    Today, I’m diving into the interesting town of Vulcan, Alberta, in the heart of Canada.

    Thanks to BOBBER Oliver, who entered Week 19 of the GET YOUR BOB ON Contest, I’m here to share a few details of this sci-fi paradise!

    Vulcan is a small but vibrant town with just under 2,000 residents, perched on the western edge of the Canadian Badlands.

    It may not be a space station, but with its charming atmosphere and stunning surroundings of wheat, canola, and barley fields, Vulcan is out of this world!

    Only about 1.5 hours away from Calgary, this little town has grabbed the attention of Trekkies and travellers alike.

    The adventure begins at the Vulcan Visitor Center, aptly named the “Trek Station.”

    This center is designed to get you in the mood for everything Star Trek.

    Shaped like a space station, it houses tons of Star Trek memorabilia and souvenirs.

    I can imagine the excitement of a Trekkie walking inside!

    As you enter Vulcan, you won’t want to miss the 31-foot replica of the Starship Enterprise.

    It’s a stunning sight that everyone stops to marvel at.

    Your trip wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Vulcan Museum, where history and the future converge.

    But Oliver’s favourite BOBortunity in Vulcan is the celebration dubbed VULCON!

    This annual event is a weekend extravaganza filled with all things Star Trek, taking place from July 24-26, 2026.

    This year is particularly special because it marks the 60th anniversary of Star Trek and the 32nd anniversary of Vulcon! Talk about cosmic timing!

    Held in the heart of Vulcan, Vulcon gathers fans from across the galaxy to celebrate the iconic franchise.

    With a colourful blend of humanoids, Ferengi, Klingons, and Vulcans swarming the town in their finest cosplay!

    Whether you’re an avid collector or just a curious explorer, there’s something for everyone.

    The fun kicks off with a meet-and-greet on Friday night, featuring an impressive lineup of Star Trek celebrities.

    And who wouldn’t want to join in on the t-shirt contests or the epic cosplay parade?

    With silent auctions and dance parties, and an atmosphere that’s simply out of this world, Vulcon is the perfect place to get your sci-fi fix.

    Gregory’s journey takes him deep into the magical Neversink Cave in Alabama, a true natural treasure that invites explorers to unveil its secretive depths and mesmerizing formations.

    Picture this: you waddle through a lush, vibrant entrance that looks like it belongs in a fairy tale.

    The surrounding greenery is lush creating the perfect oasis for forest bathing!

    As you splash your way inside, your eyes widen at the sight of shimmering stalactites and stalagmites reaching for the roof and floor like nature’s own version of a ballet performance.

    Just think of all the fabulous selfies you could take with those dazzling formations!

    But wait, there’s more!

    This cave isn’t just eye candy, it’s an adventure playground!

    With over 2,000 feet of winding passages, I promise you’ll be hopping with excitement as you discover breathtaking underground waterfalls that dance and sparkle with every drop.

    Gregory’s first visit to Neversink Cave filled his heart with wonder as he beheld the enchanting entrance surrounded by vibrant greenery.

    But there was a flicker of yearning in his eyes. The cave’s depths felt like an elusive mystery, daring him to explore, but he lacked the skills to take the plunge.

    He stood there, gazing at the magnificent opening adorned with stalactites that hung like nature’s own sparkling chandeliers, yearning for adventure.

    With the fire of determination lighting up his spirit, Gregory decided it was time to take the plunge, not physically at first, but by gearing up for the ultimate adventure!

    He rallied some friends who shared his passion for exploration, and together, they dove headfirst into an exciting training quest!

    They honed their cave exploring skills in preparation to conquer the Neversink Cave!

    When Gregory returned to Neversink Cave two years later, his excitement bounced off the walls!

    With a heart filled with anticipation and excitement bubbling in his feathers, he made his way back to that stunning entrance.

    As he descended into the cave, he stepped into a realm that felt truly otherworldly.

    The cave walls glimmered as water cascaded down, creating a soothing symphony of sounds that made him feel like he was in nature’s very own concert!

    Gregory described his experience as a monumental transformation, a journey that unfolded not just within the cave but within himself!

    He was ecstatic to finally discover the awe-inspiring formations, the intriguing beauty surrounding him, and the exhilarating sense of victory that comes with overcoming an obstacle.

    It was a day filled with friends and laughter echoing through the caverns, a perfect adventure indeed!

    And let’s not forget about that breathtaking opening!

    Gregory can assure you it’s a vision well worth the journey.

    He is incredibly thankful he leapt at the chance to embrace the full experience but he realizes that the training is not for everyone.

    I imagine that as he emerged from the cave, his face lit up with a triumphant smile!

    Gregory hadn’t just navigated the cave; he had overcome the obstacle, gaining new skills and passions on the journey.

    Nestled just 14.5 km west of Hafford, the Crooked Bush is one of Canada’s spectacular hidden gems.

    Imagine a fairy tale forest, but with a twist, literally!

    These aren’t your average aspen trees.

    They’re all about bending and twisting in the most peculiar ways, as if they’ve taken a yoga class or two.

    Local legend says there are tales of cattle avoiding the place and stories about buried treasure or even aliens! How fun is that?

    Scientists believe these trees are the result of a rare genetic mutation, which means they’re as unique as I am in my little rubbery world!

    Many locals think there’s something supernatural going on, which adds a sprinkle of mystery to The Crooked Bush.

    But enough about the myths, let’s get to the good stuff!

    Picture a wooden boardwalk gently guiding visitors through the grove, keeping their feet off the ground so as not to disturb my twisted friends.

    This isn’t just your average tourist spot; it’s a celebration of art, faith, and relentless dedication carved beautifully in stone!

    Cory has visited the Grotto many times over the years.

    He says that each time he returns, he discovers something he missed on previous visits.

    Let’s dive into the heartwarming tale of how this impressive shrine came to life.

    The Grotto of Redemption is considered the lifetime achievement of Father Paul Dobberstein.

    Father Dobberstein, a determined German immigrant and priest, made a promise to the Virgin Mary.

    If she blessed him with recovery from a serious illness, he would construct a shrine to honour her.

    Father Dobberstein recovered!

    And in 1912, he set out on a 42-year quest to gather rocks and stones to fulfill his vow.

    The Grotto of Redemption is a sprawling complex featuring nine breathtaking grottoes. Each portrays pivotal scenes from the life of Jesus Christ.

    As the world’s largest man-made grotto, this enchanting site is often affectionately dubbed the “eighth wonder of the world.”

    But The Grotto of Redemption isn’t just about its impressive dimensions.

    Stunning mosaics made from an extraordinary collection of minerals, fossils, and gemstones bring a unique element to the construction.

