    As soon as you waddle through the doors of the Florida Welcome Center, you’re greeted with warm rays of sunshine (the literal kind, too, of course!) and the friendliest, most helpful staff around. They greet you with big smiles that are as bright as Florida’s sunny skies, ready to share insider tips on everything from local attractions to the best places to dine. It’s like having a cheerful buddy, ensuring your trip is top-notch!

    And let’s talk about one of my all-time favourite perks—free, fresh Florida orange and grapefruit juice. Imagine this: after a long drive, you’re sipping on this zesty nectar, feeling the sunshine dance on your taste buds. It’s like liquid sunshine in a cup! Plus, you can munch on some tasty snacks while soaking in the vibrant, welcoming environment. Who could resist that?

    Now, a tidy space is super important to me—after all, I am a rubber duck, and cleanliness is key! The Florida Welcome Center is not just spotless, it’s a shining example of cleanliness. The restrooms sparkle brighter than my rubbery exterior, and the whole area feels like a warm embrace. Their pride in cleanliness makes it a pleasant pit stop for everyone and reassures you that your visit will be comfortable and enjoyable.

    But that’s not all! The center is a treasure trove of fascinating displays showcasing Florida’s diverse culture, wild critters, and incredible history. You can immerse yourself in Florida’s many attractions, from racing to spacing, amusement parks, beaches, vibrant art festivals, and much more.

    National Corvette Museum – Bowling Green, Kentucky

    Bob here, reporting from my egg-citing adventure at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky!

    I couldn’t resist paddling over to dive into the dazzling world of America’s favourite sports car!

    Whistles and cheerful honking of horns greeted me in the lobby!

    It was a celebration fit for a Corvette superstar.

    A lucky new owner was picking up their sparkling blue ride right in the museum, not at the factory across the street.

    What a grand entrance!

    Everyone gathered around, clapping and cheering as the thrilled owner cruised off in their shiny pride and joy. 

    Once I float into the main halls of the museum, my rubbery eyes widen with joy.

    Corvettes galore glimmer like jewels from every decade! 

    Car enthusiasts buzz around like bees in a flower patch, and their excitement is utterly contagious!

    The museum takes visitors on a thrilling ride through Corvette history.

    Showcasing incredible design prototypes all the way to legendary models. 

    And boy, did I find a couple of faves that made my feathers ruffle joyfully!

    On The Way – Bowling Green, Kentucky National Corvette Museum

    Let’s dive right into the star of my show: the infamous ‘Ugly Duckling’ Corvette (officially known as the Corvette XP819 from 1964).

    Talk about a unique design! 

    This beauty didn’t make it to the production line. Perhaps its tail was too long or its nose too pointy!

    The ‘Ugly Duckling’ is a proud symbol of the Corvette’s history of daring to be different! 

    This quirky gem influenced the striking 1968 Corvette.  If you squint just right, you might see some family resemblance between us: both champions of individuality!

    Then there is the show-stopper: a bright red 1961 Corvette from country superstar Brad Paisley’s collection!

    Impeccably restored, it showcases the rich history and iconic design of the Corvette!

    The chrome accents shine under the lights and the interior – simply stunning with luxurious leather seats.

    Brad loves that car so much that even his tour bus is painted to match!

    Through interactive exhibits that brought Corvette history to life, I discovered the rich racing legacy and groundbreaking innovations behind the Corvette. 

    Did you know Corvettes are affectionately dubbed America’s sports car?

    After spending time at the Corvette Museum, I have to agree!

    And let’s not forget about the gift shop, what a treasure trove!

    After looking high and low for rubber duckies without any luck, I snagged a Matchbox Corvette to cuddle in my wings!

    The perfect souvenir to remember my quack-tastic time! 

    If you’re a car lover, a history buff, or love unique attractions, the National Corvette Museum is an absolute must-see!

    Don’t forget to show some love to the Ugly Duckling – it’s bursting with character and charm!

  • Buc-ee’s – Kentucky

    Buc-ee’s – Kentucky

    Today was a special day.  I took a giant leap into the bustling wonderland of Buc-ee’s!

    Rumour has it that some Buc-ee’s locations boast upwards of 100 gas pumps.

    Let me tell you, they weren’t kidding!  The line of pumps stretched as far as my little duck eyes could see.

    However, refuelling isn’t the only reason to stop at this rest area. Instead, buckle up for an adventure!

    As soon as I waddled through the entrance, I was welcomed into a vibrant world filled with exciting colours, delightful scents, and friendly smiles. 

    The sheer vastness of Buc-ee’s felt like stepping into an amusement park designed for roadtrippers!  It was a feast for the senses. I was ready to dive right in!

    Everywhere I looked, there were quirky, fun merchandise displays.

      The selection, from T-shirts to mugs, was as dazzling as a sunny afternoon on the pond.

    I was delighted to find a selection of Buc-ee Ducks, which made me feel right at home. 

    Of course, if you prefer the furry little beaver pals, those are also available.

    On The Way – USA - Kentucky Buc-ee’s

    The variety of snacks and merchandise at Buc-ee’s is truly a sight to behold.

    It’s like stepping into a treasure trove of delicious treats and unique souvenirs, each one more tempting than the last.

