and boy, did she make waves!
Her performances, packed with her unique vocal flair and a heartwarming connection to the audience, propelled her straight into the Top 5.
Watching her journey unfold was like watching a rubber duckling transform into a magnificent swan!
The overwhelming support from her family, fans, and judges fueled her flames of determination.
After the show, instead of fading away, she soared even higher, ready to claim her space in the world of country music!
Fast-forward to today, and Laci Kaye Booth has truly found her voice in this ever-evolving musical landscape.
With catchy singles like “Treasure” and “Damn Good in a Dive Bar,” she masterfully blends heartfelt lyrics with melodies that stick in your head!
I could feel the anticipation building in the crowd as they eagerly awaited her performance.
And then, it happened! Laci stepped onto that stage, radiating energy and charm like a dazzling firework!
The moment she began to sing, you could feel the connection in the air, like a warm hug on a chilly day.
Her powerful voice, combined with her charismatic presence, lit up the arena and captivated everyone’s hearts!
What really struck my humans was how she made everyone feel like VIPs.
During her performance, it felt like she was singing just for them, connecting through shared emotions and stories that wrapped around the audience like a cozy blanket.
With each note, I saw beaming smiles and swaying bodies! It was pure magic that transcended age and background; every soul was swept away with her charm.
As Laci wrapped up her captivating set, I floated back to my humans, quacking with glee like a happy little waterfowl!
Her talent, passion, and authenticity shone brightly, setting the stage perfectly for the next opening act.
The equally talented Kameron Marlowe, who would be followed by none other than Parker McCollum himself!
What a night to celebrate the spirit of live music, community, connection, and the sheer joy of sharing unforgettable experiences!
Here’s to Laci Kaye Booth, the wonderfully talented singer-songwriter who made this little rubber duck’s heart sing!
If you ever get the chance to see her live, trust me, you’re in for a spectacular splash of talent and warmth that will leave you wanting more!
Stay tuned for part three, where I can’t wait to quack all about Kameron Marlowe!
Parker McCollum Concert – Part One of Four – The Venue – Ralph Englestad Arena
It takes a lot of great attributes to assure a successful concert, starting with the venue.
As I floated into the vibrant atmosphere of the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, North Dakota, I could hardly contain my excitement!
I was there to attend the Parker McCollum concert, and wow, what an experience it was!
This is no ordinary venue; it’s a dazzling landmark that combines history, community spirit, and a touch of rubber duck charm.
Let’s dive into the history of this magnificent arena, which has been a central hub of entertainment and athleticism since its grand opening in 2001.
Built through a generous donation by Ralph Engelstad himself, an alum of the University of North Dakota (UND). This arena was designed not just as a home for hockey but as a cornerstone for the community.
Engelstad envisioned a space that would leave a lasting legacy, and boy, did he deliver!
With a seating capacity of over 12,000, the Ralph Engelstad Arena is one of the region’s premier venues.
It’s primarily renowned as the home of the UND Fighting Hawks ice hockey team.
The atmosphere during hockey games is electric, with fans donning green and white as they chant and cheer.
Watching those thrilling games must truly make you feel like part of something bigger, like being in the middle of a giant, joyous rubber duck pond!
But it’s not just hockey that makes this place special.
The arena has evolved into a multi-purpose venue that hosts an array of events year-round.
From exhilarating concerts (like the one I attended) to graduation ceremonies, community events, and even figure skating shows, there’s never a dull moment here!
I could practically feel the excitement in the air as Parker McCollum hit the stage, his lively performance had the crowd singing and dancing in unison!
As I lounged in the crowd, I noticed the stunning design of the arena, which makes it a visual delight.
The glass-enclosed concourses offer fantastic views of the action, whether on the ice or on stage.
And let’s not forget the state-of-the-art sound system and lighting that enhance every event!
It’s like the performance is tailored just for me, and I couldn’t help but bob along with the music.
What’s even cooler is the way the arena embraces its community.
With numerous outreach programs and events, the Ralph Engelstad Arena has become a beloved gathering place for everyone.
Families, students, and fans all come together, creating a sense of unity that makes my little rubber duck heart swell with joy.
It’s not just a venue; it’s a living, breathing part of Grand Forks that constantly adapts and grows.
As the concert wrapped up and the lights dimmed, I couldn’t help but reflect on the magical evening spent at the Ralph Engelstad Arena.
It’s a venue that captures the spirit of Grand Forks, showcasing the community’s best while providing an unforgettable experience for concert-goers and sports fans alike.