    Acclaimed for a value exceeding $4.3 million, these vibrant materials tell stories of hope and faith. In addition, they create a mosaic that sparkles in the sunlight and draws in over 100,000 visitors annually.

    The story behind the Grotto is as inspiring as the intricate scenes it displays.

    Father Dobberstein began using a wealth of minerals and precious and semi-precious stones to weave an unbreakable narrative of humanity’s fall and Christ’s redemption.

    Picture a spectacular display crafted from petrified wood, malachite, agate, and a whole host of other dazzling stones perfectly placed in concrete.

    Alongside Father Dobberstein was his invaluable right-hand man, Matt Szerensce. He became his devoted collaborator in this ambitious undertaking.

    Their combined knowledge and tireless labour transformed the Grotto into an iconic masterpiece. It covers an area about the size of an entire city block.

    Can you imagine the dedication it took? These two poured their hearts and souls into this divine creation!

    The Grotto of Redemption continues to inspire countless souls.

    Its beauty and the faith behind it provide a backdrop for reflection for those who explore its attributes.

    Cory says that the on-site museum is filled with rare gems from around the globe and stories of the Grotto and its creation.

    As you continue your stroll, you’ll stumble upon the legendary Goldfield Bottle House, a quirky structure made entirely of bottles!

    It’s a perfect backdrop for photos, and think of the wild stories those bottles could tell if they could talk!

    Before you wrap up this grand adventure, catch a thrilling showdown at the Goldfield Gunfight Arena!

    Grab your seat in the bleachers and hold onto your hats as the Cowboys duel it out! It’s an action-packed spectacle that’ll leave your little ducky heart racing!

    Bob here, to quack about our recent adventure on the way back from Arizona when my humans decided to waddle through the charming town of Sturgis, South Dakota.

    We were all fueled with excitement for the upcoming Sturgis Motorcycle Rally this summer, reminiscing about the electrifying atmosphere from last year!

    Upon our arrival, the ground was clear of snow, but there were also no signs of the impending bike festivities.

    It was as if we had stumbled into a tranquil bubble.

    Sturgis was quiet, with no bustling crowds or eager bikers revving their engines.

    Just a peaceful community savouring a rare moment of stillness.

    Then the weather changed.

    Snow began to dance gently from the sky, transforming the streets into a sparkling winter wonderland.

    Visibility dwindled, but still, there were no lines or roaring motorcycles to be found.

    It was a stark contrast to the frenetic energy of the bike rally: a serene day in March compared to the chaos of July!

    I couldn’t help but ponder the love-hate relationship the townsfolk must have with their seasonal rhythm.

    During the summer, Sturgis bursts to life with vibrant crowds, laughter, and the roar of motorcycle engines.

    But in this quiet time, they get to recharge and prepare for the spectacle to come, the Sturgis Bike Fest.

    It’s a beautiful dance of anticipation and rest, a season of planning nestled between bustling summers.

    So here’s to Sturgis!

    I can hardly wait to bask in the sun with my fellow bikers come summer, without a snowplow in sight.

    Gold and Silver Pawn Shop – Las Vegas, Nevada

    What’s a trip to Las Vegas without a splash at the legendary Gold and Silver Pawn Shop, home of the hit show Pawn Stars?

    When we arrived, the shop looked pretty ordinary at first glance, but the throngs of eager visitors told a different story!

    There were folks directing traffic as if it were the hottest club in town.

    We finally snagged a parking spot and waddled inside, where the air buzzed with excitement and the shelves overflowed with treasures just waiting to be discovered!

    I pondered how this quirky little pawn shop shot to stardom, drawing in over 3,000 visitors every single day!

    It all started back in 1980 when retired Navy sailor Richard B. Harrison, affectionately known as The Old Man, packed up his family and moved from sunny San Diego to sizzling Las Vegas.

    He opened a humble coin shop, but his son, Rick, had big dreams of creating a pawn shop that would thrive amid the city’s whirlwind of activity.

    At the time, Las Vegas had a pause on issuing new pawn licenses, pending the population reaching 250,000. Most would have given up, but not Rick!

    He bided his time like a duckling waiting for the right moment to leap into the water.

    In 1988, the population finally hit that magical number, and Rick raced to City Hall, emerging with one of the first pawn licenses issued in years.

    Now, how did a humble pawn shop become a star on national television, you might wonder?

    With a treasure trove of antiques, quirky collectibles, and priceless artifacts, the shop turned into a local legend.

    Visitors could find everything from exquisite artwork to ancient weapons!

    Rick saw a golden opportunity to share their delightful stories with the world through reality TV!

    He pitched the idea to various networks, pouring his heart into showcasing their blend of history, art, and delightful negotiations.

    After several attempts, the History Channel bit! Lights, cameras, action! The shop came alive with personalities galore!

    There’s Rick, the entrepreneurial whiz, The Old Man with his sage wisdom (sadly passed away in 2018), Corey, the son with snappy one-liners, and don’t forget Chumlee, the lovable goofball whose antics kept everyone in stitches.

    Together, they turned the pawn shop into a phenomenon that drew fans from all over to witness the nexus of history and hilarity!

    During my Saturday visit, even though I spotted their mugs on t-shirts and posters, I didn’t get a chance to meet any of the stars.

    But oh, the vibes!

    This quirky establishment was pulsating with life;

    every artifact had a story to tell,

    every bit of banter was infectious,

    and it felt like stepping into a living museum

    honouring both the past and the present.

    The Gold and Silver Pawn Shop is a must for anyone visiting Las Vegas.

    Whether you’re a curious traveller wanting to catch a glimpse of a Pawn Star,

    or a collector on the hunt for that one-of-a-kind treasure,

    you’ll bob away with your heart brimming with tales and maybe even a delightful little treasure of your own!

    Nestled in the picturesque Superstition Mountains along the legendary Apache Trail, this quirky ghost town is a fantastic pit stop.

    Brimming with rich history, stunning views, and just the right sprinkle of old-time nostalgia!

    Tortilla Flat was established in the early 1900s and once thrived as a mining and ranching community.

    It started as a simple trading post, but over the years, it evolved into a lively hub for weary travellers and adventurers eager to explore the surrounding mountains.

    Today, it stands as a testament to the resilient spirit and rugged charm of the Wild West, welcoming around 250,000 visitors each year who come to soak in its unique ambiance.

    As I waddle my way through the town, the first thing that grabs my attention is the jaw-dropping sight of the Superstition Mountains!

    They are stunning in all their jagged glory, surrounded by vibrant desert flora.

    Oh, what an incredible backdrop for a little rubber duck like me!

    One must-see stop is the iconic Tortilla Flat Post Office, which has been delivering mail since 1904!

    This lively spot still hums with activity, making it the perfect place to send a postcard to my friends back home.

