National Corvette Museum – Bowling Green, Kentucky

Bob here, reporting from my egg-citing adventure at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky!

I couldn’t resist paddling over to dive into the dazzling world of America’s favourite sports car!

Whistles and cheerful honking of horns greeted me in the lobby!

It was a celebration fit for a Corvette superstar.

A lucky new owner was picking up their sparkling blue ride right in the museum, not at the factory across the street.

What a grand entrance!

Everyone gathered around, clapping and cheering as the thrilled owner cruised off in their shiny pride and joy.

Once I float into the main halls of the museum, my rubbery eyes widen with joy.

Corvettes galore glimmer like jewels from every decade!

Car enthusiasts buzz around like bees in a flower patch, and their excitement is utterly contagious!

The museum takes visitors on a thrilling ride through Corvette history.

Showcasing incredible design prototypes all the way to legendary models.

And boy, did I find a couple of faves that made my feathers ruffle joyfully!

Let’s dive right into the star of my show: the infamous ‘Ugly Duckling’ Corvette (officially known as the Corvette XP819 from 1964).

Talk about a unique design!

This beauty didn’t make it to the production line. Perhaps its tail was too long or its nose too pointy!

The ‘Ugly Duckling’ is a proud symbol of the Corvette’s history of daring to be different!

This quirky gem influenced the striking 1968 Corvette. If you squint just right, you might see some family resemblance between us: both champions of individuality!

Then there is the show-stopper: a bright red 1961 Corvette from country superstar Brad Paisley’s collection!

Impeccably restored, it showcases the rich history and iconic design of the Corvette!

The chrome accents shine under the lights and the interior – simply stunning with luxurious leather seats.

Brad loves that car so much that even his tour bus is painted to match!

Through interactive exhibits that brought Corvette history to life, I discovered the rich racing legacy and groundbreaking innovations behind the Corvette.

Did you know Corvettes are affectionately dubbed America’s sports car?

After spending time at the Corvette Museum, I have to agree!

And let’s not forget about the gift shop, what a treasure trove!

After looking high and low for rubber duckies without any luck, I snagged a Matchbox Corvette to cuddle in my wings!

The perfect souvenir to remember my quack-tastic time!

Minuteman Missile Site – Cooperstown, North Dakota

Today, I am wading into the tales of history with my trusty human companions at the legendary Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile Silos.

I was travelling with brave U.S. military veterans near Cooperstown, North Dakota, who made the visit even more meaningful.

The air was thick with curiosity, and I quacked in excitement as the stories began to unfold around me.

Originally built during the height of the Cold War, these silos were part of the U.S. Army’s Minuteman missile system.

This system was a critical deterrent against the towering threat of nuclear conflict, particularly from the Soviet Union.

Established in the early 1960s, this strategic network aimed to provide a swift counterstrike capability.

The Minuteman missiles, capable of being launched within minutes, were deeply buried beneath the surface. Hidden from sight and fortified to withstand a first strike.

The silos themselves were a marvel of engineering. Hardened concrete structures that housed the missiles ensured they remained safe and operational even in the direst of circumstances.

Each silo was equipped with advanced technology that enabled remote missile launches.

A pair of Air Force officers would be stationed in a command capsule, constantly on alert. Ready to respond at a moment’s notice. Just imagining all that technology beneath my little duck flippers sent shivers of awe through me!

The operation of these sites continued with rigorous protocols, ensuring both security and functionality.

Each missile silo was equipped with multiple safety measures to prevent unauthorized access. I must say, it was a little ominous but entirely necessary.

The veterans in our group appreciated the heavy burden of responsibility borne by those who guarded these missile systems.

As history marched onward, the presence of these missile silos came to symbolize the shifting tides of global relations.

With the Cold War extending into the late 1980s, there was a sense of urgency, yet also a growing desire for peace.

In 1983, the Reagan administration chose to modernize the nuclear arsenal and missile systems.

Ironically, the very name “Reagan” set a new tone for discussions around nuclear arms, pushing nations towards disarmament rather than conflict.

By the late 1990s, relations with former adversaries had evolved. The vintage technology became less relevant, and the decision to decommission the silos marked the end of an era.

The Cold War had melted into a history that many hoped would never repeat itself.

While some silos were dismantled, others remain as poignant reminders of the past, standing like silent sentinels over the flat North Dakota landscape.