When in Grand Forks, make sure to waddle over to the Ralph Engelstad Arena.
Whether you’re there for a hockey game, a concert, or a community event, know this little rubber duck knows you’re in for a spectacular time!
As I floated along the Red River in Grand Forks, North Dakota, my little rubber duck heart raced with excitement, my next adventure was taking place at Badman Design (Bd)!
This vibrant hub of creativity is not just a shop; it’s a treasure trove of artistic genius and innovation brought to life by the talented owner, David Badman.
David has been making artistic waves in the Grand Forks scene since 1988!
This charming metalsmith crafts spectacular, one-of-a-kind pieces that can fit just about any occasion.
His design lab and showroom are nestled in historic downtown Grand Forks, where locals can watch the magic unfold.
Let’s take a little splash back in time!
David’s family moved to Grand Forks from the UK in 1975 as part of a US Air Force transfer.
David shared with me that the environment was less than welcoming to newcomers at the time.
David struggled to find his way and started to stray down a less-than-desirable path.
But then he discovered his creativity and channelled his energy in a new direction.
When he told his mom he wanted to go back to school, she was surprised and thrilled. He completed a Fine Arts degree at the University of North Dakota and, with a dream in his heart, opened his first business, Studio 18, in 1988, a bold move indeed!
He had found his calling!
His business took on a life of its own, with his creations being showcased in high-end retailers across the United States and Canada.
He hit a point where he overwhelmed by replenishment orders coming in faster than he would have dreamed.
Sometimes success has to be tempered!
So, he closed his Studio 18, regrouped and channelled his efforts into managing a pizza restaurant.
The lure of his passion for art kept calling, and he knew he had to reinsert himself in the world that held his heart.
Welcome to the creation of Badman Designs, affectionately and creatively known as Bd!
His studio grew from a tiny shoebox to a spacious, 5,000-square-foot treasure trove of creativity!
Originally known for dazzling jewelry, he has brilliantly expanded his artistry to include everything from household designs to stunning outdoor sculptures.
What makes David’s work truly unique is his playful blend of mixed metals and terra-cotta clay.

You’ve got to love sustainable artistry, especially when it’s this chic.
The magic doesn’t stop with David; the whole Bd Design crew is a delightful mix of creative minds, all eager to engage visitors and share their artistic insights.

It’s like one big creative family, and I, of course, fit right in with the fun!
If you’re lucky, you might even snag a behind-the-scenes look at his latest designs.
Each piece is crafted right in the studio!
Everything from jewelry to furnishings to sculptures is being born within those creative walls.
A highlight of my visit was the unveiling of the 2025 Christmas ornament, number 30 of an annual tradition eagerly anticipated by folks in Grand Forks.
This year’s ornament was nothing short of a masterpiece, combining festive charm and local flavour.
Crafting these ornaments is a labour of love, each one capturing the spirit of the season while also showcasing the unique vibe of the area.
My human couldn’t resist and purchased the exquisite ornament.
A stylish stand to display the ornament.
And a pair of stunning earrings crafted by the talented team!
Talk about a perfect keepsake from an unforgettable visit!
As I bobbed around, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of community and joy emanating from everyone who walked through the doors of Bd Design.
It’s more than just a shop; it’s a haven for creativity, collaboration, and holiday cheer.
Just imagine receiving a gift from Bd where even the opening of the gift has an artistic flair!

This little rubber duck knows you won’t leave empty-handed—quack on, artistic friends!
As I floated blissfully along the banks of the Red River, my little rubber duck heart was fluttering with excitement for my next grand adventure at the Red River Zoo in Fargo, North Dakota!
This enchanting wildlife haven is a treasure trove for curious critters like me, offering a chance to explore and learn about fascinating animals from every corner of the globe, all while soaking up the picturesque beauty of the Midwest.
Stepping into the zoo, I was welcomed by the warm smiles of the friendly staff, whose enthusiasm matched my own!
They clearly poured their hearts into caring for the animals, ensuring they were well-fed, healthy, and happy.
On this sunlit mid-morning, it seemed all the creatures had decided to lounge in the warm sunshine of their habitats, creating a relaxed atmosphere that added to my excitement.
I was immediately greeted at the fence by my feathery friend, the majestic White Naped Crane. Did you know they’re bordering on extinction?
I felt a little quack of concern for their future. If only I could spread the word about these extraordinary birds to everyone who visited the zoo!
