    4P Festival and Parade – Pine Falls, Manitoba

    Bob here to share a ride we did to the charming shores of Pine Falls, Manitoba for a motorcycle parade at their 4P Festival

    I’m here to share some fun facts about the Festival and its spectacular parade, an event that really makes waves in the community every September!

    The 4P Festival is not just any festival; it’s a vibrant celebration of the town’s heritage and the special things that make Pine Falls uniquely fabulous.

    The 4P’s stand for Power, Pickerel, Peas, and Paper, each telling a story as rich as the waters I bob around in!

    Power for the Pine Falls Generating Station

    Pickerel for the Walleye Capital of Manitoba

    Peas for the scrumptious St. George’s peas

    Paper for the mill, although closed, represents their history

    The 4P Festival takes place over the Labour Day long weekend, with a cozy family-reunion vibe.

    With more than 20 events throughout the weekend, there is something for everyone!

    Chainsaw Competition

    And even more… Lego sculpture competition, pancake breakfast, car show, Kids’ play zone…you name it!

    We rode out to participate in the motorcycle parade to kick off the 4P Festival Parade!

    It winds through the streets on Sunday at noon.

    Our job was to ride our motorcycles through the parade route just before the actual parade to get everyone excited for what was to come.

    And of course to have fun!

    We did our job well, as the anxious parade crowd had fun getting to know me.

    Then it was time for the main event!

    Floats, vehicles, people and animals representing all community members!

    from schools and sports to casinos, pawn shops, restaurants, and community service vehicles.  The whole area was involved!

    We left shortly after the parade, so we didn’t get to enjoy the full 4P Festival, but I heard the crowd talking about a fishing tournament to close out the weekend.

    It sounded like that would be a highlight for everyone.

    The 4P Festival and Parade is the place to be over Labour Day Weekend!

    Bob the Rubber Duck here to tell you all about my recent adventures in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

    Many of my fellow Manitobans flock to this lovely city for back-to-school shopping, often sticking to the main retail area.

    But let me quack about how much more there is to discover beyond those familiar stores!

    On a recent trip, we ventured downtown! 

    Wow, Grand Forks folks really show the I CARE in their downtown.

    We stumbled upon Bad Man Designs, a treasure trove of unique creations!

    From unique statues to delightful gifts and beautiful jewelry, I found myself quite enamoured with the local artistry.

    We couldn’t resist bringing a few special items home; they have been great conversation starters!

    And let’s not forget about dining!

    We crossed the state line into Minnesota to indulge at the infamous Blue Moose.

    The food was as warm and inviting as the restaurant’s cozy atmosphere.

    I felt like part of something bigger watching families and friends gather for delicious meals, sharing stories and laughter.

    I could easily see how the Blue Moose has become a local icon.

    We attended an incredible concert at the Ralph Engelstad Arena, and let me tell you, it was the perfect intimate setting!

    The energy of the crowd was contagious, and the acoustics were so crisp that I felt like each note was played just for me.

    There’s something special about enjoying live music in a venue that feels so connected to the community.

    After all that excitement, we checked into the C’Mon Inn, and what a delightful spot it was!

    The soothing hot tub melted away all our stress, setting the scene for a peaceful night’s sleep.

    Floating there, I couldn’t help but reflect on how exploring Grand Forks was such a rewarding experience, one that went far beyond mere shopping.

    My advice: take a trip to Grand Forks not just for retail therapy, but for the rich experiences waiting to be uncovered!

    There’s an entire world of magic outside the shopping centers, and I, Bob the Rubber Duck, can assure you: you won’t be disappointed.

    Dumoulin Church Marker and Cemetery – North Dakota

    Bob here to share an interesting discovery from just across the Canadian border in North Dakota: The Dumoulin Church Marker and Cemetery!

    My humans have driven past this historic site countless times. This time, I quacked for them to stop and take a look.

    And boy, am I glad they did!

    The Dumoulin Church Marker commemorates the first church built in the Northwestern US in the 1800s.

    The church was a beacon of hope and community for the early settlers who made this rugged land their home.

    Every Sunday, they trekked to gather in fellowship.

    It was named after Father Dumoulin, a noted priest who played a significant role in serving the local Catholic community.

    He offered spiritual guidance to those who ventured into the untamed wilderness.

    Over time, the church faced challenges, including a fire that led to its abandonment in the 1940s.

    What makes this marker special is not just its historical significance, but also the cemetery where many of the earliest pioneers now rest.

    Here lie the remains of those who forged lives in this vast landscape.