As I bobbed around, I couldn’t help but marvel at the layers of history beneath our feet.

It was intriguing, yet a little eerie, to think about the fortifications and the measures put in place to protect the nation that existed right there in the heart of the Midwest.

I quacked in appreciation for the military veterans in our group, recognizing their contributions and the complex legacy of the very sites we visited.

So there I was, a humble rubber duck, floating alongside proud defenders of freedom.

Soaking up the stories of the Ronald Reagan Missileman Silos—truly a fascinating chapter in the ever-evolving tale of national security!

Uranus Fudge Factory – Anderson, Indiana

Hey there, my fellow adventure seekers! It’s your pal Bob the Rubber Duck, and oh boy, do I have a quacking good story to share!

Recently, my human companions and I took a detour that had us all giggling with glee: a trip to the Uranus Fudge Factory in Anderson, Indiana! Buckle up, because this peculiar ride is packed with sweetness and silliness!

The original Uranus Fudge Factory opened in Missouri in 2015 and quickly became a fan favourite. The mastermind behind this magical store is none other than Louie Keen, who created an atmosphere bursting with joy and laughter. With locations sprouting up in Indiana, including Anderson and Richmond, fudge lovers from all over are flocking to experience this delightful destination.

From quirky branding to an array of fudge flavours, it’s a stop you absolutely can’t miss!

Upon arrival, I was greeted with big, bright smiles from the staff. “Welcome to Uranus!” they cheerfully exclaimed, setting an upbeat tone for our visit. In that moment, I felt right at home in this candy-coated carnival of sweets!

The Uranus Fudge Factory is more than just a candy shop; it’s a treasure trove of fun!

This place has become the go-to pitstop for travellers searching for silliness and scrumptious treats.

And let me tell you, the fudge is made fresh daily—hand-cut and packed to perfection! It’s no wonder everyone declares,

“The Best Fudge Comes from Uranus!”

Watching them whip up those gooey delights was nothing short of mesmerizing! Then came my moment of bliss: sampling flavours that had my rubber ducky taste buds tingling! From classic chocolate to wild concoctions like peanut butter bacon fudge—talk about an unexpected (but delicious) twist that made me quack with joy!

The vibrant decor was an explosion of playful puns and eye-catching signs—it felt like stepping right into a comedy fantasy! Every corner was a photo op waiting to happen, and I was ready to strike a pose!

One of my favourite highlights was getting an up-close view of all the quirky statues, cut-outs, and attractions.

From zoo animals to kissing booths, the smiles just kept on coming from Uranus.

Obviously Uranus Fudge Factory isn’t just about the sweetness; it’s a whole celebration of fun and laughter!

The quirky vibes and silly themes kept everyone beaming from ear to ear. Here, joy is as essential as the fudge itself, and I soaked in every hilarious second!

If you ever find yourself on a road trip through Indiana or Missouri and spot that irresistible Uranus Fudge Factory sign, don’t hesitate—pull over and dive into URANUS where you will experience laughter, scrumptious fudge, and the warmest welcome around.

Birthplace of Captain Kirk – Riverside, Iowa

Hello there! Today I am reminiscing about bobbing along the delightful English River, imagining myself as Captain Kirk on a starship-like adventure!

You wouldn’t believe the wild tales I’ve encountered. Especially the one about Riverside, Iowa—a tiny town with dreams a-plenty. Not the least of which is shouting from the rooftops that it’s the future birthplace of none other than the iconic Captain Kirk!

Let me take you back to 1985. At that time, Steve Miller, who just so happens was a City Council member and a hardcore Star Trek fan, decided to “Boldly go where no man had gone before”.

Inspired by Gene Roddenberry’s legendary book, The Making of Star Trek, where Roddenberry reveals that James Tiberius Kirk is supposedly born in Iowa. Steve thought,

“Why not Riverside?”

Can you believe it?

And guess what? His bold proposal passed through the City Council like a shuttlecraft through space! Talk about cosmic destiny! Indeed, one can say the spirit of Captain Kirk inspired him.

Riverside’s Kirk connection got a dazzling boost when, in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, our fearless captain confirmed he hails from this very town!

To commemorate this epic story, Riverside erected a fabulous monument that boldly proclaims,

“Riverside, Iowa: Future Birthplace of Captain James T. Kirk.”