As I waddled along, I longed to meet the Bactrian Camels up close, but they were too busy soaking up the sun to notice a little duck like me floating by.
No worries, though, because the Sichuan Takins were putting on a delightful show, playfully engaging with one another!
I couldn’t help but stop and watch their antics; their fuzzy coats and cheerful playfulness were utterly contagious!
In my travels, I also encountered a Grey Wolf, who was busy showcasing his incredible howling skills. I attempted to join in, but my little quacks could hardly compare to that eerie, powerful sound! Oh, how I admired him from afar!
Then, out of nowhere, I spotted a fellow air traveller, the majestic Bald Eagle!
Oh, how my rubber ducky heart swelled with pride to be in the same family as this magnificent bird.
I could practically feel the strength and freedom radiating from him!
My adventure among the animals was delightful, but since they kept their distance, I had to seek out close-up pictures to better showcase their awesomeness!
Watching all the families run excitedly from one exhibit to the next filled my little heart with joy.
Amidst the laughter and the sound of happy squeals was a whimsical building that piqued my curiosity.
I peeked in and was astonished; it was like stepping into a carnival!
With childlike wonder, I waddled right in.
Inside was a beautifully restored 1928 Allan Herchell carousel! Can you believe it?
In 1998, Warren Diederich graciously donated this spinning delight.
His love for carousels stemmed from childhood memories of his neighbours fixing them and the joy he experienced riding one.
What a sweet way to share happiness with the children of Fargo-Moorhead!
After a whirl on the carousel, I glided into the gift shop, a treasure chest brimming with goodies for every critter lover!
Plush toys representing the zoo’s residents, educational books that ignite curiosity, and little trinkets galore!
I absolutely had to snag a small souvenir to remember my fabulous visit!
As I bobbed along, soaking in the joy of the zoo, it quickly became clear that the Red River Zoo is much more than just a home for animals.
Their commitment to conservation, education, and fostering a connection between humans and wildlife makes for a vibrant community experience.
Bob here, exploring the Fargo Air Museum in Fargo, North Dakota!
Step aside, because I’m about to take you on a flight of fancy through this airborne wonderland that has been soaring high since 1999!
This museum is like a treasure chest filled with North Dakota’s rich aviation history, all designed to make anyone’s heart flutter!
You’ve got to see it to believe it, but allow me to waddle you through some of the sparkling gems that made my little rubber heart leap with joy.
First up is my new hero, the North American P-51 Mustang!
This dazzling fighter is celebrated as one of the best American aircraft from World War II.
Powered by the legendary Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, it established itself as the ultimate warplane.
What a legacy! I can only imagine all the daring adventures it embarked on through the skies!
Next, I waddled over to the astonishing nose of Woodpecker 406, the legendary Bell UH-1 Iroquois, lovingly nicknamed the “Huey.”
This helicopter isn’t just a pretty face; it played a vital role in the U.S. armed forces during the Vietnam War!
Designed in the late 1950s by Bell Helicopter, the Huey became famous for troop transport, medical evacuations, and logistical support.
Talk about a hard-working bird!
But wait, the excitement doesn’t just hover there! I flapped my feet with glee as I approached the pinnacle of the skies: the Douglas DC-3!
Introduced in the 1930s, this magnificent aircraft revolutionized air travel, serving both commercial airlines and wartime missions.
Just thinking about all the stories and beautiful destinations it has seen makes my rubber heart swell with joy.
I imagined soaring above the clouds, peeking down at the ground below, and oh, what a dream that would be!
Oh, and let me tell you about the Wright Flyer!
This iconic aircraft was born from years of glider trials at Kitty Hawk between 1900 and 1902.
The pilot would lay on their stomach to reduce drag while steering by moving a cradle attached to their hips.
This stunning replica, made in honour of the 100th anniversary in 2003, is one of the best in the country! Isn’t that just flutter-tastic?
And wait, there’s more than just planes here!
I was cautiously excited as I waddled alongside a military-armed truck, guns mounted on the back.
Just picturing this vehicle in action sent chills down my rubbery spine!
As I explored further, I was delighted by the tribute wall honoring North Dakota’s daring flying aces!
Each aviator has a unique story worth celebrating, from World War I heroes to innovative legends of today.
Their courage and contributions are truly inspiring!
I floated past a wonderland of aircraft models and aviation memorabilia, each exhibit beckoning with tales of adventure.
The museum isn’t just a showcase of history; it’s a hands-on adventure!