    They faced hardships and triumphs alike.

    It’s a peaceful place, filled with stories waiting to be told.

    The Dumoulin Church Marker and Cemetery stand as testaments to resilience and community spirit.

    It’s a beautiful reminder of the past, allowing us all to reflect on the sacrifices made by those before us.

  • Bike Rally 2026 – Sturgis, South Dakota

    Bike Rally 2026 – Sturgis, South Dakota

    What a year it has been, and I am here to share all the thrilling details of my escapade at the legendary Sturgis Bike Rally in South Dakota for 2026!

    My human buddy decided on a whirlwind three-day trip with the Support Biker Crew, and let me tell you, it was a wild ride!

    Goldie, my trusty Goldwing companion, couldn’t make it this time, so my human took a bold jump onto the exciting new steed: Outlaw, a dazzling blue Harley Fat Boy.

    He kept Outlaw under wraps as a surprise for the crew.

    He couldn’t wait to see their faces when they realized that the Goldwing guy had gone rogue on a Harley!

    Sonny and Angie’s jaws dropped when they spotted that Manitoba license plate beneath Outlaw!

    They thought my human had pulled a fast one by switching plates! But alas, poor Goldie was left at home.

    After everyone had their giggles about the “switcheroo,” we dove right into the heart of the Sturgis Bike Rally.

    First up was the annual Support Bikers crew lunch at One Eyed Jacks, a biker bar that has been rocking for years.

    The place was buzzing with laughter and stories as everyone reconnected and got into the spirit of Bike Week.

    The food? Simply perfect and just what we needed to kick off this epic adventure!

    Once fueled up, we zipped over to the Buffalo Chip to rev up for the annual parade.

    Sonny and Angie Badger led the charge like the rock stars they are, and I was perched on Outlaw, soaking in all the thrilling vibes.

    The energy was contagious, and my little duck heart couldn’t have been happier!

    Engines roaring, flags flying, and the crowd cheering with excitement, we all made our way to the stage area of the Buffalo Chip!

    After a day of people-watching and general revelry, my human decided to call it a night.

    The next day we were off to tackle the amazing Sturgis area bike roads!

    Spearfish Canyon

    Riding Outlaw was a whole new ball game. Comfort? Maybe not so much. Fun? Absolutely! It was a quackers experience that I wouldn’t trade for the world!

    With a belly full of excitement, we waddled our way downtown Sturgis to mingle with the sea of fellow bikers who had come from near and far to share in the festivities.

    The streets were a riot of colours and sounds!

    Motorcycles everywhere, bustling restaurants bursting with energy, and shops filled to the brim with souvenirs.

    Perfect for a little duck like me to squawk about!

    You won’t believe it, but I even made a new “bad duck” riding buddy!

    We’ll be carving up the roads together, no doubt about it.

    Now, onto day three, we swam our way back to the Buffalo Chip for the Content Creators meetup.

    Creative humans buzzing with laughter, playing games, and raising glasses to celebrate their wild imaginations.

    It was the kind of energy that even a rubber duck like me could get behind!

    Everyone was soaking up the fun and camaraderie, and I felt right at home.

    After another action-packed day, my human and I decided to call it a night early. We needed our beauty rest for the long ride home the next day.

    With a few final tweaks to their Harleys, Sonny and Angie headed South back to Florida, grinning from ear to ear after another unforgettable Sturgis Bike Rally.

    As for us, we hopped onto Outlaw, pointed him north to Winnipeg, and let out a big quack of joy!

    Renewed bike fever, some aches from the adventure and great memories filled my rubber heart.

    Sturgis, thank you for the hospitality; see you next year!

    Support Bikers MOTO-Meet-up and Parade – Sturgis, South Dakota

    It’s me, Bob, your favourite biker rubber duck, and I’ve just taken a plunge into the exhilarating world of the 2026 Support Bikers Moto Meet-Up and Parade at the legendary Buffalo Chip in Sturgis, South Dakota!

    Let me tell you, the opening parade for this year’s Sturgis Bike Rally was nothing short of spectacular!

    Now, let’s talk about the Buffalo Chip, a true biker’s playground!

    Spanning a whopping 600 acres, it’s brimming with lively campgrounds, fantastic venues, and a vibe that’s just electric.

    I can’t get enough of floating around, soaking up the adrenaline and joy that radiates from every corner.

    It’s like being in a giant, happy bubble of biker camaraderie!

    At the Support Bikers Moto Meet-Up, I had an absolute blast mingling with fellow enthusiasts.