Fun fact: the plaque says Kirk popped into the universe on March 22, 2228—making it even more special because that’s also the birthday of the legendary actor, William Shatner! Now that’s what I call a cosmic coincidence!

Now, let me tell you about the cherry on top—The Voyage Home Riverside History Center, which locals affectionately call the “Star Trek Museum.”

It’s a haven filled to the brim with Star Trek-themed exhibits, including a time capsule and a Star Trek bathroom (yes, you heard that right!). There is also an awesome tribute to the fascinating women of Star Trek.

Imagine this: when it opened on June 27, 2008, the original Chekov himself, Walter Koenig, floated in to cut the ribbon! It was a momentous day for fans of Captain Kirk.

It’s not just a museum; it’s a joyous celebration!

The center beautifully merges Riverside’s past with its spirited connection to the Star Trek universe. It showcases memorabilia, NASA displays, and even a tribute to William Shatner’s visit. Wowza!

And then every June, Riverside turns its excitement up to warp speed with an incredible bash called Trek Fest.

Oh boy, oh boy—it’s like a universal party where Trekkies gather to revel in the magic of Star Trek! There’s parading and trivia games that really put your knowledge to the test. An irresistible charm fills the air as everyone gets decked out as their favourite characters.

You’ll find folks like Spock, Uhura, and even Klingons waddling around—nothing beats a gathering like this!

So here I float, soaking up the sun and the laughter, marvelling at the creativity and enthusiasm radiating from both locals and visitors. Much like Captain Kirk would have appreciated.

Riverside, Iowa, the quirky little gem, truly embodies the spirit and legacy of Captain James T. Kirk!

With each wave and ripple, I can’t help but quack with joy at the vibrant tapestry of history, fun, and community.

Who knew being a rubber duck could lead me on such a stellar adventure?

Out and About – Pontiac, Illinois

Hey there, fellow adventure buddies! It’s me, Bob the Rubber Duck, ready to quack about my latest splash-tastic adventure in the charming town of Pontiac, Illinois! Grab your seats and let’s dive into this delightful journey through a historic downtown bursting with colour, stories, and quirky finds!

We only had one night to dive into this gem, located just 100 miles outside of Chicago, on our way back from a whirlwind business trip. Little did we know, Pontiac is the kind of place that deserves WAY more than just a night. A proper soak in all its splendour is necessary! But hey, we made the most of our short visit. And what an adventure it was!

First stop: the welcoming shores of the Pontiac Best Western! As soon as we waddled in, we were greeted with cozy accommodations and smiles as warm as a summer day. This was the perfect little nest to rest our feathery bodies after a long day of cruising the highways.

As we took to the streets of the historic downtown, I was absolutely wowed by the dazzling murals that covered the walls like a vibrant patchwork quilt!

Each mural is a little story in itself – celebrating Pontiac’s rich history, quirky culture, and the spirit of the famous Route 66.

Now, let’s talk history!

Did you know that Abraham Lincoln spent time in Pontiac as a young lawyer?

It’s true! The future president honed his skills here, tackling cases and leaving a mark on this charming town.

Who would’ve thought I’d stumble upon the tale of the humble prairie lawyer who soared to become one of America’s most iconic figures?

Next, we waddled right into a cool find: “Bob’s Road Yacht”!

Yep, you heard it – another BOB for the record books! This one’s Bob Waldmire, the legendary Route 66 artist.

His “road yacht” is an old school bus transformed into a travelling art studio! Talk about a mobile masterpiece!

And, of course, no grand adventure would be complete without tasting the local fare!

We hopped into delightful eateries where we indulged in everything from classic comfort food to scrumptious local dishes. Each had our taste buds doing a happy dance!

Each bite was a tasty tribute to the heart and soul of Pontiac.

Let me tell you, Pontiac, Illinois, isn’t just another spot on the map – it’s where small-town America shines like a beacon! From the moment we rolled into town, it felt like a nostalgic trip back. Those were the days when the journey was just as thrilling as the destination. With the historic Route 66 weaving through downtown, Pontiac embodies the spirit of the Mother Road. It has attracted travellers from all corners of the globe!

As my adventure in Pontiac came to a close, my little rubber heart was overflowing with gratitude. I was thankful for the chance to experience such a charming slice of Americana.