    And, oh boy, you can’t miss the infamous jail!

    It’s a real piece of history, where stories of rowdy outlaws and heroic lawmen linger in the air like the scent of fresh tortillas.

    My human friends found themselves behind bars!

    Don’t worry, with a bit of chirpy quacking, I managed to negotiate their release so our adventure could continue!

    Now, onto the Superstition Saloon serving up a feast fit for a duck!

    Their famous prickly pear lemonade is a must-try.

    And the hearty dishes will keep visitors fueled for all sorts of escapades.

    The rustic decor, with cowboy memorabilia decorating the walls, makes every meal an adventure.

    You must make a pit stop in their bathrooms for some hilarious bathroom humour!

    Nearby, the Dutchman Inn buzzes with excitement, filled with lively humans tapping to the rhythm of live music echoing through the valley.

    If we weren’t on the go, I would have joined in on that toe-tapping fun!

    Don’t forget to pop by the Mercantile and the Country Store!

    A treasure trove of unique souvenirs and local crafts that capture the essence of the Old West.

    I almost got stuck on a shelf! Oops!

    I made my escape just in time, dodging a shopper who was eyeing me for their collection.

    And what’s this? I found myself posing in some rather, shall we say, unconventional picture frames!

    Who knew folks would line up to snap a photo in a toilet seat?

    Humans truly are endlessly entertaining!

    As I waddle down the dusty streets, I can feel the historical significance of Tortilla Flat weaving through the air.

    Every corner is bursting with tales, from trailblazing miners to brave pioneers who carved out lives in this stark yet beautiful landscape.

    I can only imagine what joys and challenges they faced without the luxuries we enjoy today.

    The true spirit of community shines brightly here, wrapped in the warmth of the locals, making my delightful journey all the more meaningful.

    If you’re a car or motorcycle enthusiast, you’re in for a real treat!

    Now, let’s start with the fabulous Count himself, Danny “The Count” Koker.

    This guy is more than just a rockstar; he’s a master mechanic with a heart of gold!

    With his extensive knowledge and passion for all things automotive, Count Koker has built a reputation as one of the most skilled customizers in the business.

    You might know him from the hit TV show “Counting Cars,” where he and his crew take on jaw-dropping restoration projects that leave you gasping in awe!

    Danny was not on site the day I waddled in, so I took the seat of honour and felt the power, if only for a few minutes!

    Speaking of the crew, let’s not forget about the one-and-only Horny Mike!

    This fun-loving fella is known for his outrageous personality and incredible talent for crafting one-of-a-kind, over-the-top creations.

    Every time he swings by, you know it’s going to be a wild ride!

    Together with the rest of the gang at Count’s Kustoms, they bring innovation and artistry to every vehicle they touch, transforming them into rolling masterpieces.

    The museum itself is a car lover’s paradise!

    With an impressive collection of classic cars and unique vehicles on display, there’s something for everyone to admire.

    From sleek muscle cars that rev up your excitement to stunning vintage rides that evoke nostalgia, each vehicle tells a unique story.

    It’s like stepping into a time capsule, but instead of sand and cobwebs, it’s all about gleaming paint and polished chrome!

    This talented team brings old clunkers back to life, and it’s like witnessing magic unfold before your very eyes.

    They pour their blood, sweat, and tears into every project, ensuring that each car and motorcycle not only looks incredible but also performs like a dream.

    It’s all about keeping the spirit of these machines alive while honouring their rich history.

    As I bob along, soaking in all the fabulous sights and stories, I can’t help but feel the camaraderie around this great place.

    The Count and his crew are all about embracing the fun side of car culture while celebrating the artistry behind restoration.

    I visited Count’s Kustoms on a buzzing weekend and the staff treated me like royalty.

    A little birdie (or should I say, a little ducky) told me that if you swing by Monday through Thursday, you might rub feathers with some of the senior crew members.

    What a splashtacular opportunity for fans!

    My humans were in awe of all the great vehicles and even managed to pick up momentos from the on-site store.

    It’s not just about the cars and motorcycles; it’s about the passion that drives them!

    Whether you’re a die-hard gearhead or love a good adventure, Count’s Kustoms Museum in Las Vegas is a bucket list stop!

    Nestled along the iconic Route 66, this charming little ghost town has a colourful history as vibrant as the landscapes surrounding it.

    Perfect for a quick detour on our road trip to Las Vegas from Apache Junction!

    Oatman was founded back in the early 1900s during the gold rush. In 1901, prospector George D. Wyeth found gold in the nearby hills, sparking a mining boom that drew a wave of hopeful miners and adventurers.

    The town flourished, reaching its peak around 1915 when it boasted over 3,500 residents!

    Can you imagine the hustle and bustle?

    Today, remnants of that rich history mix seamlessly with quirky shops and a lively spirit.

    As you stroll down the main street, you’ll find a treasure trove of quirky venues and shops that celebrate Oatman’s quirky character.

    The Oatman Hotel, built in 1902, is a must-see. It’s said to be haunted by the ghost of a former miner, which adds an air of intrigue!

    Plus, visitors can enjoy a cold drink on the patio while soaking in the fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. I might take a seat on the railing, after all, I’m a duck who knows how to relax!

    Don’t miss the charming shops housing unique souvenirs, artisan crafts, and local artwork.

    The Wild West feel remains alive, with locals often donning period costumes that transport you back to the town’s heyday.

    If you’re lucky, you might catch a live cowboy show or some lively music, complete with toe-tapping fiddle tunes!

    Speaking of music, be sure to check out the local saloon, where you can enjoy a taste of old-time Western hospitality along with cold refreshments.

    It’s a fantastic spot to mingle with other travellers and hear the stories of those who’ve come to this historic landmark.

    Perhaps the most delightful aspect of my visit was encountering the famous Oatman burros, yes, those adorable donkeys!

    They’re quite the celebrities here!

    Descendants of the pack animals used by gold miners, these gentle creatures roam freely through the town, adding a touch of charm and liveliness.

    Visitors love feeding them carrots and snapping plenty of photos, and who could resist?

    I mean, who wouldn’t want to take a picture with a friendly donkey?

    We actually thought we had missed them, but just as we were heading out of town, there they were, surrounding us for our apples!

    As I bob around, soaking up the atmosphere of Oatman, I can’t help but feel the sense of community and the spirit of adventure that brought people here over a century ago.

    We only had time for a quick drive through this time.

    We will return one day to fully experience the history, the burros, and the overall Americana that Oatman has to offer.

    Bob here, going back in time to life from the Wild West history books through the OK Corral Shootout in Tombstone, Arizona!

    This legendary event has been the subject of many Western movies, and here I am, waddling through the streets of exactly where this famous shootout erupted.

