Bob here, ready to quack about The Copper Kitchen.

What an unforgettable stop on our way from Lincoln, Nebraska, to Apache Junction, Arizona.
We hit the road from Lincoln at 2:30 am. As you can imagine, the belly rumbles started chirping after a few hours.
We turned to our trusty companion, Google. It suggested a delightful little detour to La Junta, Colorado, to a gem of a restaurant called The Copper Kitchen.
Trust me, folks, this was a quacking good idea!

The Copper Kitchen came under new ownership about 18 months ago. This happened when the 90-year-old gentleman owner decided it was time to hang up his apron and retire.

Fortunately for us, rubber ducks who love a good meal, he passed the baton to new owners. These owners are anything but strangers to the kitchen!

The new proprietors include a lovely lady with deep ties to the place. Her uncle started the restaurant over 40 years ago!
From spending her youthful days serving pancakes and pouring coffee for her Uncle?

To carrying on the legacy, she ensures every guest leaves with a full belly and a smile!
Walking into The Copper Kitchen feels like stepping right into Grandma’s cozy kitchen.

The friendly staff welcomed us with open arms.
The warmth in the air made us want to settle in for a long chat.

Even though my humans and I had been on the road for over eight hours by this time, we zeroed in on the breakfast menu.

One of my humans went for a hearty classic: biscuits and gravy.
The delicious gravy, filled with delightful morsels of sausage, was spread over homemade biscuits.
It was delicious and filling, perfect fuel for the continuing journey!

The other human, perhaps still in a snoozy haze, went for a plate of crunchy hash browns. This was paired with crispy bacon and a steaming cup of tea.
Oh, that tea was like a warm hug on a chilly morning!
The atmosphere, a delightful blend of nostalgia and joy, made The Copper Kitchen a perfect pit stop.
Not just somewhere to grab a bite, but a little piece of home to cherish.

Thanks to Google for steering us to this delightful diner where folks have frequented from all corners of the globe.

We excitedly added a pin for Winnipeg, Manitoba, on the map of past visitors.
The Copper Kitchen left us with full bellies, grins from flipper to flipper, and hearts warmed by the incredible folks who keep this legacy alive.
Sometimes the best adventures are the ones that take you off the beaten path!
NEVER MISS A
