    Bob here with a quacking good tale to share from my recent splash at Luna, your neighbourhood kitchen!

    This delightful gem first opened its doors as a coffee shop in 1993. It has since transformed into a haven for foodies, right in the heart of Fargo, North Dakota.

    Not only do they still serve up coffee that’ll tickle your taste buds, but they’ve also dived into the realms of gourmet cheeses.

    Luna is owned by a duo, made up of a celebrated chef and a wine curator.

    The passion they bring to the plate is absolutely palpable!

    It’s like a magical potion that turns the dining experience into a joyous celebration of community spirit and quality ingredients.

    As a rubber duck with a flair for the fabulous, I was positively thrilled to be part of the adventure!

    As we waddled in, we were immediately met with the tantalizing aromas wafting through the air, accompanied by the laughter of a group of ladies celebrating their friendship. What a scene!

    The first thing you see is a delightful coffee and tea menu, but hang tight.

    Just around the corner is a hidden treasure: a fully stocked bar featuring fabulous wines and a great selection of craft beers.

    It’s like discovering a secret pond full of ducky delights!

    Now, let’s quack about lunch!

    One of my humans wasn’t feeling too peckish, so he ordered the soup of the day.

    A luscious red pepper and corn concoction danced on the palate with a perfect kick of spice.

    He paired it with a plate of crispy, tangy pickles that complemented the soup like a breeze on a summer day.

    Meanwhile, my other human boldly took the plunge into a bacon and tomato sandwich that flipped the traditional recipe on its head!

    We’re talking thick, smoky bacon and juicy tomatoes.

    Paired with untraditional ingredients, this ordinary meal turned into a savoury odyssey!

    But wait, there’s more!

    My human loves potatoes, so I she couldn’t resist the intriguing smoked potatoes seasoned with black garlic and herbs.

    Who would’ve thought to smoke potatoes?

    We’ll definitely be trying that back in Winnipeg – quack-tastic idea!

    But hold your feathers, the adventure didn’t end there!

    My humans couldn’t resist snagging a couple of Luna’s sensational cheeses to take home.

    They chose a creamy brie affectionately called “Little Lucy” and a variety of cheddar playfully named “Lucky Linda,” a sweet nod to my human friend.

    Those cheeses were so smooth and rich, they left us quacking for more long after the last bite was savored.

    As for the staff at Luna?

    They’re just as friendly as a flock of ducks in a pond: warm, welcoming, and brimming with enthusiasm for good food. The cozy ambiance, sprinkled with quirky décor, makes it the perfect spot for a legendary meal.

    You can practically feel the community spirit wrapping around you like a warm, fuzzy towel after a paddle in the pond!

    Today I’m flipping, flapping, and floating my way over to the sweetest spot in Fargo: Sandy’s Donuts!

    Get ready for a quack-tastic journey filled with scrumptious delights and a sprinkle of heartwarming history.

    Let’s take a cozy swim back to 1983 when Sandy’s Donuts first waddled into the scene.

    This family treasure has been spreading sugary happiness through its handcrafted treats for decades, and let me tell you, it’s a story that’ll make your beak twitch with joy!

    It all started with Sandy Ostlund, who, inspired by his wonderful mother, whipped up donut magic using a classic buttermilk recipe and a trusty cast-iron pan on a coal-burning stove.

    Just imagine the aroma wafting through the air. My feathers are fluffing up just thinking about it!

    Picture Sandy on his 52nd birthday, pondering his life’s next big leap.

    A good friend suggests opening a donut shop. With dreams of fluffy confections dancing like jellyfish in his mind, Sandy found a quaint bakery that was waiting for a sprinkle of magic.

    On September 13, 1983, Sandy and his delightful wife, Donna, opened their doors to a sugary wonderland. They were so busy that they even took naps in sleeping bags in the back room, now that’s dedication!

    Fast forward to 2002, when their son Mark dove into the delicious world of donuts.

    Together, they blended love and laughter into every batch, ensuring that each donut was crafted with a dollop of joy.

    In 2008, Sandy’s health took a little dip, but his legacy didn’t sink, it soared!

    In 2014, Sandy’s expanded to Downtown Fargo, and in 2019, the Osgood area got its own dose of donut magic.

    Mark kept the sprinkles flying and the dream alive!

    In 2022, the baton was passed to Jeff (Mark’s son).

    A true testament to family values to have a third generation stepping in to carry on the family legacy!

    He now leads the charge, ensuring every bite is filled with love and a sense of nostalgia!

    Today, Sandy’s Donuts brings smiles as far as Grand Forks and Detroit Lakes.

    Now, let’s dive into the 75 delicious flavours! The selections are practically dripping with drool-worthy goodness!

    Pro tip: arrive early! You’ll want to be there bright and early, because these pillowy delights disappear faster than you can say “quack-tastic!”

    Be sure to swing by the downtown location to snag a photo with the adorable Cave Era donut man.

    It’s the perfect spot to relax, share giggles, and indulge in tantalizing treats, just what a rubber ducky like me dreams of!

    And let’s not forget the incredible team at Sandy’s!

    From the general manager to every member of the cheerful crew at both locations, they welcomed us with warmth, making us feel right at home as soon as we waddled in.