    We swapped stories, struck silly poses for selfies, and created memories that will last a lifetime!

    A special shoutout to the incredible soul who won the 50/50 raffle; his generosity in donating those winnings back to the Wrecked Rider Fund was heartwarming and truly embodies the spirit of our community.

    It’s moments like these that remind us of the bonds we share as bikers!

    When the parade kicked off, the excitement was contagious!

    Imagine an insane lineup of motorcycles revving their engines, each one more impressive than the last. The roar of the bikes was like music to my rubber ears!

    Then came the Wall of Sound bus, cranking tunes that were so powerful I thought even the local wildlife might start doing the cha-cha! You have to love a good beat!

    And then, hold onto your helmets for a spin-out demonstration that left the crowd gasping in awe! Watching those bikes cut loose was nothing short of thrilling.

    Unfortunately, my human had to dash off before the legendary David Lee Roth took the stage, but I made sure to soak up every last bit of those good vibes.

    Whether you’re a seasoned rider or just dipping your toes into the motorcycle scene, the 2026 Support Bikers Moto Meet-Up and parade is the ultimate way to kick off the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally!

    Just picture it: the incredible history, the vibrant energy, and the sense of family that fills the air.

    It’s an experience that no one should miss!

  • African Lion Safari – Hamilton, Ontario

    African Lion Safari – Hamilton, Ontario

    Today, get ready for my quacking about the amazing adventure at the African Lion Safari in Hamilton, Ontario!

    My human friends were excited as we pulled up to the entrance; imagine a safari in Canada!

    I couldn’t help but feel a little jealous that I couldn’t join them; no pets allowed.

    Guess they were concerned I would scare the animals?

    Or more likely, it was for my safety, to avoid meeting my fate in the lion area.  Either way, it was a good idea to sit this one out.

    As my humans drove through the park, they got a wildlife experience like no other.

    Imagine cruising along in your car, surrounded by the sounds of nature and the thrill of spotting majestic animals up close.

    From the comfort of their seats, they encountered all sorts of animals!

    Giraffes basking in the sun

    Zebras with their bold black and white stripes

    Bison taking an afternoon break

    The safari spans over 750 acres, offering a drive-through experience that showcases more than just the big cats.

    My humans were delighted to see a herd of elk gracefully grazing!

    It did not bother them at all to stop traffic to parade to their favourite watering hole.

    Then there are the gigantic rhinos!

    My humans felt very comfortable knowing striped security trucks were nearby, should those big boys decide my human’s vehicle was their plaything.

    The baboons got up close and personal as they scooted over the human’s vehicle to get to the tour bus right behind. 

    Curiosity got the better of one of these nimble creatures as he peered into the vehicle.

    It’s incredible to think that such a diverse collection of wildlife exists right here in Ontario, Canada!

    One of the highlights was undoubtedly the Lion Pride section, where the magnificent African lions roam.

    Watching these powerful creatures is a breathtaking experience that truly makes you appreciate nature’s beauty.

    My humans shared stories of their encounters, their faces lighting up with the thrill of seeing so many different animals in a setting that allows them to roam as they would in the wild in harmony with one another.

    Aside from the drive-through adventure, the park offers various attractions, including live shows that educate and entertain visitors about these stunning animals.

    The elephant and bird shows are huge hits for humans, who enjoy learning about the incredible talents and unique traits of different species.

    Even though I couldn’t be there in person, I felt part of the adventure listening to their enthusiastic recount.

    While the humans explored and made memories, I basked in the knowledge that the African Lion Safari is a unique attraction that shares the wonders of wildlife while promoting conservation and awareness.

    Who knows? Maybe one day they’ll open the gates for charming, rubbery ducks like me!

    Until then, I’ll keep dreaming of those lions and zebras!

    Maid of the Mist – Niagara Falls, Ontario

    Rolling along the highway from Ottawa to Winnipeg, I could feel the excitement in the air.

    Today we are visiting Niagara Falls, Ontario, where we have a special day planned on the Maid of the Mist!

    That’s right!

    We are leaving the safety of the upper deck of the viewing area to view the falls.

    We are booked to get up close and personal with the falls on a Maid of the Mist tour!

    I can hardly contain myself as the humans ready themselves in the stylish red ponchos. We excitedly head down to the water level of the thundering falls to board the boat.

    Much to my shock, my humans tuck me into their backpack.

    I may fall in the water on the Maid of the Mist tour?!?

    I mean, I’m a DUCK!

    Oh well, I can hear the roar of the water from the falls through the backpack.