They have interactive exhibits where aspiring pilots can take a seat in flight simulators. Just thinking about the laughter and excitement in the air filled my rubber heart with joy.
This airborne paradise is bustling year-round with events that keep the excitement alive!
From bingo nights and movie screenings to charity socials and puzzle and pizza nights, it’s a hive of activity that never tires.
The incredible crew at the Fargo Air Museum ensure that every visit is a fresh and delightful experience!
Each visit to the Fargo Air Museum promises a fresh experience filled with creativity and enthusiasm from the team that keeps this place soaring high.
If you ever find yourself floating near Fargo, make sure you dive into the marvellous world of the Fargo Air Museum!
Whether you’re an aviation aficionado or just a friendly rubber ducklet like me, there’s something here that will surely make your heart soar!
I’ve floated through a sea of adventures, but nothing quite tickles my feathers like the story of the infamous woodchipper from the movie Fargo!
You see, this curious contraption now sits proudly in the welcome center of Fargo, North Dakota.
The woodchipper has become a quirky emblem of the film Fargo’s delightfully dark humour.
Released back in 1996, Fargo, directed by the brilliant Coen brothers, unravels a tale of desperation and chaos.
Enter Jerry Lundegaard, a well-meaning but hapless car salesman caught in a whirlwind of criminal misadventures.
When he’s desperate for cash to save his skin,
he devises a scheme to kidnap his own wife and
wrangle a fortune from his affluent father-in-law.
But boy, does this plan spiral into a comical disaster!
And right at the center of it all is that fateful woodchipper: definitely not your average garden tool!
This woodchipper is more than just a piece of machinery; it’s a symbol of the absurdity and dark turns of Jerry’s misguided decisions.
Picture this: amidst the snowy landscapes of North Dakota, it becomes the shocking focal point of a scene where humour clashes with horror, classic Coen-style!
It perfectly illustrates the extremes to which folks go when they’re tangled in their own schemes, leaving viewers gasping and chuckling all at once.
The filming locations for Fargo are a sight to behold!
The Coen brothers captured the essence of the region: the stark beauty of icy winters and that unmistakable small-town charm.
I can imagine how captivating it must have been for the filmmakers to work amidst such breathtaking scenery, all while adding intensity to the gripping narrative.
Now, here I am, a cheerful little rubber duck, getting up close and personal with the real-life woodchipper!
It’s a delightful blend of fascination and just a hint of “yikes!”! How can such a quaint town harbour such a twisted plot?
It’s a true testament to the Coen brothers’ storytelling prowess that this woodchipper has become a celebrated icon of Fargo’s identity.
And for any of you that spend time with locals in North Dakota, you will undoubtedly hear some of the infamous quotes from the movie, like “Geez” or one of my favourites, “There’s more to life than a little money, you know…”
So, whether you’re a film buff, an adventurous traveller, or just a curious rubber duck like me, the woodchipper in Fargo is a quirky gem that deserves a visit!
It’s not just a relic of cinema history; it’s a reminder of how storytelling can be both chill-inducing and utterly captivating.
Bob here, sailing along the banks of the Red River, when I couldn’t resist the siren call of Bonanzaville USA in Fargo, North Dakota!
This magnificent indoor-outdoor museum sprawls over a fabulous 12 acres: just enough space for a curious critter like me to waddle into a world of wonder!
As I flapped in with my little duck feet, I was swept away by the sights and sounds of this charming village, a true time machine that lets you experience a slice of frontier life.
With the community’s heart and soul poured into countless historical goodies collected over the years.
Every building is brimming with stories just waiting to bounce off my beak!
First stop? The enchanting Telephone Museum! Oh boy, was I quacking with excitement!
I marvelled at the evolution of communication from ancient crank phones to modern gadgets that fit in our pockets.
And guess what? I even got to make a live call to one of my humans!
Just think of all the gossip that must have floated through those vintage phones, with eavesdroppers on the party lines sharing secrets like ducks sharing breadcrumbs!
Next, I waddled over to the quaint church, where the wood interior and altar sparkled in the sunshine.
You could almost hear the echoes of joyous hymns and laughter from weddings long past, a reminder of the love that filled those hallowed halls!
Oh boy, the Old West saloon, what a hoot!
The rustic charm brought to life a scene where cowboys might have swapped tall tales over a friendly game of cards, while a lively piano serenaded the crowd.
I tried my luck at renting a room from one of my human pals, but alas, she quacked back, “No credit, no key!” Better luck next time, I suppose!
