    Many of my fellow Manitobans flock to this lovely city for back-to-school shopping, often sticking to the main retail area.

    But let me quack about how much more there is to discover beyond those familiar stores!

    On a recent trip, we ventured downtown! 

    Wow, Grand Forks folks really show the I CARE in their downtown.

    We stumbled upon Bad Man Designs, a treasure trove of unique creations!

    From unique statues to delightful gifts and beautiful jewelry, I found myself quite enamoured with the local artistry.

    We couldn’t resist bringing a few special items home; they have been great conversation starters!

    And let’s not forget about dining!

    We crossed the state line into Minnesota to indulge at the infamous Blue Moose.

    The food was as warm and inviting as the restaurant’s cozy atmosphere.

    I felt like part of something bigger watching families and friends gather for delicious meals, sharing stories and laughter.

    I could easily see how the Blue Moose has become a local icon.

    We attended an incredible concert at the Ralph Engelstad Arena, and let me tell you, it was the perfect intimate setting!

    The energy of the crowd was contagious, and the acoustics were so crisp that I felt like each note was played just for me.

    There’s something special about enjoying live music in a venue that feels so connected to the community.

    After all that excitement, we checked into the C’Mon Inn, and what a delightful spot it was!

    The soothing hot tub melted away all our stress, setting the scene for a peaceful night’s sleep.

    Floating there, I couldn’t help but reflect on how exploring Grand Forks was such a rewarding experience, one that went far beyond mere shopping.

    My advice: take a trip to Grand Forks not just for retail therapy, but for the rich experiences waiting to be uncovered!

    There’s an entire world of magic outside the shopping centers, and I, Bob the Rubber Duck, can assure you: you won’t be disappointed.

    Bob here to share an interesting discovery from just across the Canadian border in North Dakota: The Dumoulin Church Marker and Cemetery!

    My humans have driven past this historic site countless times. This time, I quacked for them to stop and take a look.

    And boy, am I glad they did!

    The Dumoulin Church Marker commemorates the first church built in the Northwestern US in the 1800s.

    The church was a beacon of hope and community for the early settlers who made this rugged land their home.

    Every Sunday, they trekked to gather in fellowship.

    It was named after Father Dumoulin, a noted priest who played a significant role in serving the local Catholic community.

    He offered spiritual guidance to those who ventured into the untamed wilderness.

    Over time, the church faced challenges, including a fire that led to its abandonment in the 1940s.

    What makes this marker special is not just its historical significance, but also the cemetery where many of the earliest pioneers now rest.

    Here lie the remains of those who forged lives in this vast landscape.

    They faced hardships and triumphs alike.

    It’s a peaceful place, filled with stories waiting to be told.

    The Dumoulin Church Marker and Cemetery stand as testaments to resilience and community spirit.

    It’s a beautiful reminder of the past, allowing us all to reflect on the sacrifices made by those before us.

    Bike Rally 2026 – Sturgis, South Dakota

    What a year it has been, and I am here to share all the thrilling details of my escapade at the legendary Sturgis Bike Rally in South Dakota for 2026!

    My human buddy decided on a whirlwind three-day trip with the Support Biker Crew, and let me tell you, it was a wild ride!

    Goldie, my trusty Goldwing companion, couldn’t make it this time, so my human took a bold jump onto the exciting new steed: Outlaw, a dazzling blue Harley Fat Boy.

    He kept Outlaw under wraps as a surprise for the crew.

    He couldn’t wait to see their faces when they realized that the Goldwing guy had gone rogue on a Harley!

    Sonny and Angie’s jaws dropped when they spotted that Manitoba license plate beneath Outlaw!

    They thought my human had pulled a fast one by switching plates! But alas, poor Goldie was left at home.

    After everyone had their giggles about the “switcheroo,” we dove right into the heart of the Sturgis Bike Rally.

    First up was the annual Support Bikers crew lunch at One Eyed Jacks, a biker bar that has been rocking for years.

    The place was buzzing with laughter and stories as everyone reconnected and got into the spirit of Bike Week.

    The food? Simply perfect and just what we needed to kick off this epic adventure!

    Once fueled up, we zipped over to the Buffalo Chip to rev up for the annual parade.

    Sonny and Angie Badger led the charge like the rock stars they are, and I was perched on Outlaw, soaking in all the thrilling vibes.

    The energy was contagious, and my little duck heart couldn’t have been happier!

    Engines roaring, flags flying, and the crowd cheering with excitement, we all made our way to the stage area of the Buffalo Chip!

    After a day of people-watching and general revelry, my human decided to call it a night.

    The next day we were off to tackle the amazing Sturgis area bike roads!

    Spearfish Canyon

    Riding Outlaw was a whole new ball game. Comfort? Maybe not so much. Fun? Absolutely! It was a quackers experience that I wouldn’t trade for the world!

    With a belly full of excitement, we waddled our way downtown Sturgis to mingle with the sea of fellow bikers who had come from near and far to share in the festivities.

    The streets were a riot of colours and sounds!

    Motorcycles everywhere, bustling restaurants bursting with energy, and shops filled to the brim with souvenirs.

    Perfect for a little duck like me to squawk about!

    You won’t believe it, but I even made a new “bad duck” riding buddy!

    We’ll be carving up the roads together, no doubt about it.

    Now, onto day three, we swam our way back to the Buffalo Chip for the Content Creators meetup.

    Creative humans buzzing with laughter, playing games, and raising glasses to celebrate their wild imaginations.

    It was the kind of energy that even a rubber duck like me could get behind!

    Everyone was soaking up the fun and camaraderie, and I felt right at home.