    Grab your cowboy hat and hold on tight, because this tale is as thrilling as a tumbleweed chase!

    As we enter the outdoor theatre area, Wild West characters guide us to the seating area and prepare us for the emotional intensity of that fateful day.

    The OK Corral Shootout took place on October 26, 1881, and it certainly wasn’t your typical day on the frontier.

    Tensions had been building between the lawmen, known as the Earps: Virgil, Wyatt, and Morgan, and a group of outlaws called the Cowboys, who were no strangers to trouble.

    With the backdrop of a booming silver mining town, Tombstone was a hub of excitement, but also of danger, as various factions jostled for power.

    As I float along in my pool of vintage vibes, I imagine the clinking of spurs and the murmur of townsfolk gossiping in the saloon about the brewing conflict.

    The day came when all parties decided it was time to settle scores.

    The lawmen, armed and determined, moving down the dusty lane towards the OK Corral

    The Cowboys gathered at the Corral, prepared to take over the town.

    Each side preparing for what would become a historic confrontation.

    The show makes the event entertaining with humour built in to lighten the day.

    I can only imagine how thick the tension must have been that day in 1881 as the lawmen and the cowboys made their way to the street for the face-off.

    The gunfight is short-lived.

    A total of 30 rounds are fired in a fierce exchange that lasts less than a minute.

    When the smoke clears, the three Cowboys, Tom McLaury, Frank McLaury, and Billy Clanton, are motionless on the ground.

    The Earps and their ally, Doc Holliday, emerge victorious from the chaos.

    The shootout, although brief, was pivotal in shaping the folklore of the Old West.

    Tombstone today pulses with a life reminiscent of its cowboy past.

    Historic buildings line the street.

    Laughter and music radiate from the western-themed saloons.

    People come from near and far to experience the Wild West at its roots in a town where history comes back to life.

    We left with a sense of connection to this vital era of American history.

    The OK Corral Shootout is a reminder of the frontier’s wildness and the characters who shaped its narrative.

    Bob here to take you on an exciting adventure to an engineering wonder: the Roosevelt Dam in Arizona!

    It all started when my adventurous friend Grace decided to hop along with my humans on a thrilling road trip through Arizona’s stunning landscapes.

    As we glided through the striking deserts and picturesque vistas, I couldn’t help but quack with delight. Every twist and turn was more beautiful than the last!

    Our grand journey led us to the Roosevelt Dam, a true gem of American ingenuity.

    Let me whisk you back in time to when construction kicked off in 1903 at a spot then known as the Tonto Site.

    A colossal structure made of massive stones, soaring an impressive 280 feet into the sky!

    Now, this dam wasn’t just any ordinary construction project.

    The Roosevelt Dam was designed to provide a reliable water source for irrigation while also providing flood control.

    Transforming the parched desert into a flourishing agricultural haven.

    At the time, it was the largest masonry dam in the world.

    President Theodore Roosevelt dedicated the dam on March 18, 1911.

    Can you imagine the celebrations as he pressed the button that released water rushing from the reservoir?

    Speaking of making a splash, welcome to Roosevelt Lake?

    This beautiful reservoir created by the dam is the largest lake in central Arizona.

    Fast forward to 1936, when the dam underwent some changes.

    They lowered the spillways by 6 feet, added gate hoists, and modified the operating motors!

    But the biggest transformation happened between 1989 and 1996 at a cost of about $430 million.

    Before they could begin the construction, they needed to reroute traffic from crossing the dam.

    The magnificent Roosevelt Lake Bridge was created.

    This engineering wonder spans the lake, offering breathtaking views!

    Just imagine gliding across the longest two-lane, single-span steel-arch bridge in North America!

    This bridge is a real game-changer, and it accomplished the goal of taking traffic off the dam, allowing the transformation!

    As the Roosevelt Dam underwent extensive safety upgrades, it was transformed into a robust concrete gravity arch dam.

    They encased the original stones in concrete, raised its height by an impressive 77 feet, and stretched its crest to over 1,000 feet!

    Roosevelt Lake is surrounded by breathtaking scenery and a rich tapestry of history.

    I can’t help but appreciate how the Roosevelt Dam has changed this region and the lives of countless people who depend on it.

    While we splash around enjoying the adventure and beauty of the area, it’s clear that the community’s very existence relies on the invaluable support the Roosevelt Dam provides.

    Every person and place in this world has a story, and the tale of the Roosevelt Dam is a testament to the visionaries of the past who shaped our lives today.

    So, here’s to engineering marvels and the incredible journeys they inspire!

    Desert Belle Cruise – Sagauro Lake, Arizona

    Bob here reporting in from the serene waters of Saguaro Lake, Arizona, on the Desert Belle Cruise boat!

    I was treated to a delightful cruise aboard the Desert Belle after a full day of riding, thanks to my friend Grace.

    Our guide for the day was none other than Captain Dan.

    His entertaining stories and deep knowledge about the lake and its surroundings made our voyage even more engaging.

    With a gentle breeze ruffling the surface of the water, I felt right at home gliding along as Captain Dan shared tales of the area’s fascinating history and wildlife, definitely a master of the maritime arts!

    The crew on board were nothing short of fantastic!

    Super friendly and attentive, ensuring we had a top-notch experience as we took in the stunning surroundings.

    One of my humans couldn’t resist a glass of Cab Sav as she relaxed and enjoyed the beauty of the surroundings.

    And everyone loaded up on popcorn to help lure in my winged cousins for a visit.

    The rugged beauty of the Sonoran Desert, with its iconic saguaros standing tall against the shimmering lake, was a sight to behold.

    Saguaros only grow about 1” in the first 10 years and likely won’t bloom until they are over 50 years old.

    Did you know that saguaros typically do not grow arms until they are 75 to 100 years old! 

    Until then, they stand tall as a simple green column.

    Now, I must admit, we were a little late in the day to spot the local wildlife, like big horn sheep or the evasive herd of wild horses.

    But I did manage to catch a glimpse of a couple of majestic bald eagles nesting high above on the mountain top.

    They soared with such grace, and even I was a bit starstruck! Imagine being a duck and sharing the sky with those glorious birds!

    While we might not have seen a stampede of critters that day, the peaceful atmosphere and the company of good friends made up for it tenfold.

    As the Desert Belle glided across the water, I felt the spirit of adventure wash over me, reminding me of the wonder that nature brings, even in quieter moments.

    We docked just before the closing of the gift shop…providing one of my humans had a chance to buy a local Amethyst. 

    Arizona is home to amethyst mining that produces some of the rarest amethyst in the world, like the Siberian Red Amethyst!

    If you have the time, a helicopter ride to tour the mountain top mine would be a visit to remember!