You can bet I’m adding a repeat visit to my travel wish list to soak in all the wonders I missed! From swinging bridges to Looking for Lincoln to museums, golfing and watersports, Pontiac has something for everyone!

High Ground Veterans Memorial Park – Niellsville, Wisconsin

Hello there, friends! Bob the Rubber Duck here, and let me tell you, I recently took a little detour on my road trip that turned out to be one of the most heartwarming experiences of my life.

I ventured to High Ground Veterans Memorial Park in Neillsville, Wisconsin, and oh, was it worth every splash!

Nestled just three miles from Neillsville, this expansive 155-acre park is not just a beautiful landscape; it’s a heartfelt tribute to all those who’ve bravely served in our armed forces.

This park is founded by a dedicated team of veterans and supporters who wanted to create a space for healing, education, and honoring our heroes.

High Ground truly embodies its mission: to “Honor, Educate, and Heal.” Talk about a noble cause!

As I waddled through the park, I was immediately captivated by the meticulously maintained grounds.

The lush greenery and winding hiking trails offer a peaceful refuge for visitors, allowing for quiet reflection amid the various tributes.

Speaking of tributes, there are over a dozen throughout the park!

Each one tells a unique story of sacrifice and service, from the poignant Wisconsin Vietnam Veterans Tribute, known as “Fragments,” to the National Native American Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

As I paddled through the park, I saw dedicated tributes to various conflicts:

the Korean Veterans Memorial,

the Persian Gulf Tribute,

and the Military Dog Tribute.

There are heartfelt installations:

The Fountain of Tears

The Ascension of Doves

Each tribute seemed to have its own unique energy, and I could feel the respect and gratitude emanating from every corner.

A museum in the park plays a vital role in its mission.

It houses The High Ground Registry Books, where families can record the stories of their loved ones who are honored by the Legacy Honor Stones scattered throughout the park.

What a beautiful way to keep memories alive! The museum regularly hosts exhibits that celebrate the military experience, bringing history to life in an engaging and meaningful way.

I learned that the park is as much about community as it is about remembrance.

Veterans gather for reunions, sharing camaraderie and stories, creating new bonds while reconnecting with old friends.

And let’s not forget the ongoing support the park provides to Veterans in need through food and clothing donations. It truly is a hub of goodwill.

High Ground Veterans Memorial Park isn’t just a pretty place;

it’s an emotional journey that honors the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women.

So if you ever find yourself in central Wisconsin, I wholeheartedly recommend taking a detour to High Ground Veterans Memorial Park.

Mall of America – Bloomington, Minnesota

Today, I found myself lost in delightful memories of the days before the fame—back when my adventures were just a splash in the pond. Let me take you back to the Spring of 2023, a time that changed everything! My humans and I were cruising the open road when we rolled through Minneapolis, Minnesota.

That’s when I saw it: a glowing sign announcing the MALL OF AMERICA!

I couldn’t contain my excitement!

I quacked, flapped my wings, and pointed toward the big “MALL” like it was a beacon calling my name.

Now, my humans aren’t exactly shopping enthusiasts. It took some serious convincing—and a few adorable waddles—to get them to pull into the parking lot.

But boy, oh boy, was it worth it!

As we waddled through the doors, I was met with a whirlwind of sights and sounds. This was no ordinary mall; it was an epic wonderland!

The Mall of America opened its doors in 1992 and became the largest shopping mall in the U.S. It is the biggest in the Western Hemisphere, and the twelfth largest in the entire world! With about 40 million visitors every year, it’s essentially a tourist hotspot in its own right.

Fun fact: did you know it has a sister mall in Canada, West Edmonton Mall, which is the second largest mall in North America?

These owners know how to go big!

With over 500 venues, each offering a unique experience, the Mall of America was truly my kind of place.

I have to start with the DUCKY ones!

Duck Donuts—though it’s no longer there (sad quacks)—

and the colourful Sugar Factory that still captures hearts and taste buds alike. This sweet spot is known for being the most Instagrammed restaurant in the U.S. How cool is that?

The culinary adventure didn’t stop there! Your taste buds might just want to fly—and boy, did my humans’ mouths water at the sight of all those amazing restaurants.

Cadillac Ranch takes you on a Route 66 road trip without leaving your seat.

And who could miss Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., filled with memorabilia from one of the most heartwarming movies ever?

And oh, Margaritaville! The name alone whisks me away to images of sun-soaked adventures.