    The mini human jumped with joy, feeling the rush of wind and mist as the boat approached Horseshoe Falls.

    All the humans on board gasp in amazement as they take in the sheer power of the water cascading down.

    A dazzling display of nature’s artistry.

    From the boat, the view is spectacular, the falling water sending up sprays that dance in the sunlight.

    As they float closer, the laughter and excitement bubble out of them.

    I mean, what’s not to love about feeling the mist on your face and being surrounded by such breathtaking beauty?

    They capture every moment by taking pictures and selfies that they will cherish for a lifetime.

    Oh, how I want out of the backpack, to take in the magic of these moments.

    I long to join the throngs of humans awe-struck by the grandeur of the Falls.

    Although I missed the thrill of the Maid of the Mist, my humans can’t stop talking about their experience.

    When I finally escape the bag, it is obvious that my humans had a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

    One day, I’ll make my own splash on the Maid of the Mist at Niagara Falls.

    Until then, I will live vicariously through their stories of adventure and continue on my journey.

    Gizmos Wax Hands – Niagara Falls, Ontario

    Bob here to tell you about an absolutely splashtastic experience my humans had at Gizmos Wax Hands in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

    If you’re looking for some quacking good fun, you’ve got to check this place out!

    My humans snagged a pass to explore Clifton Hills that is chock-full of exciting adventures.

    They were focused on immortalizing their visit with the wax hands they had heard so much about.

    Enter Gizmos is a treasure trove of cool stuff! 

    Fashionable t-shirts to quirky souvenirs and even the new craze of squishy stress relief dumplings!

    But the pièce de résistance? The chance to create their very own wax hand sculptures!

    Now that’s something you don’t see every day!

    Gizmos has turned wax hand creation into a science.

    First, my humans picked their favourite colours and poses for their wax hands, and let me tell you, the excitement was palpable! 

    Unfortunately, my wings could not be dipped!

    The staff at Gizmos were superheroes, guiding them through the entire dipping process.

    My humans told me the sensation was incredible; it felt like magic dipping their hands in gooey warmth!

    Then the skilled team carefully removed the creation from the hand,

    placed it in an icy-cold bath to harden,

    and trimmed away the excess wax.

    After that, they let their creative juices flow by working with the team on design choices to jazz up their wax hands.

    While the design team worked their magic, my humans went off to explore Clifton Hills.

    They returned after about an hour of eager anticipation to collect their masterpieces.

    The joy on their faces was priceless!

    Gizmos Wax Hands is a must-visit. It’s the perfect blend of fun, creativity, and a splash of adventure!

  • Great Canadian Midway – Niagara Falls, Ontario

    Great Canadian Midway – Niagara Falls, Ontario

    Bob here to fill you in on my fun adventure at the Great Canadian Midway in the Clifton Hill area of Niagara Falls, Ontario!

    Over 12 million people visit the Niagara Falls area every year, and I would imagine many of these excited folks flock to the Great Canadian Midway to soak in the excitement!

    With a whopping 70,000 square feet of endless fun just a block away from the majestic Falls, this place is like a wonderland. 

    As I waddled through the Midway, the laughter-filled environment enthused me.

    Everyone played or cheered for others as they played the thrilling games.

    My mini human was eager to play and win tickets for fantastic prizes.

    Although I couldn’t play, I was elated just being part of the fun!

    My humans took on the challenge at Odin’s Hammer Strike, testing their strength by swinging a mallet as hard as they could at a target!

    I found myself sitting a wee bit too close to the target.

    Every time my human swung that giant hammer, I ducked for cover!

    Tic Shaq Toe was another highlight of our visit.

    My mini human was a basketball superstar, tossing the ball expertly into the slots to line up three neon blue “O’s”.

    The dazzling lights above us sparkled when he dropped the ball in the top right corner and shouted I WIN!

    Then, we stumbled upon the Pirate Spin Me Wheel!

    At first, it seemed a bit tricky, but once we figured it out, it was a blast!

    My mini human just had to grab the wheel and give it a hearty spin.

    The anticipation was exhilarating as he hoped for 1000 tickets!

    He didn’t quite get the jackpot, but he had fun winning 50 more tickets toward his prize.

    With over 300 games available to play, the fun was endless.

    Just when I thought we were done, we came across a game that caught my attention.

    That’s right, My Little Ducks claw machine, where my humans could win me a new friend!

    With some patience and a little skill, my mini human expertly guided the claw and snagged a precious little green buddy for me.