    I definitely recommend taking the Desert Belle Cruise for anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of Saguaro Lake.

    With a captain as charming and informative as Dan and a crew that treats you like family, it’s a floating party worth every quack of the journey!

    Bob here, ready to take you on a delightful adventure to the Cape Tryon Lighthouse in Prince Edward Island!

    I’ve learned plenty about this lovely spot, thanks to Thomas from PEI, as our Week 13 winner of the Get Your Bob On contest!

    Thomas enjoys hopping over to this stunning locale to ponder the history and soak up the breathtaking views.

    Cape Tyron Lighthouse is a majestic lighthouse standing tall on a splendid red sandstone cliff.

    It watches over the shimmering waters along the northern coast of Prince Edward Island.

    Built in 1965 (though the original structure dates back to 1905!), the Cape Tryon Lighthouse is like a protective guardian of the sea.

    It ensures that all mariners navigate safely past the shallow waters.

    The amazing Cape Tryon Lighthouse rises to 12.5 meters (or 40 feet) tall. It is a square, tapered wooden beauty sitting high atop red sandstone cliffs, just north of the village of French River.

    It guides boats safely between Richmond Bay and New London, warning of the tricky shallow waters that extend far from shore.

    Painted in classic white with red accents, it’s a sight to see!

    Thomas tells me that when he visits, the serenity of the place washes over him like a gentle wave.

    He parks his car, gazes out over the ocean, and reflects on the rich stories this lighthouse holds.

    Can you imagine what it must have been like for the very first keeper in 1905, Captain William Bell?

    Standing there, expertly guiding ships with the flicker of a candle in the fog!

    Cape Tyron Lighthouse has evolved over the years, from its early days with a simple oil lamp to its current electric light.

    Oh, and let me tell you about Lucy Maud Montgomery, the beloved author of “Anne of Green Gables.”

    She was apparently inspired by this very spot!

    In her book, she painted dreamy pictures of the Cape and its enchanting lighthouse, capturing readers’ hearts everywhere.

    So, if you ever find yourself on a quest for beauty and history, make your way to Cape Tryon!

    While the lighthouse is on private property, you can still enjoy its splendour from a nearby public road.

    It’s one of PEI’s hidden treasures that’s absolutely worth the journey.

    We were making our way from Lincoln, Nebraska, to Apache Junction, Arizona, when we stumbled upon the Buffalo Bill Cultural Center in Oakley, Kansas.

    It wasn’t quite open yet, but the sculptures and descriptions outside let us imagine all the treasures inside.

    Now, let me tell you a bit about the legendary man at the heart of this center, Buffalo Bill Cody!

    Born William Frederick Cody in 1846, he earned the nickname Buffalo Bill while working as a buffalo hunter for the Kansas Pacific Railroad.

    Can you believe he was said to have hunted over 4,000 buffalo in just 18 months?

    Without even going into the center, you can experience the passion through the incredible detail in the larger-than-life bronze statue on site.

    Imagine Buffalo Bill riding his favourite horse and taking down 69 buffalo with his best rifle to win the contest to claim the moniker of Buffalo Bill.

    He went on to create the famous Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show.

    His show toured across the United States and even made its way to Europe.

    It was a thrilling spectacle filled with cowboy stunts, sharpshooting, and Native American performances.

    Buffalo Bill became an icon of American frontier culture, a true superstar of his time!

    The Buffalo Bill Cultural Center is a tribute to his legacy, showcasing not just his life but also the history of the American West.

    The passion and dedication of the local community in Oakley made this center a reality, exactly as they envisioned, preserving the stories and traditions of the frontier.

    While we were too early to explore inside, the exterior ambiance was warm and inviting, showcasing the impressive structures and information that piqued my interest for more.

    Hello there, shoe lovers and curious minds! Bob here, floating through the marvellous world of footwear at the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto.

    Jocelyn from Ontario brought the Bata Shoe Museum to the forefront in her submission to win week 12 of the Get Your Bob On Contest.

    This museum is not your average gallery; it’s a treasure trove of history that spans over 4,500 years, dedicated entirely to the fascinating story told through shoes.

    Can you imagine?

    From the sandals of ancient civilizations to modern-day designs, each pair has its own narrative.

    The museum boasts over 15,000 shoes and artifacts and has just recently started exhibiting shoes of the future.

    Founded by Sonja Bata, the museum opened to the public on May 6th, 1995.

    Sonja embarked on this journey with the mission to illuminate human history through footwear, and our BOBBER Jocelyn loves that!

    She visits every year to explore the ever-changing exhibits, and frankly, I think she might be the museum’s biggest fan!

    Jocelyn is quite the shoe enthusiast, boasting an impressive collection of over 300 pairs!

    That’s right, while I’m happy with my shiny yellow exterior, Jocelyn’s passion for shoes knows no bounds.

    She jokes that she has a pair to suit her every mood, thank goodness she doesn’t have duck feet like me!

    At every social event she plans to attend, Jocelyn insists on finding the perfect shoes before she even thinks about the outfit.

    Then the outfit must work perfectly with those shoes.  Now that’s dedication!

    I must admit, her approach to fashion suits me perfectly.

    As you glide through the museum, you can hear the whispers of history echoing from each display.

    There’s something special about the way shoes connect people across cultures and eras.

    Some shoes have walked through time, while others have danced their way into our hearts.

    And don’t even get me started on the unique styles, there’s so much creativity, just like a rubber duck’s imagination!

    At the Bata Shoe Museum, you’re not just looking at shoes; you’re stepping into stories from various parts of the world.

    Each pair reveals something about the people who wore them: traditions, innovations, and a touch of personal flair.

    It’s a reminder of how footwear has always been more than a mere necessity; it’s a form of expression.

    Bob, here to take you on a splashing adventure to one of the most unique places on Earth, the Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside of Denver, Colorado!

    Our week eleven winner of the GET YOUR BOB ON Contest, Eric from Colorado, introduced me to this spectacular gem.

    Eric enjoyed a rocking concert by Jordan Davis in September 2025.

    Now, when you think of Red Rocks Park, don’t just picture concertgoers swaying to the music.

    Imagine bobbing along amidst a breathtaking backdrop of 738 acres filled with deer, dinosaurs, fabulous pines, and the wide-open prairie.

    Standing at a high-flying 6,450 feet above sea level, this is where the Great Plains tango with the Rocky Mountains!

    It’s nature’s own blend of stunning vistas and diverse wildlife, making it an enchanting place for land-loving ducks like yours truly.

    But let’s talk about the amphitheatre itself.

    Can you believe it’s the only naturally-occurring, acoustically perfect venue in the WHOLE world?

    Legendary artists, from The Beatles to U2, have graced this incredible stage, and I hear every feathered friend in the crowd feels the spirit!