    After another action-packed day, my human and I decided to call it a night early. We needed our beauty rest for the long ride home the next day.

    With a few final tweaks to their Harleys, Sonny and Angie headed South back to Florida, grinning from ear to ear after another unforgettable Sturgis Bike Rally.

    As for us, we hopped onto Outlaw, pointed him north to Winnipeg, and let out a big quack of joy!

    Renewed bike fever, some aches from the adventure and great memories filled my rubber heart.

    Sturgis, thank you for the hospitality; see you next year!

    It’s me, Bob, your favourite biker rubber duck, and I’ve just taken a plunge into the exhilarating world of the 2026 Support Bikers Moto Meet-Up and Parade at the legendary Buffalo Chip in Sturgis, South Dakota!

    Let me tell you, the opening parade for this year’s Sturgis Bike Rally was nothing short of spectacular!

    Now, let’s talk about the Buffalo Chip, a true biker’s playground!

    Spanning a whopping 600 acres, it’s brimming with lively campgrounds, fantastic venues, and a vibe that’s just electric.

    I can’t get enough of floating around, soaking up the adrenaline and joy that radiates from every corner.

    It’s like being in a giant, happy bubble of biker camaraderie!

    At the Support Bikers Moto Meet-Up, I had an absolute blast mingling with fellow enthusiasts.

    We swapped stories, struck silly poses for selfies, and created memories that will last a lifetime!

    A special shoutout to the incredible soul who won the 50/50 raffle; his generosity in donating those winnings back to the Wrecked Rider Fund was heartwarming and truly embodies the spirit of our community.

    It’s moments like these that remind us of the bonds we share as bikers!

    When the parade kicked off, the excitement was contagious!

    Imagine an insane lineup of motorcycles revving their engines, each one more impressive than the last. The roar of the bikes was like music to my rubber ears!

    Then came the Wall of Sound bus, cranking tunes that were so powerful I thought even the local wildlife might start doing the cha-cha! You have to love a good beat!

    And then, hold onto your helmets for a spin-out demonstration that left the crowd gasping in awe! Watching those bikes cut loose was nothing short of thrilling.

    Unfortunately, my human had to dash off before the legendary David Lee Roth took the stage, but I made sure to soak up every last bit of those good vibes.

    Whether you’re a seasoned rider or just dipping your toes into the motorcycle scene, the 2026 Support Bikers Moto Meet-Up and parade is the ultimate way to kick off the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally!

    Just picture it: the incredible history, the vibrant energy, and the sense of family that fills the air.

    Hole N’ The Rock – Moab Utah

    Bob the Rubber Duck here to share with you the legendary Hole N’ The Rock roadside attraction in Moab, Utah!

    Big quacks of thanks to Debbie, our week 28 winner of the Get Your BOB on Contest, for introducing me to this remarkable site.

    Imagine riding along US Highway 191 in Southern Utah when you come across a colossal sandstone cliff, its face etched with the name “Hole N’ The Rock” in bold, striking letters.

    This one-of-a-kind home isn’t just any abode; it’s a stunning 5,000-square-foot masterpiece carved into the rock itself!

    Now, let me take you back in time, all the way to the 1940s. It was here that the incredible journey of Albert Christensen began.

    With tireless passion and relentless determination, Albert and his brother Leo hollowed out a modest cave, which would ultimately evolve into this expansive and quirky residence.

    Can you imagine it?

    Over 12 long years, Albert worked his magic, using hand-drilling and blasting techniques to excavate 50,000 cubic feet of sandstone.

    His hard work culminated in a wondrous 14-room home, complete with an impressive 65-foot chimney and even a bathtub carved right into the rock!

    By 1952, the Christensen family was all settled in, living in a one-of-a-kind sanctuary that embraced both history and ingenuity.

    But the adventure doesn’t end there!

    After Albert’s passing in 1957, his devoted wife Gladys took the reins, keeping the dream alive by welcoming visitors to explore their extraordinary home.

    With a spirit as vibrant as the Utah desert itself, she opened the doors to holiday travellers like us, offering guided tours rich in stories and charm.

    Now, let’s waddle on over to the delightful petting zoo!

    This haven boasts a collection of enchanted animals, where my fellow travellers can rub elbows with camels, bison, and playful goats, each with their own unique personalities.

    Debbie told me that she shared a moment with a miniature donkey named Harry and marvelled at the sight of exotic birds flitting about.

    It’s a charming slice of farm life right next to the rock, and I certainly wouldn’t mind a little feed time myself!

    Of course, every great attraction needs a shopping component, and Hole N’ The Rock has that covered with its marvellous gift shop and trading post.

    Here, you can snag quirky souvenirs, Native American crafts, and, my personal favourite, rubber duck-themed memorabilia (wink).

    With sculptures by artist Lyle Nichols dotting the landscape, it’s a treasure trove just waiting to be explored.

    From vintage neon signs to unique gifts, there’s something for everyone!

    As I researched this remarkable roadside attraction, I couldn’t help but imagine the spirit of Albert and Gladys dancing through the halls of their creation.

    Through hard work, endless creativity, and a touch of whimsy, they crafted not just a home, but a legacy that invites all who visit to relish in the beauty and oddity of life.

    Back in 1997, a fantastic duo, Jodi and Chris, decided to turn their dreams into reality by launching the Dog Bark Park Inn.

    After gaining fame on QVC with their exquisite carvings, they poured their earnings into building a retreat that’s a tail-wagging delight!

    With a knack for carving and a heart full of love for animals, this dynamic couple created a haven where pets and their humans can feel right at home.

    A truly unique bed-and-breakfast that’s perfect for both humans and their four-legged pals.