Just a hop and a flap away was the Law Enforcement Museum, showcasing uniforms and badges from the days of yore.
I slipped into the line-up for the infamous Wanted Posters: there I was, next to the legendary Jesse James! But oh no, my human and I ended up behind bars!
At least I had my human to keep me company!
Next up, I floated into the barber shop, where the scent of pomade tickled my little beak.
I could picture all the chatter and laughter that filled the air as folks got their haircuts, sharing stories and creating friendships that shaped this vibrant village.
Oh, and the bank! What a treasure trove of history!
The old safes whispered tales of hard-earned pennies and dreams of brighter futures. A living testament to how the USA has evolved.
A sign caught my eye, showing how, in just 100 years, the U.S. had dropped from 4.6 million farms to 2.1 million.
During that same 100-year period, productivity skyrocketed, dropping from 42 minutes to gather a bushel of wheat to a mere 30 seconds with mechanized harvesting.
Unbelievable how humans have evolved!
And then, the pièce de résistance: the Automobile Museum!
Vintage Cars
Early Snowmobiles
Horse Drawn Sleighs
Helicopters
more cars
Trucks
Stage Coaches
Dairy Delivery
and even more cars
Delivery Vehicles
Fire Trucks
Police Cars
Airplanes
more airplanes
and even more airplanes
However, there was one vehicle that didn’t tickle my fancy: the horse-drawn hearse.
Hearse
It was beautiful, sure, but I’m hoping for many more joyful years before I take a farewell ride in that!
As I quacked through this delightful village, my rubber duck heart soared with joy!
Bonanzaville is alive with the spirit of community, piecing together history one charming exhibit at a time.
Each nook and cranny reveals something new, like the little glass jars lined up in the pharmacy or the vintage clothing displayed in the main museum, transporting you to yesteryear.
Even the first house ever in Fargo has been relocated to Bonanzaville!
I had so much fun creating memories with my humans!
To truly capture the true essence of Bonanzaville, you have to experience it live!
Carve out a few hours during your next visit to Fargo, North Dakota, to explore the rich history showcased at Bonanzaville.
Bob here, with my final story about my epic journey to collect all 24 passport stamps at Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest 2025.
This final stop? None other than the Lake of the Ozarks Harley-Davidson dealership!
I’m perched triumphantly on Goldie, filled with excitement as my favourite humans,
the illustrious Support Bikers Crew, roll into stop number 24 of the legendary Passport Run.
As we cruised into the dealership, I couldn’t help but notice the vibrant crowd of bikers—exhausted yet buzzing with exhilaration!
Everyone was revved up to get their passports stamped, daydreaming about the chance to score a stunning new Harley.
Now, let me tell you, this dealership is a true gem for motorcycle enthusiasts!
It’s been a key player in the growth of Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest since 2006.

The mission of Support Bikers is to bring the biker community together by forming the largest online network accessible by anyone.
Since its inception, the dynamic duo of Sonny and Angie have grown this network to over 80,000…what a great inspiration!
With around 50 fellow bike enthusiasts in our convoy, the excitement was contagious as we rolled out of Lake of the Ozarks, the sun shining down on our journey.
Our first stop? The hilarious Uranus Fudge Factory!
What a sweet treat it was, both the fudge and the laughs! The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with laughter and the smell of delicious fudge wafting through the air. Everyone was in high spirits, taking photos and enjoying the playful vibes all around.
After indulging our sweet tooth, we made our way to 28 Shots Bar and Grill for lunch.
The food was fantastic, and sharing stories with fellow riders was the highlight of the meal.
As we gathered around, the camaraderie among us was apparent.
Igniting a sense of unity that only comes from being part of such a fantastic group.
The best part of the ride?
Knowing that the $685 in proceeds from our adventure were going to the Wrecked Rider Fund, supporting bikers who find themselves in tough times after accidents. It felt good to know we were making a difference while doing something we love.
With our bellies full and our spirits high, we headed back to Lake of the Ozarks.
The wind in our hair and the roar of the engines created a symphony of freedom on the open road. This ride was a beautiful reminder of why we come together as a community: an all-inclusive family of riders supporting one another.
Thank you, Support Bikers, for creating a great biker community!

This family has shared countless adventures and lasting memories with generations of enthusiasts. As I floated around, I heard stories of happy customers who come back time and again for their top-notch service. They provide expert advice and the warm, personal touch that only a locally-rooted business can provide.
Whether you’re ready to zoom across the water on a sleek Yamaha® jet ski