    Now here’s a fun little tidbit: the land where the amphitheatre sits has a history that flows through it like a bubbling brook.

    It’s the traditional territory of the Ute, Cheyenne, and Arapahoe Peoples, who have called this stunning area home long before anyone was strumming guitars or blasting beats.

    Building the amphitheatre was no small feat. It all began on May 9, 1936, when Denver’s mayor, Benjamin Franklin Stapleton, rallied to make this dream a reality. The project, overseen by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), transformed this beautiful landscape into an acoustic wonder over five years (way longer than most ducks take to find their favourite pond)!

    As the workers dug deep with picks and shovels, they removed a whopping 50,000 cubic feet of rock to create the perfect seating area for the audience. And guess what?

    Over 90,000 square feet of gorgeous sandstone was laid down to craft the seated oasis, specially quarried to mirror the stunning natural beauty of Red Rocks.

    Add to those materials the steel and, of course, the many hours of hard labour and equipment hours, and voila…the amphitheatre comes to life on July 4, 1941.

    What did this cost you, may ask?  Well, back in the day, the cost was $473,163.56, which is equivalent to over $11 million today!

    The Red Rock Amphitheatre has a seating capacity of 9,525 friendly ducklings, and if you climb from the stage to the top, you would have had a 193-stair climbing cardio workout.

    From dinosaurs roaming the land millions of years ago to epic rock concerts, Red Rocks Amphitheatre is a treasure trove of history and unforgettable experiences.

    So here’s to the splendid moments Eric had at Jordan Davis’s concert and to all the amazing adventures waiting in this iconic venue.

    Skating at the Forks – Winnipeg, Manitoba

    What an absolutely delightful morning it was at The Forks in Winnipeg!

    As I bobbed along, my bright yellow exterior gleaming in the sunlight, I was bubbling with excitement for a play date with my best pal, Grace. The trails shimmered with frost, beckoning us to lace up our skates and breathe in the crisp winter air.

    I usually float around the scenic Forks area in the summer, but this was my first chance to glide over the frozen Nestaweya River Trail!

    Each winter, the rivers transform into a lively playground, where skaters twirl like whirling dervishes and families stroll along the longest naturally frozen skating trail in the world.

    This vibrant tradition started in 2008-09, and boy, has it been a Winnipeg must-do event ever since!

    With over 200,000 visitors each season, there’s a parade of friends passing by, filling the air with laughter and joy.

    Winter in Winnipeg is simply magical, and I can’t wait to bob along and soak it all in!

    From my cozy perch, I watched everyone enjoying the warming huts.

    They’re not just practical shelters; they’re art pieces created by local and international artists in an annual contest.

    They certainly add a splash of colour and creativity to the trail.

    Some huts make a comeback each year, but most are new contenders, showcasing fresh talent.

    When Grace and I arrived, one particular warm-up shack immediately caught my attention.

    It looked a little like a television character named SpongeBob.  Just the sight of it made me feel right at home in the frosty atmosphere.

    Folks were gathered here, swapping stories and sipping hot drinks, their cheeks blooming from the cold and their smiles radiating warmth.

    After a few joyful spins along the trail, Grace looked at me with a gleam in her eye and asked, “Do you want to play hockey?”

    Of course, I was thrilled! Little did I know that my role in this game would take a hilariously unexpected twist.

    Before I could float away with excitement, Grace scooped me up and, to my astonishment, I was transformed into the puck!

    I zipped across the ice, propelled by Grace’s energetic shots and infectious laughter.

    Who knew being a rubber duck could be such an exhilarating experience?

    Though I couldn’t quite flap my wings during all the fast-paced action, I was having the time of my life.

    The morning was a kaleidoscope of joy, teamwork, and a few unexpected giggles as I rolled around the rink with skaters gliding all around me.

    It was a beautiful day of skating and laughter, a memory I’ll treasure as a delightful adventure on the ice!

    I even picked up a new friend along the way!

    There’s nothing quite like a cold drink at the Superstition Saloon and Restaurant!

    After filling up on scrumptious food, take a stroll through the little red schoolhouse museum that’s brimming with local history.

    You’ll learn about the intriguing story of the Lost Dutchman’s Gold and what life was like for Native Americans in this beautiful landscape.

    Don’t forget to sign the guest book; I love seeing where visitors come from!

    Next, pop into the Old-Fashioned Country Store for a scoop of the world-famous prickly pear gelato, and if you’re lucky, maybe some homemade fudge too. Perfect for a sweet treat to take with you!

    And of course, you can’t leave without capturing a photo at the iconic toilet seat display! Trust me, it’s a quacky good time!

    As you prepare to leave this quaint little town, make sure to visit the Mercantile Gift Shop for some unique souvenirs.

    Whether it’s a funky t-shirt or an Arizona-themed keepsake, you’ll find the perfect memento to remember your fabulous trip.

    Our week nine winner of the GET YOUR BOB ON contest takes us through Sandy’s tides of life!

    Sandy had a marriage that flowed for 24 years. She and her former partner raised two amazing boys – Cameron, nearing the big 3-0, and her baby boy, just a hop away from 28.

    Unfortunately, like a boat adrift without a paddle, their love started to drift apart, with her partner choosing a bottle of rum over the love of his life.

    Fast forward a few chapters, and Sandy entered a new romance with a fellow from her high school days.

    Talk about a fairytale! They tied the knot on Halloween 2021 in a charming church built in the 1800s, draped in black and purple.

    Their cake screamed spooky chic – three tiers dressed with black skulls!

    Their reception was the talk of the town, and little did they know how fitting the theme would be.

    Just three months into their marriage, Sandy faced a storm she never saw coming.

    Tragically, her beloved Jason passed away from an overdose, leaving her in a tidal wave of grief, anger, and confusion.

    In the wake of heartbreak, Sandy found herself with a life insurance check that felt like a tidal wave of cash – $100,000 floating her way!

    Unfortunately, it vanished quicker than a rubber duck at a pool party.

    A sports car, souped-up truck, and even a Harley bike slipped through her fingers as she sought happiness in the most temporary of ways.

    But like any good adventure, things took a sudden turn.

    In 2024, while riding around in her beloved Dodge Scat Pack, she caught a little trouble with the law – hello, DUI! With legal fees looming, Sandy reluctantly listed her cherished Harley on Marketplace.

    That’s when Wayne, a true biker, rode into her life. I mean, come on, a leather-clad, gray-bearded legend? How could she resist?

    They chatted over time, bridging the 3.5-hour distance between Mocksville and Wilmington.

    Wayne shared his journey of recovery, proudly sporting over three years of sobriety.

    Sandy, who had never dated a biker before, suddenly realized she’d never dated anyone sober either.