    Now, let me tell you, the Dog Bark Park Inn is a dog lover’s paradise!

    Just picture a vibrant dog park where pups can romp and play while their human friends relax in a serene setting.

    Sounds like a win-win, right?

    Joan reminisces about visiting a few years back with her furry companion, saying they were treated like royalty during their overnight stay!

    While the B&B might now be closed for sleepovers, the park remains a unique destination for all sorts of humans, dog enthusiasts included. 

    And don’t forget the gift shop!

    It’s not just your average store; it’s a free museum that opens its doors on occasion.

    Bob here, paddling along to share my latest splash-tastic discovery: the charming town of Fredericksburg, Texas!

    Now, Fredericksburg may not be Amy’s hometown, but it sure holds a special place in her heart.

    Founded back in 1846, this delightful town is awash with German heritage.

    The German culture permeates every nook and cranny.

    Bratwurst, schnitzel, and stunning architecture makes you feel like you’ve been magically transported to Europe without leaving Texas!

    The heartbeat of Fredericksburg is undoubtedly its vibrant Main Street.

    Picture a delightful stretch packed with unique shops and cozy boutiques, all devoid of franchises or chains in the National Historic District?!

    Explore handcrafted treasures, bask in the sweet scents wafting from bakeries, and, of course, sip on exquisite wines from the surrounding Hill Country vineyards.

    I mean, who could resist that?

    One of Amy’s favourite spots for a sip is Safari Winery.

    This place has family roots dating back to the mid-1800s, and they bring in fantastic wines from around the globe.

    But wait, there’s more!

    In a fun twist, they’ve recently added a kangaroo exhibit.

    Let your server know you want to see these hopping cuties, and prepare for a delightful show as they play and rest.

    What a surprising treat!

    Of course, you can’t help but think of food when you are sharing a glass of great wine.

    Amy’s top spot is Friedhelm’s Bavarian Inn, where you can get your fill of schnitzel and spaetzle or, of course, genuine Texas fare.

    On occasion, Amy books one of the themed rooms at the Inn when she and her husband go on a weekend retreat.

    What a romantic time they must have had, checking out the various themes and relaxing in the jacuzzi tub.

    Other times, when they go with a group, they choose vacation rentals.

    One in particular she raves about is the Austin Street Retreat.  For over 100 years, this retreat was a family dwelling, and the barn even served as a jailhouse for a while. 

    It’s transformed over the years into a luxurious rental that effortlessly blends history with modern comforts.

    Each suite is a cozy little nook wrapped in nostalgia, connected by enchanting courtyards that whisper tales of yesteryears!

    Fredericksburg is snuggled right in the heart of the breathtaking Texas Hill Country.

    Whether you’re hiking up scenic trails or enjoying a casual stroll through picturesque parks, there’s nature magic just waiting for you to soak it all in.

    Cultural fans will find plenty to love, too!

    From art galleries featuring local artists to historical sites that tell the story of this wonderful town, Fredericksburg is a treasure trove of experiences waiting to be discovered.

    Bob here, and I’m bubbling with excitement to share the extraordinary escapade of our BOBBER Gregory, the star of Week 17 in the Get Your Bob On contest!

    Gregory’s journey takes him deep into the magical Neversink Cave in Alabama, a true natural treasure that invites explorers to unveil its secretive depths and mesmerizing formations.

    Picture this: you waddle through a lush, vibrant entrance that looks like it belongs in a fairy tale.

    The surrounding greenery is lush creating the perfect oasis for forest bathing!

    As you splash your way inside, your eyes widen at the sight of shimmering stalactites and stalagmites reaching for the roof and floor like nature’s own version of a ballet performance.

    Just think of all the fabulous selfies you could take with those dazzling formations!

    But wait, there’s more!

    This cave isn’t just eye candy, it’s an adventure playground!

    With over 2,000 feet of winding passages, I promise you’ll be hopping with excitement as you discover breathtaking underground waterfalls that dance and sparkle with every drop.

    Gregory’s first visit to Neversink Cave filled his heart with wonder as he beheld the enchanting entrance surrounded by vibrant greenery.

    But there was a flicker of yearning in his eyes. The cave’s depths felt like an elusive mystery, daring him to explore, but he lacked the skills to take the plunge.

    He stood there, gazing at the magnificent opening adorned with stalactites that hung like nature’s own sparkling chandeliers, yearning for adventure.

    With the fire of determination lighting up his spirit, Gregory decided it was time to take the plunge, not physically at first, but by gearing up for the ultimate adventure!

    He rallied some friends who shared his passion for exploration, and together, they dove headfirst into an exciting training quest!

    They honed their cave exploring skills in preparation to conquer the Neversink Cave!

    When Gregory returned to Neversink Cave two years later, his excitement bounced off the walls!

    With a heart filled with anticipation and excitement bubbling in his feathers, he made his way back to that stunning entrance.

    As he descended into the cave, he stepped into a realm that felt truly otherworldly.

    The cave walls glimmered as water cascaded down, creating a soothing symphony of sounds that made him feel like he was in nature’s very own concert!

    Gregory described his experience as a monumental transformation, a journey that unfolded not just within the cave but within himself!

    He was ecstatic to finally discover the awe-inspiring formations, the intriguing beauty surrounding him, and the exhilarating sense of victory that comes with overcoming an obstacle.

    It was a day filled with friends and laughter echoing through the caverns, a perfect adventure indeed!

    And let’s not forget about that breathtaking opening!

    Gregory can assure you it’s a vision well worth the journey.

    He is incredibly thankful he leapt at the chance to embrace the full experience but he realizes that the training is not for everyone.

    I imagine that as he emerged from the cave, his face lit up with a triumphant smile!

