Bob here, relaxing at Leisure Lake Family Campground in Sumner, Michigan.
I stopped by during the off-season while my friends Ken and Raedene were preparing for opening day on May 1.
Though they had plenty to do, they took time to show us their wonderful campground, tucked beside a 35-acre fishing lake.
Ken and Raedene took the reins in 2013, and they’ve been making waves ever since.
The campground has grown from 140 sites to at least 219, with thoughtful upgrades along the way to make every stay even better.
It’s an ideal spot for families to make a splash and create lasting memories.
Even in the preseason, I could almost hear the sounds of summer: kids playing on the sandy beaches, families enjoying time together, and campers finding plenty to do.
It’s easy to see why Leisure Lake feels so welcoming.

At the heart of camp is a beautiful log cabin with a well-stocked store.
You’ll find things you forgot to pack, items you didn’t know you needed, and special souvenirs to remember your stay.
Tucked into one corner is Mama Rae’s Café, where you can grab a tasty bite and enjoy a little extra pampering.
It’s the kind of place where campers gather, swap stories, and soon feel like family.
The hard work and dedication of Ken and Raedene along with their family has brought seasonal campers back year after year.

I asked what keeps people coming back, and the answer was clear: it’s the care the family brings to the park and its facilities.
Family members are always on-site, ready to help with anything from the occasional issue to flipping pancakes for breakfast, and they do it all with fantastic attitudes.
They’ve turned camping into a full-season family gathering.