    So why not take a chance?

    With that twist of fate, Wayne upgraded his ride from Sandy’s Sportster to a much more comfortable Ultra Glide – because let’s be honest, that Sportster seat was not designed for long rides!

    And then came that magical Christmas Eve ride.

    Sandy felt the warmth of the sun as they cruised down to Wrightsville Beach.

    Little did she know, her life was about to take another exhilarating turn!

    After a stroll on the sand,

    gathering seashells like a true beachcomber,

    she turned around to find Wayne, the big bad biker,

    on one knee with a ring in hand!

    “Yes!!!” she exclaimed, feeling all the love bubble up inside her.

    Although they haven’t set a date yet, you can bet it’ll be a beach/biker wedding, draped in the striking colours of orange, black, and white – Harley-Davidson style, of course!

    And they’ve even invited me to join in on the fun!

    Wilmington promises not just love in the air but also stunning sights like Fort Fisher, an aquarium, engaging battleship tours, and a bunch of beautiful beaches to explore.

    Bob here, and I’m bubbling with excitement to share the adventure of the spectacular Good Cheer Trail in Nova Scotia!

    Thanks to Bobber Ron from Nova Scotia for bringing this incredible experience to my attention as part of the “Get Your BOB On” contest. So, let’s dive in!

    The Good Cheer Trail is not just any ordinary trail; it’s a scrumptious journey that celebrates the amazing craftsmanship of Nova Scotia’s beverage producers.

    Spanning from the stunning coastal town of Yarmouth all the way up to the charming Sydney on Cape Breton Island.

    This trail features over 80 stops where you can sample the best wines, craft beers, ciders, spirits, and even mead that the province has to offer!

    Talk about a beverage buffet!

    This trail has some serious historical flair, too! It pays homage to Nova Scotia’s rich culinary tapestry woven over the last 400 years.

    The name itself harks back to 1606 when the first gathering of L’Ordre du Bon Temps (Order of Good Cheer) took place in Port Royal.

    This club was set up to help folks survive those icy winters and is also regarded as one of North America’s earliest gastronomic societies, bringing people together through the magic of food and drink!

    Imagine waddling along this path, each stop celebrating the spirit of the Order of Good Cheer, founded by Samuel de Champlain at North America’s first European settlement. Talk about a historic hop and sip!

    Among the gems along the Good Cheer Trail are incredible spots!

    Like Lunn’s Mill Brewing Co., where you can savour some delicious craft beers,

    and Tidal Bay Winery, boasting white wines that capture the very essence of Nova Scotia.

    And I can’t help but quack about Glenora Distillery – the first single malt whisky distillery in North America! Cheers to that!

    The Good Cheer Trail is a fantastic way to explore Nova Scotia’s vibrant craft beverage scene while enjoying the province’s natural beauty and rich history.

    Whether you’re a local or a visitor, it’s an adventure worth experiencing!

    One of the best parts of exploring the Good Cheer Trail is the Good Cheer Trail Passport!

    You can pick up this passport at various stops along the way, or download the app to collect stamps as you visit different venues.

    Not only does it allow you to keep track of your journey, but collecting stamps can lead to some delightful rewards, including a free t-shirt and entries into grand prize draws!

    Bob here to share the fabulous adventure of our week seven winner, Bobber Emilie!

    Hold on to your flippers because we’re diving into a magical moment that unfolded at the one and only Hôtel de Glace, or as I like to call it, the Ice Hotel in Valcartier, Quebec.

    It turns out, love can be just as frosty as ice!

    Hotel de Glace is constructed from about 11,000 tons of snow and 350 tons of ice. The result – a magnificent frozen palace!

    That’s right – it’s the only Ice Hotel in North America and a true winter wonderland.

    Now, imagine Emilie’s boyfriend concocting a weekend brimming with surprises.

    A dazzling engagement ring waiting in his pocket to pop the big question.

    After their 40-minute drive from Quebec City, they waddled through the stunning entrance.

    Emilie and her future husband were greeted by a crisp breeze and a sight that sparkled like my own rubbery exterior!

    The Grand Hall was filled with jaw-dropping ice sculptures and twinkling lights.

    They like Hollywood icons at an extravagant gala instead of an icy getaway!

    After receiving a warm welcome and delightful cocktails served in ice glasses, they headed off to their cozy igloo-like suite.

    Wrapped in fluffy fleece blankets, they snuggled together, no doubt sharing chuckles and sweet whispers in their snug little hideaway.

    Now that’s what I call “cool” vibes!

    But wait, the fun didn’t stop there!

    Off they went to the Nordic area, where bubbling hot tubs and a canopy of stars invited them to relax.

    Basking in the warmth while laughter danced through the frosty air!

    The next day was jam-packed with adventure!

    Zipping down thrilling slopes at Village Vacances Valcartier, cheeks flushed and giggles echoing all around.

    Then, off to the ice rink, gliding and twirling hand in hand beneath the gentle kiss of the winter sun.

    Who knew love could be so much fun?

    But the grand finale awaited! As the sun dipped low, the moment arrived – proposal time!

    With a heart full of excitement, Emilie’s boyfriend dropped to one knee under twinkling lights that sparkled like stars.

    Out came that stunning ring, and Emilie – oh, she just glimmered with joy!

    “YES!” she whispered, and I could practically hear the cheers echoing through the wintry wonderland.

    They celebrated with cocktails at the Ice Bar, toasting to their future before retreating to their icy bedroom.

    Cuddled up in thick sleeping bags, candlelight flickering around them, they drifted into dreamland.

    Their one-night stay at the Hôtel de Glace was packed with laughter, love, and memories. These special memories would melt the iciest heart!

    As they checked out the next day, they cheered at the thought of returning.

    After all, the magic of winter and their beautiful love story would be waiting for them to explore again.

    Gathering of the Ducks – Kristen from Florida

    Bob here, with a splashing good story to tell you all about our week six winner of the Get Your Bob on contest!

    Kristen from sunny Florida, who has a BOBortunity that truly warms my little ducky heart – an inspiring collection of ducks!

    Kristen’s adventures are legendary!

    With her hard-earned coins on hand, she and her husband embark on journeys across the Southern US.

    They dive into every claw machine they encounter.

    It’s like a treasure hunt, and what treasures have they found?

    The most eclectic duck family you could ever imagine!

    It all began at a lively bar in Clearwater Beach called The Brown Boxer.

    The Brown Boxer is packed with fun games to keep you entertained while you sip a drink. Kristen had her eyes on the prize – a claw machine filled with an assortment of rubber ducks!

    With a bit of help from her husband, who seems to be a claw machine pro, they turned a single dollar into a lucky haul of six ducks! Can you believe it?