    Gregory hadn’t just navigated the cave; he had overcome the obstacle, gaining new skills and passions on the journey.

    Grotto of Redemption – West Bend, Iowa

    Congratulations to Cory, the week 15 winner of the GET YOUR BOB on Contest, for his submission of The Grotto of Redemption in West Bend, Iowa. 

    This isn’t just your average tourist spot; it’s a celebration of art, faith, and relentless dedication carved beautifully in stone!

    Cory has visited the Grotto many times over the years.

    He says that each time he returns, he discovers something he missed on previous visits.

    Let’s dive into the heartwarming tale of how this impressive shrine came to life.

    The Grotto of Redemption is considered the lifetime achievement of Father Paul Dobberstein.

    Father Dobberstein, a determined German immigrant and priest, made a promise to the Virgin Mary.

    If she blessed him with recovery from a serious illness, he would construct a shrine to honour her.

    Father Dobberstein recovered!

    And in 1912, he set out on a 42-year quest to gather rocks and stones to fulfill his vow.

    The Grotto of Redemption is a sprawling complex featuring nine breathtaking grottoes. Each portrays pivotal scenes from the life of Jesus Christ.

    As the world’s largest man-made grotto, this enchanting site is often affectionately dubbed the “eighth wonder of the world.”

    But The Grotto of Redemption isn’t just about its impressive dimensions.

    Stunning mosaics made from an extraordinary collection of minerals, fossils, and gemstones bring a unique element to the construction.

    Acclaimed for a value exceeding $4.3 million, these vibrant materials tell stories of hope and faith. In addition, they create a mosaic that sparkles in the sunlight and draws in over 100,000 visitors annually.

    The story behind the Grotto is as inspiring as the intricate scenes it displays.

    Father Dobberstein began using a wealth of minerals and precious and semi-precious stones to weave an unbreakable narrative of humanity’s fall and Christ’s redemption.

    Picture a spectacular display crafted from petrified wood, malachite, agate, and a whole host of other dazzling stones perfectly placed in concrete.

    Alongside Father Dobberstein was his invaluable right-hand man, Matt Szerensce. He became his devoted collaborator in this ambitious undertaking.

    Their combined knowledge and tireless labour transformed the Grotto into an iconic masterpiece. It covers an area about the size of an entire city block.

    Can you imagine the dedication it took? These two poured their hearts and souls into this divine creation!

    The Grotto of Redemption continues to inspire countless souls.

    Its beauty and the faith behind it provide a backdrop for reflection for those who explore its attributes.

    Cory says that the on-site museum is filled with rare gems from around the globe and stories of the Grotto and its creation.

    Tread carefully through the rough-hewn tunnels and listen closely as guides share stories of the miners’ grit and determination.

    And don’t forget to snap a pic in your hard hat, because nothing screams “adventurous explorer” like a rubber duck in a helmet!

    After mining for excitement, it’s time to get your shopping hat on!

    Meander through the delightful boutiques, especially the Goldfield General Store.

    It’s a treasure-filled haven!

    From unique souvenirs to stylish Western wear and beautiful hand-crafted jewelry, there’s something for everyone!

    Feeling hungry? Mosey on over to the Old West Saloon for a hearty meal of classic American fare, from juicy burgers to spicy chili.

    Enjoy some live Western music that’ll have you tapping your boots and singing along.

    As you continue your stroll, you’ll stumble upon the legendary Goldfield Bottle House, a quirky structure made entirely of bottles!

    It’s a perfect backdrop for photos, and think of the wild stories those bottles could tell if they could talk!

    Before you wrap up this grand adventure, catch a thrilling showdown at the Goldfield Gunfight Arena!

    Grab your seat in the bleachers and hold onto your hats as the Cowboys duel it out! It’s an action-packed spectacle that’ll leave your little ducky heart racing!

    Goldfield Ghost Town isn’t just a destination; it’s a plunge into a rich history of legends, laughter, and local culture.

    There is so much more than I mentioned here!

    Plan a full day for zip lining, train rides, panning for gold, and horseback riding in addition to the highlighted explorations.

    Bob here, ready to paddle through my exciting March drive along the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway!

    Our visit caught the canyon waking up from winter.

    The landscape was a collage of lush greens, rocky outcrops, and the remnants of last season’s snow.

    Absolutely breathtaking!

    But the highlight of this trip?  Spotting a herd of mountain goats!

    There they were, perched majestically on the rocky ledges, showcasing their phenomenal climbing skills.

    These agile creatures are known for their impressive hooves that help them navigate this rugged terrain.

    With their shaggy white fur, they looked right at home among the crags and cliffs.

    Did you know mountain goats are not actually true goats?  They belong to the antelope family!

    Their thick fur keeps them warm during the chilly months, and those sharp hooves have evolved specifically for cliff-hanging antics.

    Watching them effortlessly bound across rocks was nothing short of mesmerizing!

    BUT…I learned a hard lesson!

    As harmless as these white beasts look, they are wild animals.

    Keep your distance, and do not assume they will be tame if you offer them a snack!

    As we continued our drive, we marvelled at the beauty surrounding us: towering ponderosa pines, vibrant rock formations, and waterfalls cascading down the cliffs.

    It is a perfect mix of nature’s artwork!  March may have been a bit chilly, but the sights made it all worth it.

    The Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway is truly a must-visit for anyone wanting to soak in the natural splendour of South Dakota.

    Whether you’re eyeing mountain goats or just taking in the sweeping views, this picturesque drive won’t disappoint.

    We can hardly wait to visit again during the 86th Sturgis Bike Rally in August.