    I couldn’t have asked for a better day!

    The Great Canadian Midway is an arcade lover’s dream, filled with interactive experiences and games that light up everyone’s face.

    Even though I could not play the games, I had an absolutely fantastic time cheering from the sidelines and sharing in all the fun.

    Thank you, Great Canadian Midway, for adding extra excitement to our Niagara Falls visit.

    Bonnechere Caves – Eganville, Ontario

    Bob, ready to fill you in on my adventure through the enchanting Bonnechere Caves in Eganville, Ontario!

    Get ready to dive into a world where history meets adventure as we explore these remarkable underground wonders together!

    It is hard to imagine that over 400 million years ago, the area was under a vast, tropical sea!

    These incredible limestone caves formed during that time, and they were discovered in the 1950s. Since then, adventurers and history lovers have flocked here, eager to uncover the secrets that lie beneath their feet.

    When you arrive, get ready for some serious fun!

    Hop on a guided tour, and let the friendly guides lead you through the stunning caverns.

    You’ll be amazed by the unique rock formations.

    Don’t forget your camera to capture memories in this subterranean paradise!  

    As we floated along, our eyes were peeled for some cool features!

    The stalactites and stalagmites are like Mother Nature’s sculptures whispering stories from eons past. It’s like stepping into a magical world!

    The caves are home to mesmerizing rock formations. My humans loved the dazzling calcite crystals that shimmered in the light.

    Oh, and let’s not forget about the critters!

    While my humans and I didn’t spot any bats hiding in the shadows, we did discover a little frog hiding in the shadows. Who knew the caves were such a vibrant ecosystem?

    When you climb the stairs back out of the caves, you can enjoy the nearby hiking trails that meander through the landscape.

    Or you can enjoy a picnic lunch with nature as your backdrop.

    Before you swim away, swing by the visitor center!

    It’s full of fascinating insights and historical tidbits that will make your adventure even more memorable.

    Whether you’re a history buff, a nature lover, or just looking for a splash of fun, the Bonnechere Caves promise a rewarding experience with nature.

    Amethyst Mine Panorama – Thunder Bay, Ontario

    Bob the Rubber Duck here, to share my latest adventure at the Amethyst Mine Panorama in Ontario!

    As we cruised along the highway outside of Thunder Bay, signs for Amethyst Mine Panorama started popping up.

    My humans couldn’t resist the temptation, so off we went up the winding road that felt like a magical path leading us to a treasure trove!

    When we arrived, the boulders on display with amethyst veins were impressive!

    The friendly staff at the Welcome Center shared stories about the mining process and the history of the area.

    They brought the place to life and helped my human choose a special sculpted amethyst treasure to bring home!

    Amethyst, the gorgeous purple variety of quartz, is the official gemstone of Ontario, and this mine has been a rich source.

    Did you know that amethyst symbolizes deep love, happiness, humility, sincerity and wealth?

    Maybe I should get an amethyst collar!

    Our tour guide deepened our understanding of the mine’s history and the process of harvesting amethysts. 

    Amethyst Mine Panorama has a captivating history that dates back to 1949, when mining began in the area.

    Can you believe that people have been digging here for these stunning purple gems for over 75 years?! 

    It was fascinating to learn just how these beautiful crystals take shape over millions of years.

    Best of all, the tour guide provided us with the chance to dig for our own treasures, so we got our hands and wings a little dirty.

    After a bit of hard work and some serious digging, we struck purple!

    We walked away with four pounds of sparkling amethyst to show for our efforts.

    Amethyst Mine Panorama is one of the largest amethyst mines in North America.

    Every moment spent at Amethyst Mine Panorama was worth the little detour.

    The blend of history, adventure, and the thrill of mining made for an unforgettable stop on our road trip.

    I’ll never forget that stunning landscape and the gems I mined myself.

    It was truly a treasure hunt that added a special sparkle to our journey!

  • Terry Fox Memorial – Thunder Bay, Ontario

    Terry Fox Memorial – Thunder Bay, Ontario

    Bob here to dive into the inspiring story of Terry Fox!

    Terry Fox was a true Canadian hero, known for his incredible determination and spirit.

    After losing his leg to cancer at the age of 18, he set out on a courageous journey to run across Canada for cancer research.

    His remarkable journey – the Marathon of Hope – has inspired people since 1980!

    Terry ran an astounding average of 42 kilometers (26.25 miles) a day.

    His journey inspired hope and raised awareness. An impact that would ripple through time.