    WOWZA! Being the honest duckies they are, they let the manager know, and he chuckled while giving them the green light to keep all of them.

    And just like that, the collection started with the first duck out of the claw, Tampa Bay Lightning Duck!

    The hunt for ducks is now a cherished tradition!

    Every duck-filled claw machine they come across holds a lucky duck just waiting for Kristen to scoop it up and bring it into her loving flock.

    I can only imagine how she would feel if she found me pressed against the glass, urging them to take me home… just kidding!

    I adore my human friends way too much to trade them in!

    Kristen has amassed a whopping 20 ducks (not counting the three she won since she submitted)!

    Each one has a unique name, such as the dashing Zorro Duck, Aqua Duck, and Mr. Duck III.

    And how could I forget Vet Duck?

    This brave retired army vet is the honorary leader of her flock, making sure everyone follows the ducky house rules!

    Among Kristen’s favourites is Navy Duck, which holds a special place in her heart, reminding her of time spent working to secure freedom for all.

    And then there’s Ariel the Duckmaid, who is simply the belle of the ball.

    But I have my eye on the fabulous Sara Duckasaurus – those purple feathers are the perfect plumage for a night out on the town!

    Kristen and her husband have found ducky friends all the way in California, and as local as their neighbourhood bar in Florida, collecting memories along the way.

    They’ve discovered ducks in a cozy lodge on Ober Mountain in Tennessee, and even while enjoying pizza in Pigeon Forge.

    Adding feathered friends to their family tree at fun gaming spots like Monster Mini Golf and Dave & Buster’s must include hours of entertainment!

    Just when we thought we had included all the ducks in Kristen’s collection, off she went to Whiskey Jack’s and won three additional friends for the flock!

    Duck-leberry and Duck-terrestrial are very colourful friends joining the flock!

    But an integral addition is Vet’s new service dog – Spot-Duck!

    With Spot always at Vet’s side they are prepared for anything that may come their way!

    Today is the day to quack about the incredible escapade of our week five winner, Jeannie, from the Get Your BOB on Contest – she shared her fabulous trip to the legendary Hoover Dam!

    Waddle with me as we dive into this exciting journey from the dazzling lights of Las Vegas to this awe-inspiring engineering marvel sitting between Nevada and Arizona!

    The Hoover Dam is a towering concrete arch-gravity masterpiece nestled in the stunning Black Canyon of the Colorado River.

    It’s not just a dam; it’s a monumental beauty that’s about 35 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. It’s perfect for a day trip full of excitement!

    Built during the Great Depression between 1931 and 1936 and dedicated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on September 30, 1935, as the Boulder Dam before reverting to its original name in 1947.

    The Hoover Dam was once the tallest in the world. Jeannie could understand why as she stood before it, taking in its staggering height of 726 feet!

    She couldn’t help but exclaim, “It’s astonishing what humans can build!” She soaked in the sheer scale and beauty surrounding her – oh, how my little rubber heart wished to float alongside her!

    But it wasn’t just fun and games! As Jeannie floated around the dam, a serious expression crossed her face when she looked down at the meandering Colorado River.

    She noticed the declining water levels and expressed concern.

    “Water is essential for life!” she remarked, reminding us all that even in the shadow of such a magnificent structure, we must think about preserving our precious resources.

    Wise words, Jeannie!

    When she made her way up to the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, wow, oh wow, what a sight!

    The breathtaking views stretched for miles!

    The sun was dancing on the river, creating a glittering spectacle!

    Jeannie snapped a ton of pictures, trying to capture the tantalizing beauty of this epic landscape.

    After soaking in all that wonder, she ventured into the visitor center for a guided tour.

    Oh, the stories she brought back! Jeannie couldn’t get enough of the history. The dam not only stood tall amid a challenging time in history, but it is vital today. It generates enough hydroelectric power to energize over 1.3 million people!

    Can you quack-believe that?

    Jeannie’s eyes sparkled as she learned how it powers Nevada, Arizona, and even California!

    But the adventure didn’t stop there! The area around the dam becomes a playground in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Jeannie and her pals set out on a short hike among the colourful rock formations and stunning landscapes.

    What a fantastic backdrop for some fun!

    As Jeannie wrapped up her tale, she radiated gratitude for the unforgettable day filled with exploration and insight.

    What could be better than good friends, incredible scenery and some knowledge to take home with you!

    World’s Largest Sausage Landmark – Mundare, Alberta

    I’m swimming in excitement to announce our week three winner of the GET YOUR BOB ON Contest – it’s none other than Ashley!

    She shared a whacky yet wonderful BOBortunity centered around the World’s Biggest Sausage landmark, as recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2001.

    At first, I thought Ashley might just be playing with my feathery head. However, as I dove deeper into this tale, I discovered a story that’s as meaty as it is fascinating!

    Get ready to waddle over to Mundare, Alberta, home to the legendary World’s Biggest Sausage, which some locals affectionately refer to as the “Giant Turd”.

    This 42-foot-tall sausage statue is quite the eye-catcher. It is a tribute to Stawnichy’s Meat Processing, a family-run sausage factory famous for its kielbasa (that’s sausage to you land squirrels!).

    Built in 2001 for around $120,000, this colossal 12,000-pound monument was crafted to brave winds of up to 160 km/h. It stands tall alongside flags representing Canada, Alberta, and, of course, the Stawnichy brand.

    Now, let me take you back to where this all started. Mundare is a charming farming community, nestled just a hop and a splash east of Edmonton.

    It was settled by many farmers from Eastern Europe who brought their delicious culture to Canada.

    Among the culinary treasures they introduced is the beloved kielbasa. This highly seasoned garlic sausage first hit the market in 1959, thanks to the Stawnichy family!

    What began as a small sausage shop on the family farm turned into a booming business. Word about their mouth-watering creation spread like ripples through the water.

    Since then, the family has smoked over 25 million sausages. Can you imagine that?!

    The saga of Stawnichy’s is one of dedication and growth. By the end of the ’80s, they expanded their operations to keep up with ever-growing demand.

    They opened Uncle Ed’s Place, a sit-down spot for Ukrainian food in Edmonton in the 90s. Does anyone say “tasty pierogies” to pair with those sausages?

    Fast forward a bit, and by the early 2000s, they doubled their facility. They also added all sorts of fancy equipment to keep those sausages rolling out!

    Uncle Ed’s had to move to a bigger place to fit all the hungry customers wanting a taste of home. Talk about a success story!

    Today, Stawnichy’s remains a family-owned gem, still cranking out 80+ products and serving over 1.8 million customers. They achieve this all while maintaining that original love for delicious sausage.

    It’s incredible what can happen when a family embraces their BOBortunity and never lets it float away!
