Welcome to the unique and sunny shores of Key West, Florida! As your guide, I’ve been exploring this vibrant island, immersing myself in its rich history, delectable treats, and awe-inspiring views. Join me as we navigate through the captivating past and present of this tropical paradise!

Key West is a treasure trove of history, having been home to the Calusa and Tequesta tribes long before European explorers arrived.

Officially established in 1822 by John Simonton, the island’s strategic potential was quickly realized. The 19th century saw prosperity through the wrecking industry, and Key West later thrived with cigar manufacturing and fishing. By the 1900s, the island’s charm had attracted artists and writers, making it a cultural hub.
My humans did not budget enough time for this fantastic destination, but I was still able to spend time at a few excellent venues, which I highly recommend:
Southernmost Point Buoy: A vibrant and lively concrete marker proudly declaring, “90 Miles to Cuba.”

Southernmost Point Bar: A fantastic stop with a refreshing drink menu and stunning views of the sunset, it’s the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring.

Willie T’s: A lively bar bursting with personality and known for its mouthwatering dishes and festive vibe.

Key Lime Pie Co.: A must-visit venue to indulge in the unique local cuisine, especially the delicious key lime pie made with fresh local limes! It’s a treat for your taste buds and a true reflection of Key West’s culinary charm.

The journey to Key West is just as stunning as the island itself, particularly when you travel over the magnificent 7 Mile Bridge. This engineering marvel connects the Florida Keys, offering incredible views of the sparkling turquoise waters below. As I floated along, I couldn’t help but admire the bridge stretching into the horizon, symbolizing adventure and the connection between these beautiful islands.

Today, Key West is a vibrant blend of culture, history, and natural beauty. It offers a kaleidoscope of colorful festivals, a lively nightlife, and scenic spots that are perfect for relaxation and exploration. The bustling art scene and the community’s dedication to preserving its unique identity ensure that both history and fun thrive together, creating an exciting atmosphere for tourists.