    The team helped my humans choose from the remaining flavours, cheerfully apologizing for the limited selection so late in the day!

    Sandy’s has splashed from its humble beginnings into a donut powerhouse, with multiple locations and a whole fleet of delivery vehicles spreading sugary joy far and wide.

    It’s absolutely inspiring to see how, from a little idea sparked by Sandy’s job loss, there are now over 100 smiling faces serving up more than 10,000 donuts each day!

    So, gather your friends, family, or even your favourite rubber ducky and paddle your way to Sandy’s Donuts!

    With a rich history, heavenly flavours, cozy decor, and a fantastic team, it’s an experience guaranteed to leave you quacking with joy!

    In January 2025, I had the most fabulous experience at Acapulco Mexican Restaurant in Fargo, North Dakota. We couldn’t resist stopping by again for lunch on our road trip to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, in June.

    When it’s this spectacular, you have to dive in twice!

    We happened to visit on Father’s Day. The parking lot was packed, buzzing with families celebrating their amazing dads who were indulging in a delicious taste of Mexico. The atmosphere was not just electric, it was a full-blown fiesta!

    As we waddled through the door, it felt like a warm embrace from the Acapulco family. What thrilled me the most? My BOB sticker had become a shining star on display in a prime location!

    I nearly floated away with glee, feeling like a cherished member of the Acapulco family.

    Once again, we started with the never-ending bowl of homemade tortilla chips! Crunch-crunch, these crunchy delights are absolute perfection, dancing joyfully with zesty salsa! Each dip feels like a jumping cannonball into a glorious pool of flavour, and trust me, I know a thing or two about splashes!

    Then there was the array of meal choices!

    Both of my humans decided to savour the scrumptious Fajita Taco Salad. With one of them choosing beef, and the other splashing in with shrimp, neither had any regrets.

    The taco bowls were brimming with marinated grilled steak or juicy shrimp. Blended with a fresh veggie medley and a tangy dressing, making you lick your beak.

    Taco salads are high on my list, and let me tell ya, the Acapulco version floats right up to the top!

    Each bite? A fiesta carnival for the taste buds that had us bubbling with excitement!

    Acapulco isn’t just a place to munch!

    It’s an exhilarating fiesta of authentic Mexican culture that fills your belly and warms my rubber ducky heart! With a menu that includes a variety of tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and other Mexican delights, there’s something for every adventurous palate. The friendly service creates a vibe that’s impossible to resist!

    Bob here, ready to paddle you through a culinary adventure at the fabulous Acapulco Mexican Restaurant in Fargo, North Dakota!

    Ever since the Ramirez family opened their doors in 2015, they’ve been whipping up delightful Acapulco Mexican dishes at their Acapulco Mexican Restaurant. They also provide a warm, welcoming vibe that’s as cozy as a sunny beach on a perfect day.

    It’s like a little slice of Mexico right here in the Midwest!

    As soon as I floated into Acapulco, I was swept away by the vibrant colours and lively decor. Talk about a fiesta for the senses!

    The eye-popping murals and charming wooden accents made me feel like I had flapped my wings right into a celebration. 

    And oh, those catchy tunes drifting through the air? 

    They were like a gentle wave, setting a bubbly mood for a feathery good time with family or friends!

    Now, let’s dive into the food!

    First things first: those homemade tortilla chips in the never-ending bowl!

    Crunch-crunch, my dear friends, they are the epitome of crispy perfection, deliciously dancing with zesty salsa. Each dip is like a joyful cannonball into a fantastic pool of flavour!

    Feeling a bit hungrier? 

    Well, let me introduce you to the Fajita Taco Salad! 

    A vibrant tortilla bowl overflowing with marinated grilled steak, fresh veggies, and a drizzle of tangy dressing. 

    Each bite feels like a fiesta in your mouth—a quack-tastic celebration of flavours! 

    Taco salads rank high on my list, and I can confidently say the Acapulco version is swimming at the top!

    And for all you seafood lovers, you cannot miss the Seafood Enchilada! 

    Stuffed with shrimp, crab, and scallops—my floaty goodness! 

    It’s drenched in a creamy sauce, offering a delicious plunge into coastal flavours. 

    What a treat!

    Oh, and let’s give a big, feathery shout-out to the guacamole!  It’s so creamy and perfectly seasoned that it could easily steal the show! 

    With the right mix of avocado, tomatoes, lime, and cilantro, it’s the dream dip for those crunch-tastic chips. Or it serves as a fabulous topping for your main dishes.

    Acapulco shines not only because of its delicious food but also thanks to its fantastic staff!

    They greet you with warm smiles, making you feel like you’ve just jumped into a cozy pond filled with friendly fish.

    Always ready to assist and offer great recommendations, they ensure every dining experience is delightful. It is even better than a sunny day by the river.

    Our assigned server, Moy, was exceptional. But he wasn’t alone; the entire team worked together to ensure everyone was well attended to.

    Acapulco isn’t just a spot to eat; it’s a joyous celebration of authentic Mexican culture that fills your belly and warms your rubber ducky heart!

    With an extensive menu that has something for every taste bud, the friendly service sets a delightful vibe. It makes you feel like you’re cruising through good vibes and tasty fare!