    Terry’s run ended far too soon when cancer forced him to stop in Thunder Bay after 143 days and an epic 5,373 kilometers (3358 miles).

    He achieved his goal of raising one dollar for every Canadian in 1980 – a whopping $24 million!

    Terry Fox’s legacy continues to flourish.

    Since his heroic efforts, the Marathon of Hope has raised over $1 billion for cancer research, supporting countless lives and breakthroughs in treatment.

    Every year, thousands of people participate in the Terry Fox Run, celebrating his spirit and commitment to finding a cure.

    It’s a true testament to Terry’s impact that his name continues to inspire future generations.

    We are reminded that with courage and determination, we can make a difference.

    On a recent road trip through Thunder Bay, Ontario, I stopped by a memorial dedicated to Terry.

    This beautiful spot features a statue of Terry in mid-stride, capturing his essence of perseverance and inviting everyone to remember his incredible legacy.

    What a wonderful tribute!

    A space to come together to reflect on his journey, and the collective strength of those affected by cancer

    Just thinking about the lives changed and the hope he’s inspired makes my little rubber heart swell!

    Let’s take a moment to honour and thank Terry Fox for his unwavering spirit and the lives he has touched throughout his journey.

    Today I’m just as excited to share one of the most fantastic places I’ve quacked about: The Big Apple in Colborne, Ontario!

    A big splash of fun awaits you, thanks to Bobber Steve, who submitted The Big Apple for the Get Your Bob On Contest and won week 31!

    This wonderful landmark is a must-visit, and I can’t wait to tell you why!

    Imagine riding along US Highway 191 in Southern Utah when you come across a colossal sandstone cliff, its face etched with the name “Hole N’ The Rock” in bold, striking letters.

    This one-of-a-kind home isn’t just any abode; it’s a stunning 5,000-square-foot masterpiece carved into the rock itself!

    Now, let me take you back in time, all the way to the 1940s. It was here that the incredible journey of Albert Christensen began.

    With tireless passion and relentless determination, Albert and his brother Leo hollowed out a modest cave, which would ultimately evolve into this expansive and quirky residence.

    Can you imagine it?

    Over 12 long years, Albert worked his magic, using hand-drilling and blasting techniques to excavate 50,000 cubic feet of sandstone.

    His hard work culminated in a wondrous 14-room home, complete with an impressive 65-foot chimney and even a bathtub carved right into the rock!

    By 1952, the Christensen family was all settled in, living in a one-of-a-kind sanctuary that embraced both history and ingenuity.

    But the adventure doesn’t end there!

    After Albert’s passing in 1957, his devoted wife Gladys took the reins, keeping the dream alive by welcoming visitors to explore their extraordinary home.

    With a spirit as vibrant as the Utah desert itself, she opened the doors to holiday travellers like us, offering guided tours rich in stories and charm.

    Now, let’s waddle on over to the delightful petting zoo!

    This haven boasts a collection of enchanted animals, where my fellow travellers can rub elbows with camels, bison, and playful goats, each with their own unique personalities.

    Debbie told me that she shared a moment with a miniature donkey named Harry and marvelled at the sight of exotic birds flitting about.

    It’s a charming slice of farm life right next to the rock, and I certainly wouldn’t mind a little feed time myself!

    Of course, every great attraction needs a shopping component, and Hole N’ The Rock has that covered with its marvellous gift shop and trading post.

    Here, you can snag quirky souvenirs, Native American crafts, and, my personal favourite, rubber duck-themed memorabilia (wink).

    With sculptures by artist Lyle Nichols dotting the landscape, it’s a treasure trove just waiting to be explored.

    In fact, if you didn’t know, the name Komarno comes straight from Ukrainian, meaning “lots of mosquitoes.”

    Nestled about an hour’s drive north of Winnipeg, Komarno is a cozy little community bursting with warmth and charm.

    Imagine a place where residents proudly embrace their buzzing neighbours.

    Instead of running from them!

    The statue doesn’t just sit pretty; it also doubles as a wind vane, spinning around to show off its playful spirit each time a breeze blows through.

    What an exhilarating day as my humans and I hop onto Goldie, ready to set sail on an adventure to the world-famous Narcisse Snake Dens in Manitoba!

    Nestled about 113 kilometres north of our home in Winnipeg, the Narcisse Snake Dens is the ultimate hotspot for these charming reptiles.

    They’ve got quite the ingenious hibernation setup within the limestone that keeps them snug and toasty!

    These reptiles have Manitoba winters figured out!

    Long before temperatures head below freezing and humans don their parkas, the snakes are snuggled far below the snow!