    Each face has a story to tell, and you can practically feel the weight of history in the air!

    Just think, even the eyes are a whopping 11 feet wide!

    It’s a testament to dreams, teamwork, and sheer willpower!

    The scenery surrounding Mount Rushmore is a breathtaking vista of natural beauty!

    The Black Hills are a playground of lush forests and stunning views that’ll leave you in awe.

    Whether you’re a history buff, a nature lover, or just someone keen to experience the great outdoors, Mount Rushmore is an absolute must-see!

    We were all fueled with excitement for the upcoming Sturgis Motorcycle Rally this summer, reminiscing about the electrifying atmosphere from last year!

    Upon our arrival, the ground was clear of snow, but there were also no signs of the impending bike festivities.

    It was as if we had stumbled into a tranquil bubble.

    Sturgis was quiet, with no bustling crowds or eager bikers revving their engines.

    Just a peaceful community savouring a rare moment of stillness.

    Then the weather changed.

    Snow began to dance gently from the sky, transforming the streets into a sparkling winter wonderland.

    Visibility dwindled, but still, there were no lines or roaring motorcycles to be found.

    It was a stark contrast to the frenetic energy of the bike rally: a serene day in March compared to the chaos of July!

    I couldn’t help but ponder the love-hate relationship the townsfolk must have with their seasonal rhythm.

    During the summer, Sturgis bursts to life with vibrant crowds, laughter, and the roar of motorcycle engines.

    But in this quiet time, they get to recharge and prepare for the spectacle to come, the Sturgis Bike Fest.

    It’s a beautiful dance of anticipation and rest, a season of planning nestled between bustling summers.

    So here’s to Sturgis!

    I can hardly wait to bask in the sun with my fellow bikers come summer, without a snowplow in sight.

    Gold and Silver Pawn Shop – Las Vegas, Nevada

    What’s a trip to Las Vegas without a splash at the legendary Gold and Silver Pawn Shop, home of the hit show Pawn Stars?

    When we arrived, the shop looked pretty ordinary at first glance, but the throngs of eager visitors told a different story!

    There were folks directing traffic as if it were the hottest club in town.

    We finally snagged a parking spot and waddled inside, where the air buzzed with excitement and the shelves overflowed with treasures just waiting to be discovered!

    I pondered how this quirky little pawn shop shot to stardom, drawing in over 3,000 visitors every single day!

    It all started back in 1980 when retired Navy sailor Richard B. Harrison, affectionately known as The Old Man, packed up his family and moved from sunny San Diego to sizzling Las Vegas.

    He opened a humble coin shop, but his son, Rick, had big dreams of creating a pawn shop that would thrive amid the city’s whirlwind of activity.

    At the time, Las Vegas had a pause on issuing new pawn licenses, pending the population reaching 250,000. Most would have given up, but not Rick!

    He bided his time like a duckling waiting for the right moment to leap into the water.

    In 1988, the population finally hit that magical number, and Rick raced to City Hall, emerging with one of the first pawn licenses issued in years.

    Now, how did a humble pawn shop become a star on national television, you might wonder?

    With a treasure trove of antiques, quirky collectibles, and priceless artifacts, the shop turned into a local legend.

    Visitors could find everything from exquisite artwork to ancient weapons!

    Rick saw a golden opportunity to share their delightful stories with the world through reality TV!

    He pitched the idea to various networks, pouring his heart into showcasing their blend of history, art, and delightful negotiations.

    After several attempts, the History Channel bit! Lights, cameras, action! The shop came alive with personalities galore!

    There’s Rick, the entrepreneurial whiz, The Old Man with his sage wisdom (sadly passed away in 2018), Corey, the son with snappy one-liners, and don’t forget Chumlee, the lovable goofball whose antics kept everyone in stitches.

    Together, they turned the pawn shop into a phenomenon that drew fans from all over to witness the nexus of history and hilarity!

    During my Saturday visit, even though I spotted their mugs on t-shirts and posters, I didn’t get a chance to meet any of the stars.

    But oh, the vibes!

    This quirky establishment was pulsating with life;

    every artifact had a story to tell,

    every bit of banter was infectious,

    and it felt like stepping into a living museum

    honouring both the past and the present.

    The Gold and Silver Pawn Shop is a must for anyone visiting Las Vegas.

    Whether you’re a curious traveller wanting to catch a glimpse of a Pawn Star,

    or a collector on the hunt for that one-of-a-kind treasure,

    you’ll bob away with your heart brimming with tales and maybe even a delightful little treasure of your own!

    Bob here, waddling my way through the fascinating town of Oatman, Arizona!

    Nestled along the iconic Route 66, this charming little ghost town has a colourful history as vibrant as the landscapes surrounding it.

    Perfect for a quick detour on our road trip to Las Vegas from Apache Junction!

    Oatman was founded back in the early 1900s during the gold rush. In 1901, prospector George D. Wyeth found gold in the nearby hills, sparking a mining boom that drew a wave of hopeful miners and adventurers.

    The town flourished, reaching its peak around 1915 when it boasted over 3,500 residents!

    Can you imagine the hustle and bustle?

    Today, remnants of that rich history mix seamlessly with quirky shops and a lively spirit.

    As you stroll down the main street, you’ll find a treasure trove of quirky venues and shops that celebrate Oatman’s quirky character.

    The Oatman Hotel, built in 1902, is a must-see. It’s said to be haunted by the ghost of a former miner, which adds an air of intrigue!

    Plus, visitors can enjoy a cold drink on the patio while soaking in the fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. I might take a seat on the railing, after all, I’m a duck who knows how to relax!

    Don’t miss the charming shops housing unique souvenirs, artisan crafts, and local artwork.