Plus, noshing on a burger at Wahlburgers, alongside the cutouts of the famous Wahlberg brothers, is a fun photo op for sure!

For coffee lovers like my human, it was a must to swing by Caribou Coffee, followed by an irresistible Cinnabon. You better believe I “supervised” while they indulged!

Next, let’s talk candy!

M&M’s was pure paradise! I could’ve spent my entire day there. I contemplated the mysteries of chocolate and possibly even shared some yellow M&Ms with you!

But I couldn’t linger too long, as the call of adventure beckoned!

The amusement park within the mall was an absolute blast! The Fairly Odd Coaster had me quacking with joy. Meanwhile, the SpongeBob SquarePants Rock Bottom Plunge gave me thrilling views from above.

I also tried my wing at building with Legos.

However, crafting my own stuffed animal at Create A Bear gave me a take home prize.

It’s amazing how creative I can be!

And then, oh boy, the grand finale at Sea Life!

As I swam amongst vibrant fish, avoiding the jaws of grumpy sharks and snoopy piranhas, I felt right at home.

Watching giant manta rays gliding gracefully and jellyfish floating like paintings in the water was mesmerizing.

Plus, getting up close and personal with turtles? Talk about living the dream!

After this whirlwind of experiences, I realized our time at the Mall of America was just a sneak peek into its endless excitement.

So, if you ever find yourself in Minnesota, don’t miss the chance to check out the incredible Mall of America in Bloomington. Trust me, it’s an adventure you won’t want to miss! I can’t wait to share even more adventures with you!

But here’s the kicker: as I waddled and quacked my way through the mall, curious folks kept stopping to learn about my journey!

I went from sharing my adventure stories with my human family to inviting all of you along for the ride.

Indianapolis, Indiana

Quack, quack! Greetings from the lively streets of Indianapolis, Indiana! Bob the Rubber Duck here, and boy, do I have some fantastic tales from my recent adventures in this vibrant city! Although my humans and I couldn’t possibly explore every nook and cranny in a short two days, we made a delightful splash.

One of the absolute highlights was our visit to the magnificent Lucas Oil Stadium. Wowza!

This architectural marvel is home to the legendary Indianapolis Colts, and I couldn’t help but picture myself waddling along the sidelines, quacking for the team!

The stadium buzzed with an electric atmosphere, even though no games were scheduled during our visit.

Just imagining the crowds cheering and the excitement in the air was enough to send ripples of joy through my little rubber belly!

Next up, we strolled over to the Indiana War Memorial—what a sight!

This profound tribute is a stunning blend of history and reflection. It honours the brave souls who served in the armed forces. As we paused to pay our respects, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude for the sacrifices made in the name of freedom. It was a moving experience, and I recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

And oh, the Canal Walk! This gorgeous pathway felt like my own personal floating paradise!

The shimmering water glistened under the sun, and the views were simply breathtaking. I had a blast watching my feathered friends glide by. I wanted to jump in and join the fun! If you’re looking for a picturesque setting in Indy, this is the place to be.

After a delightful stroll, my humans and I stopped by Firehouse Subs for a quick lunch.

Let me tell you, those sandwiches were a quackin’ treat! Piled high with fresh ingredients, they provided the perfect fuel to power our next adventures. I particularly loved the bold flavours—if you find yourself in town, don’t skip this delicious stop!

Fuelled for excitement, we couldn’t resist the call of the legendary Indianapolis Speedway!

This colossal racetrack, famous for hosting the Indy 500, is a place where speed demons and racing legends come to life. We were not there on a race day, but I can almost hear the roar of engines and the cheers of enthusiastic fans. I imagine myself flying down the straightaway, splashing through puddles at top speed, and soaking up the cheers as I cross an imaginary finish line!

As our epic Indianapolis journey came to a close, we treated ourselves to a fantastic dinner at Bynum’s Steakhouse.

Oh my quack! The meals were absolute perfection, and each bite was a heavenly experience. The cozy, inviting atmosphere was just right to unwind after a whirlwind day of exploring.

All in all, Indianapolis exceeded my wildest expectations, blending urban excitement with a hint of historical allure.

Even as a humble rubber duck, I felt entirely at home amidst the dynamic atmosphere! If you ever find yourself paddling through this delightful city, be sure to explore every sight, savour every flavour, and soak in the incredible surroundings.