    On our way to the Narcisse Snake Dens, we spotted a giant statue of two garter snakes in nearby Inwood.

    Always eager to explore, we made a quick stop to snap some selfies with Sam and Sara, the stars of the snake statue.

    Who could resist a photo op like that?

    Plus, it was a fun way to learn more about the slinky stars of our upcoming show!

    The Narcisse Snake Dens grounds are immaculately maintained, easy to navigate for all, and educational for all inquisitive ducks and humans.

    Beautiful picnic areas invite families to relax in the sunshine, surrounded by the delightful sounds of nature.

    What a perfect setting to prepare for our wild escapade!

    The excitement really ramps up around here in the spring!

    As the temperatures rise, over 100,000 garter snakes burst forth from their underground dens, creating a jaw-dropping scene.

    These slender beauties sport striking stripes and vibrant colours that are not only eye-catching but also help them thrive in the ecosystem.

    But don’t fret! These delightful red-sided garter snakes are friendly and non-venomous. With their bright yellow stripes and eye-catching red markings, they glide across the landscape with such flair!

    They’re nature’s pest controllers, gobbling up earthworms, slugs, and little insects to keep everything balanced!

    The ground shivers and shakes as these lively snakes emerge.

    The male snakes show off their moves as the females arrive, creating those fascinating “mating balls.” Imagine dozens of eager males zooming around a single female, talk about a lively dance floor!

    As spring progresses, the female garter snakes produce their eggs, although guess what?

    They don’t actually lay the eggs; they hatch right inside their bodies, according to the informative signs at Narcisse. How cool is that?

    After the romantic festivities wind down, it’s time for our scaly friends to hunt for their favourite snacks, like frogs and worms, and travel the area! 

    Fun Fact, some of the females have tracked a whopping 17 kilometres from the dens!

    As autumn approaches, the snakes return to their limestone dens for a cozy eight-month hibernation, only to repeat this amazing journey the following year.

    While the snakes are snoozing during those colder months, humans can enjoy the Narcisse Snake Dens site to experience colourful leaves in fall and the frosty beauty of winter.

    Perfect for serene nature walks and fall family picnics!

    Then, when Spring arrives, so too does the garter snake extravaganza!

    Narcisse Snake Dens showcases the wonderful connections between geology, climate, and our animal friends.

    And the great cycle of life continues!

    Now, Fredericksburg may not be Amy’s hometown, but it sure holds a special place in her heart.

    Founded back in 1846, this delightful town is awash with German heritage.

    The German culture permeates every nook and cranny.

    Bratwurst, schnitzel, and stunning architecture makes you feel like you’ve been magically transported to Europe without leaving Texas!

    The heartbeat of Fredericksburg is undoubtedly its vibrant Main Street.

    Picture a delightful stretch packed with unique shops and cozy boutiques, all devoid of franchises or chains in the National Historic District?!

    Explore handcrafted treasures, bask in the sweet scents wafting from bakeries, and, of course, sip on exquisite wines from the surrounding Hill Country vineyards.

    I mean, who could resist that?

    One of Amy’s favourite spots for a sip is Safari Winery.

    This place has family roots dating back to the mid-1800s, and they bring in fantastic wines from around the globe.

    But wait, there’s more!

    In a fun twist, they’ve recently added a kangaroo exhibit.

    Let your server know you want to see these hopping cuties, and prepare for a delightful show as they play and rest.

    What a surprising treat!

    Of course, you can’t help but think of food when you are sharing a glass of great wine.

    Amy’s top spot is Friedhelm’s Bavarian Inn, where you can get your fill of schnitzel and spaetzle or, of course, genuine Texas fare.

    On occasion, Amy books one of the themed rooms at the Inn when she and her husband go on a weekend retreat.

    What a romantic time they must have had, checking out the various themes and relaxing in the jacuzzi tub.

    Other times, when they go with a group, they choose vacation rentals.

    One in particular she raves about is the Austin Street Retreat.  For over 100 years, this retreat was a family dwelling, and the barn even served as a jailhouse for a while. 

    It’s transformed over the years into a luxurious rental that effortlessly blends history with modern comforts.

    Each suite is a cozy little nook wrapped in nostalgia, connected by enchanting courtyards that whisper tales of yesteryears!

    Fredericksburg is snuggled right in the heart of the breathtaking Texas Hill Country.

    In a remarkable gesture of gratitude for Canada’s role in the liberation of the Netherlands, Princess Juliana donated 100,000 tulip bulbs to the city of Ottawa.