    The Wild West feel remains alive, with locals often donning period costumes that transport you back to the town’s heyday.

    If you’re lucky, you might catch a live cowboy show or some lively music, complete with toe-tapping fiddle tunes!

    Speaking of music, be sure to check out the local saloon, where you can enjoy a taste of old-time Western hospitality along with cold refreshments.

    It’s a fantastic spot to mingle with other travellers and hear the stories of those who’ve come to this historic landmark.

    Perhaps the most delightful aspect of my visit was encountering the famous Oatman burros, yes, those adorable donkeys!

    They’re quite the celebrities here!

    Descendants of the pack animals used by gold miners, these gentle creatures roam freely through the town, adding a touch of charm and liveliness.

    Visitors love feeding them carrots and snapping plenty of photos, and who could resist?

    I mean, who wouldn’t want to take a picture with a friendly donkey?

    We actually thought we had missed them, but just as we were heading out of town, there they were, surrounding us for our apples!

    As I bob around, soaking up the atmosphere of Oatman, I can’t help but feel the sense of community and the spirit of adventure that brought people here over a century ago.

    We only had time for a quick drive through this time.

    We will return one day to fully experience the history, the burros, and the overall Americana that Oatman has to offer.

    From artifacts and weapons to saddles and carriages, each is a snapshot of the rugged souls who braved the untamed frontier.

    And let’s not forget the life-sized models and dioramas!

    The spirit of Tombstone pulses through every inch of the museum.

    A historic silver-mining hub that attracted a stampede of prospectors and adventurers.

    I can almost hear the jubilant shouts of miners and the clink of silver coins.

    All paint a vibrant picture of the brave souls who dared to dream of a better life.

    Over 700,000 thrill-seekers from all over the globe flock to the OK Corral Museum annually!

    Visitors are eager to step back in time to feel the boldness and bravery of the Wild West.

    This highway has a unique charm that draws around 300,000 visitors annually.

    Many travel here, not just for the thrill, but to experience the breathtaking desert vistas and the rich history of Oatman itself.

    Originally a mining road, the Sidewinder Highway was built to connect the gold mines that flourished in the area in the 1900s.

    Gold was discovered in Oatman in 1902.

    The town quickly grew transforming into a bustling community with hotels, saloons, and shops.

    As the gold rush faded and mining dwindled, the town struggled but was never completely abandoned.

    Today, Oatman is unique, a ghost town with a thriving tourist trade.

    The town is most famous for its wild burros!

    These fun friends are descendants of those once used by miners who roam freely and have become a charming part of Oatman’s identity.

    Bob here, tucked snugly on the dash of my human’s car, feeling the thrill of adventure as we cruise from Apache Junction to Las Vegas. 

    As we zoom along Highway 93, something remarkable happens!

    Our surroundings transform from the typical arid desert into a mesmerizing forest of Joshua trees!

    It felt as if we’d stumbled into a fantasy world, far from the usual landscapes.

    Little did I know that these magnificent trees could thrive right here in Arizona, away from their well-known home in California’s Mojave Desert.

    Standing boldly against a cloudless blue sky, the Joshua trees showcase their tall, spiky silhouettes, creating an eerie yet captivating atmosphere that would fit right into a quirky movie.

    Each tree boasts its own unique shape, twisting and turning in dramatic poses as if vying for my attention.

    Can you imagine the creative visions they inspire? 

    But these trees are not just beautiful; they carry significant cultural history. 

    The Cahuilla people, a Native American community native to this region, have used Joshua trees for food and crafts for generations.

    The name “Joshua tree” itself was given by Mormon settlers who thought the branches resembled Joshua from the Bible, leading them onward with their commanding presence.

    The Joshua Tree is powerful symbol of perseverance and the stunning beauty found amid the harsh desert.

    Interestingly, these unique plants are not really trees at all but rather large, resilient succulents in the yucca family.

    Thriving in the arid conditions of northwestern Arizona at around 4,000 feet elevation, these remarkable plants survive in this special microclimate.

    They appear to flourish among volcanic rock and distant mountain ranges that form a surreal backdrop.

    Joshua Trees grow slowly typically at just half an inch to three inches in height each year after their original growth spurt.

    Their seeds often require the protective embrace of neighbouring shrubs to germinate under such challenging conditions.

    Even at this slow pace of growth, they can reach impressive heights of over 40 feet!

    Some live for more than a century and a half, making them true sentinels of the desert!

    Their long, sharp leaves conserve precious water, marking them as true survivors.

    In spring, the Joshua Tree displays clusters of white flowers that attract friendly pollinators like the yucca moth!

    Being surrounded by these iconic trees, I appreciate their vital role in this delicate desert ecosystem.

    It’s astonishing to consider how each Joshua tree contributes to the rich biodiversity around it.

    Birds, insects, and even the occasional curious rubber duck like me depend on Joshua Trees!

    In that moment of wandering off the beaten path, I realized how wonderful it is to uncover unexpected treasures.

    Who wouldn’t want to embark on an adventure to explore this enchanting Joshua Tree Forest in Arizona?

    I’ve decided to take you on a delightful dive into the history of the Golden Nugget Casino, right in the heart of Las Vegas.

    We were in Vegas as a stopover on our return from Arizona. So we decided to stay an extra day and explore.

    While I may not have hands to spin the slots, I’ve seen enough to appreciate the splendour of this iconic establishment!

    The Golden Nugget staff were eager to park my human’s vehicle, so we could spend our time exploring.

    We felt like royalty in their care.

    As we waddled into the lobby, it was like sinking into a warm bubble bath of luxury!

    The sights and sounds of the casino were downright dazzling.

    With the shimmering lights and the sounds of laughter and excitement, I knew we were in for a real treat!

    Let’s rewind to 1900s, shall we?

    Back then, Las Vegas was starting to shake off its sleepy desert vibe.

    It was transforming into the glittering playground we know today.

    The Golden Nugget began as a humble bar with a few gaming tables; like a tiny pond that ultimately grew into a grand lake of entertainment!

    Who would’ve imagined it would become such an iconic treasure chest in this city of dreams?

    By the groovy 1970s, the Golden Nugget reigned as the largest casino in downtown Vegas, sparkling like a diamond with neon lights that twinkled in the night!

    It was the place to be for thrill-seekers and adventurers. Visitors were lured in by the call of gaming, fine dining, and sensational shows.

    As I floated around, I was mesmerized by how the casino’s success mirrored the rise of Las Vegas itself.

    One of the most thrilling moments in the Golden Nugget’s history came in 1973, when it introduced one of the first-ever “high roller” rooms, catering to the elite gamblers.

    The casino became known for its lavish amenities. One of my favourite spots is the spectacular pool area, complete with a massive shark tank!

    As I bobbed along in my imaginary pool, I couldn’t help but feel the excitement generated by the guests who splashed around in this aquatic oasis.

    But wait, there’s more!

    The Golden Nugget has dazzled countless celebrity visitors over the years: from the legendary Frank Sinatra to the King himself, Elvis Presley!

    Can you picture it?

    All that vibrant energy and excitement!

    It must have been a fantastic blend of bright lights and joyous tunes. The sounds bouncing off the walls like bubbles in a bath!

    Fast forward to the present, and the Golden Nugget has undergone numerous renovations.

    It stands as a symbol of resilience and adaptation.

    The casino proudly represents the golden age of Las Vegas while embracing the modern era.

    The casino is constantly evolving!

    As I waddle my way through the town, the first thing that grabs my attention is the jaw-dropping sight of the Superstition Mountains!

    They are stunning in all their jagged glory, surrounded by vibrant desert flora.

    Oh, what an incredible backdrop for a little rubber duck like me!

    One must-see stop is the iconic Tortilla Flat Post Office, which has been delivering mail since 1904!

    This lively spot still hums with activity, making it the perfect place to send a postcard to my friends back home.

    And, oh boy, you can’t miss the infamous jail!

    It’s a real piece of history, where stories of rowdy outlaws and heroic lawmen linger in the air like the scent of fresh tortillas.

    My human friends found themselves behind bars!

    Don’t worry, with a bit of chirpy quacking, I managed to negotiate their release so our adventure could continue!

    Now, onto the Superstition Saloon serving up a feast fit for a duck!

    Their famous prickly pear lemonade is a must-try.

    And the hearty dishes will keep visitors fueled for all sorts of escapades.

    The rustic decor, with cowboy memorabilia decorating the walls, makes every meal an adventure.

    You must make a pit stop in their bathrooms for some hilarious bathroom humour!

    Nearby, the Dutchman Inn buzzes with excitement, filled with lively humans tapping to the rhythm of live music echoing through the valley.

    If we weren’t on the go, I would have joined in on that toe-tapping fun!

    Don’t forget to pop by the Mercantile and the Country Store!

    A treasure trove of unique souvenirs and local crafts that capture the essence of the Old West.

    I almost got stuck on a shelf! Oops!

    I made my escape just in time, dodging a shopper who was eyeing me for their collection.

    And what’s this? I found myself posing in some rather, shall we say, unconventional picture frames!

    Who knew folks would line up to snap a photo in a toilet seat?

    Humans truly are endlessly entertaining!

    As I waddle down the dusty streets, I can feel the historical significance of Tortilla Flat weaving through the air.

    Every corner is bursting with tales, from trailblazing miners to brave pioneers who carved out lives in this stark yet beautiful landscape.

    I can only imagine what joys and challenges they faced without the luxuries we enjoy today.

    The true spirit of community shines brightly here, wrapped in the warmth of the locals, making my delightful journey all the more meaningful.

    As it makes its way westward, it navigates through rugged canyons and lush habitats, creating a scenic oasis in the heart of the desert.

    Did you know that the river stretches approximately 200 miles? 

    The Salt River has been a vital resource for centuries.

    The Hohokam people, who lived in the region over a thousand years ago, harnessed its waters for irrigation, cultivating crops in an otherwise dry and challenging landscape.

    They constructed an extensive network of canals that allowed them to flourish, leaving behind a legacy of ingenuity that still fascinates historians today.

    Fast forward to the late 19th century, and the Salt River played a significant role in the growth of settlements like Phoenix.

    The river’s waters were crucial for agriculture, fostering the development of the valley.  As people flocked to the region, they brought along their dreams and aspirations, turning the desert into a bustling oasis.

    Now that’s what I call a transformation!

    As I float downstream, the sights are simply breathtaking.

    Towering cliffs, vibrant vegetation, and even splashes of colourful wildflowers line the riverbanks.

    Danny was not on site the day I waddled in, so I took the seat of honour and felt the power, if only for a few minutes!

    Speaking of the crew, let’s not forget about the one-and-only Horny Mike!

    This fun-loving fella is known for his outrageous personality and incredible talent for crafting one-of-a-kind, over-the-top creations.

    Every time he swings by, you know it’s going to be a wild ride!

    Together with the rest of the gang at Count’s Kustoms, they bring innovation and artistry to every vehicle they touch, transforming them into rolling masterpieces.

    The museum itself is a car lover’s paradise!

    With an impressive collection of classic cars and unique vehicles on display, there’s something for everyone to admire.