    The vibrant blooms, symbols of peace and friendship, were a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful Canadian people.

    Can you imagine the colourful scenes these lovely tulips create? It is like a rainbow splashed across the landscape!

    Fast forward to today, and the Canadian Tulip Festival is now a dazzling annual celebration.

    They took time out of their busy schedule to design, build and install this community landmark.

    Now, let’s talk about the buzz in Nackawic.

    According to George, this axe isn’t just a big hunk of metal; it’s a proud symbol of the community’s spirit!

    For generations, forestry has woven itself into the fabric of this town, and The Big Axe stands tall as a reminder of that rich heritage.

    This monster of steel tips the scales at a jaw-dropping 55 tons and towers at a staggering 15 meters (49 feet)!

    Yes, indeed, it’s like having a giant lumberjack keeping watch over the river!

    Built in 1991, when Nackawic earned the shiny title of the Forestry Capital of Canada, this landmark is a tribute to the hardworking folks who have shaped the region.

    Now, let’s dive into the juicy details!

    The axe head is a whopping 7 meters (23 feet)  wide!

    And that big ol’ concrete stump it’s sitting on is a massive 10 meters (33 feet) in diameter!

    In fact, that stump doubles as a stage for all sorts of community shindigs, making it a buzzing hub of fun and festivities.

    But here’s the real treasure: tucked away inside the axe head is a time capsule!

    Gregory’s first visit to Neversink Cave filled his heart with wonder as he beheld the enchanting entrance surrounded by vibrant greenery.

    But there was a flicker of yearning in his eyes. The cave’s depths felt like an elusive mystery, daring him to explore, but he lacked the skills to take the plunge.

    He stood there, gazing at the magnificent opening adorned with stalactites that hung like nature’s own sparkling chandeliers, yearning for adventure.

    With the fire of determination lighting up his spirit, Gregory decided it was time to take the plunge, not physically at first, but by gearing up for the ultimate adventure!

    He rallied some friends who shared his passion for exploration, and together, they dove headfirst into an exciting training quest!

    They honed their cave exploring skills in preparation to conquer the Neversink Cave!

    When Gregory returned to Neversink Cave two years later, his excitement bounced off the walls!

    With a heart filled with anticipation and excitement bubbling in his feathers, he made his way back to that stunning entrance.

    This isn’t just your average tourist spot; it’s a celebration of art, faith, and relentless dedication carved beautifully in stone!

    Cory has visited the Grotto many times over the years.

    He says that each time he returns, he discovers something he missed on previous visits.

    Let’s dive into the heartwarming tale of how this impressive shrine came to life.

    The Grotto of Redemption is considered the lifetime achievement of Father Paul Dobberstein.

    Father Dobberstein, a determined German immigrant and priest, made a promise to the Virgin Mary.

    If she blessed him with recovery from a serious illness, he would construct a shrine to honour her.

    Father Dobberstein recovered!

    And in 1912, he set out on a 42-year quest to gather rocks and stones to fulfill his vow.

    The Grotto of Redemption is a sprawling complex featuring nine breathtaking grottoes. Each portrays pivotal scenes from the life of Jesus Christ.

    As the world’s largest man-made grotto, this enchanting site is often affectionately dubbed the “eighth wonder of the world.”

    But The Grotto of Redemption isn’t just about its impressive dimensions.

    Stunning mosaics made from an extraordinary collection of minerals, fossils, and gemstones bring a unique element to the construction.

    Acclaimed for a value exceeding $4.3 million, these vibrant materials tell stories of hope and faith. In addition, they create a mosaic that sparkles in the sunlight and draws in over 100,000 visitors annually.

    The story behind the Grotto is as inspiring as the intricate scenes it displays.

    Father Dobberstein began using a wealth of minerals and precious and semi-precious stones to weave an unbreakable narrative of humanity’s fall and Christ’s redemption.

    Picture a spectacular display crafted from petrified wood, malachite, agate, and a whole host of other dazzling stones perfectly placed in concrete.

    Alongside Father Dobberstein was his invaluable right-hand man, Matt Szerensce. He became his devoted collaborator in this ambitious undertaking.

    Their combined knowledge and tireless labour transformed the Grotto into an iconic masterpiece. It covers an area about the size of an entire city block.

    Can you imagine the dedication it took? These two poured their hearts and souls into this divine creation!

    The Grotto of Redemption continues to inspire countless souls.

    Its beauty and the faith behind it provide a backdrop for reflection for those who explore its attributes.