    From sleek muscle cars that rev up your excitement to stunning vintage rides that evoke nostalgia, each vehicle tells a unique story.

    It’s like stepping into a time capsule, but instead of sand and cobwebs, it’s all about gleaming paint and polished chrome!

    This talented team brings old clunkers back to life, and it’s like witnessing magic unfold before your very eyes.

    Speaking of performers, if you love entertainment, this is a goldmine!

    As you float along the sidewalk, you can’t help but notice the dynamic buskers showcasing their incredible talents.

    Lively musicians strumming guitars, jugglers tossing flaming torches, and some humans dancing like nobody’s watching!

    One fellow in a shiny silver suit caught my eye, mixing magic with a sprinkle of comedy.

    I quacked with joy as I watched him pull off some mind-boggling tricks!

    Now, let’s talk about the ziplining!

    Soaring high above the bustling crowd, tethered by a friendly harness, the view is breathtaking.

    My rubber duck heart races as I zip through the sky, feeling as if I am the star of the show!

    Fremont Street is a pedestrian paradise: an inviting space where humans gather to share in the mystery of Vegas.

    But a word to the wise: while it’s an absolute feast for the senses, it pays to be cautious.

    Many artists and performers welcome tips for their crafts.

    While posing for a quick photo with a dressed-up character is tempting, do keep an eye out!

    Those charming smiles may come with a price tag!

    Sometimes, it’s easy to get swept up in the moment and find that an innocent snapshot can turn into an unexpected financial splash!

    After basking in the lively atmosphere, I take a moment to explore the original casinos and restaurants.

    The retro charm of places like the 4 Queens and the Circa, where the slot machines seem to whisper tales of jackpot dreams!

    And what about the restaurants like the legendary White Castle and Heart Attack Grill which offers free food for those heavier humans…only in Vegas!

    The Apache Trail, built in the 1920s, was a game changer, opening the wilderness to travellers hungry for breathtaking views and unforgettable adventures.

    Daring pioneers and explorers discovered this rugged gem.

    They helped transform this wild terrain into a hot spot for thrill-seekers and tranquillity-lovers alike!

    As I relaxed at the overlook, the stunning Canyon Lake sparkled like a jewel!

    Canyon Lake Dam was constructed in 1925.

    Today, it’s a haven for outdoor enthusiasts!

    Just imagine your humans casting their lines, hoping to snag the catch of the day. Fish on!

    But wait, there’s more! One of the best parts of Canyon Lake Vista is its accessibility.

    It’s the perfect pit stop for cyclists, families, and thrill-seeking adventurers to pause and soak in the natural beauty.

    The mix of vibrant blue waters, rugged mountains, and the brilliant desert sky is simply picture-perfect!

    Be careful, though, if Grace is around, she may try to launch you over the railing!

    Nowadays, Canyon Lake Vista stands as a treasure trove of natural splendour and rich history, welcoming nearly a million visitors each year to experience its magic.

    It’s an ideal spot for snapping photos, enjoying a picnic, or simply soaking up the warm Arizona sun with your favourite humans.

    Bob here to share a tale from the Wild West that’s as intriguing as a splash in the bath!

    There I was bobbing around in Tombstone, Arizona, where history and adventure flow like water over a duck’s back.

    I saw a sign that said “The Cribs of Tombstone,” my little rubber heart tiptoed with excitement.

    I imagined a cozy nursery filled with adorable babies nestled in their cribs after a long day of play.

    But oh boy, was I in for a surprise when I waddled inside!

    Instead of a nursery, I discovered a fascinating slice of Old West life that was anything but ordinary.

    Lesson learned, I should have read the whole sign!?!?!

    During the silver rush of the early 1880s, Tombstone was bustling with miners, gamblers, and all sorts of characters.

    The tiny town, perched in the high desert, became a haven for adventurous souls seeking fortune and indulging in a bit of vice along the way.

    And what was one of its most lucrative vices? You guessed it: the lively brothels!

    The town was exploding with silver wealth and filled with a predominantly male population seeking entertainment.

    The ladies of the night played a vital role in this unique ecosystem.

    While some might think these establishments were just dark corners of vice, they were much more than that!

    They had structure, generated tax revenue, and even had connections with local law enforcement.

    Yes, these women were working hard, often under challenging circumstances.

    The Bordello District was something like a carnival of choices.

    At the top tier, you had the elegant parlour houses where ladies served drinks, music, and conversation alongside their services!

    Then, there were the saloon-brothels, where everything happened under one roof, mingling drinks, cards, and some good ol’ fashioned fun.

    But lurking at the lower rung were the cribs.

    These cramped little spaces were the most precarious, where women had little protection and faced significant risks.

    Many of these women, often referred to by the bittersweet term “soiled doves,” had compelling stories.

    Some were young widows trying to support themselves, while others were lured into the trade with promises of better jobs.

    A few, brave and bold, chose this life as the quickest route to financial security amid the town’s relentless hustle.

    Just like my adventures floating about, their motivations ran deep and varied!

    As Tombstone matured, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Citizens grappled with morality versus money.

    Civic leaders sought to clean up the town’s image to attract respectable investments

    Others recognized the undeniable economic pull of the red-light district.

    Some say that morality took over and the vice in Tombstone was eradicated.

    Others say that when the silver dried up in the mines, the customers left town for their next adventure.

    The tales of Tombstone’s cribs and the enterprising women who made their mark in history are a colourful story of survival, challenges, and a dash of Wild West intrigue. 

    Today Tombstone is a very respectable town which visitors flock to from all over the world.

    There are so many interesting attractions, this duck will be returning to spend more time and soak in all the history and unique enterprise of the area.