    Now, let’s dive into the most delectable part – snacks!  I’ve never seen such a cornucopia of tasty treats in one place.

    From freshly made fudge to a drool-worthy selection of beef jerky, there was something for everyone. 

    And the signature Buc-ee’s Beaver Nuggets – sweet, crunchy puffs like tiny clouds of joy!

    As a duck who values cleanliness, I was thrilled to discover that the restrooms at Buc-ee’s were pristine!

    Spotlessly clean and playfully decorated with beaver-themed decor, they were a cut above the rest.

    Even my furry friends have designated facilities complete with an exercise run for them to stretch their legs.

    How considerate!

    The staff was another highlight of my visit – friendly, welcoming, and enthusiastic.

    They seemed just as excited to share their recommendations as I was to explore.

    Their warm smiles and helpful advice made me feel truly welcomed.

    This place transcends the usual pit stop; it’s a destination in its own right!

    With its unique charm, mouthwatering snacks, and lively atmosphere, Buc-ee’s has undoubtedly secured a spot on my travel itinerary.

    Audrey’s Motel – Mound City, Missouri

    Bob here, soaking up the charm at Audrey’s Motel in Missouri, and let me tell you, it was quite the experience!

    The delightful duo of Hank and Mary own and operate Audrey’s Motel.

    Their passion for hospitality shines through every nook and cranny of this cozy establishment.

    They put their heart and soul into creating a welcoming atmosphere for all guests.

    As a rubber duck who knows a thing or two about comfort, I can appreciate that!

    Now, let’s talk about the cleanliness of the lobby and the rooms. I must say, I was highly impressed!

    They prioritize cleanliness here, which makes for a comfortable and pleasant stay, whether you’re a human or a rubber duck.

    I felt right at home as I floated around the bathroom sink.

    Speaking of pleasant experiences, the owners’ friendliness is truly unmatched.

    Hank and Mary greet guests with smiles and warmth, instantly making you feel like part of the family.

    They have so many life experiences to share. The time just slips away amidst the laughter and camaraderie.

    Their genuine kindness extends to everyone; however, there is a special place in Hank’s heart for bikers and veterans!

    One of the standout features of Audrey’s Motel is the unique room dedicated to John Deere tractors!

    The decor in that room is truly something to quack about. From Deere-themed artwork to bedspread patterns that would make any farmer proud, it’s a perfect homage to the beloved green machines. If you’re a fan of tractors – or want to experience something truly unique – this room is a must-visit!

    Hank is a life-time biker and Harley enthusiast. So, as you can imagine, riders are a welcome addition to Audrey’s Hotel.

    If you pull in on a motorcycle, an ice-cold beer will greet you at check-in!

    Hank will pull his Harley out and even act as a local tour guide around Mound City if he has time.

    There is no end to the riding stories that Hank has to share.

    I can’t forget to give a special shout-out to Hank and Mary’s dedication to veterans.

    Hank is a disabled American veteran who swells with pride for the United States and his contributions to freedom. They go above and beyond to honour others who have served our country.

    From special discounts to walls adorned with memorabilia celebrating their service, they have a heart for veterans.

    As a rubber duck who loves freedom, I truly admire the commitment to giving back to those who protect it.

    Audrey’s Motel is a gem in Missouri that I highly recommend to anyone. Choose it if you are looking for immaculate rooms, rider support, respect for veterans or owners on site to share their many passions.

    Best Western Ashland – Ashland, Wisconsin

    As we embarked on our journey from Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Ottawa, Ontario, we made a splash with a delightful stop in Ashland, Wisconsin. Being a seasoned traveller, I was excited for our planned stay at the Ashland Best Western, a favourite among my humans.

    At first, we paddled past the hotel a couple of times. It wasn’t until I quacked a little louder that they realized the Southern mansion-style building was indeed our destination. Talk about a quacking good surprise!

    It felt more like we were checking into a charming museum than a motel. The era-specific furnishings and nostalgic photos transported us back in time, sparking stories of days gone by.

    But don’t let the historical charm fool you – the room was equipped with all the modern comforts my humans love at Best Western. After a day of road travel, it was just what we needed for a peaceful night’s sleep.

    While my humans took a stroll, I floated alongside them, discovering a magical back porch overlooking Chequamegon Bay, right off Lake Superior. What a stunning view! With the shimmering waters in the background, I couldn’t help but quack in approval—it was the perfect photo op!

    Come morning, we were treated to a hearty, complimentary country-style breakfast. I watched as my humans dug into delicious pancakes and scrambled eggs, wishing I could join in. Sadly, our time in Ashland flew by, and soon we were back on the road, leaving behind the charm of the hotel and the beauty of the bay.

    But fear not! We plan to return in the summer. I can’t wait to make more waves at this unique Best Western. Until next time, Ashland! You can bet I’ll be quacking about our adventure for a long time to come!

    Hey there, fellow flavour fans! It’s me, Bob, your favourite rubber ducky, paddling into your hearts with a tale from one of the coziest nooks in Highland, Illinois—Blue Springs Cafe! If you’re on the hunt for a dining experience that wraps you in warmth and joy, you’ve just flapped your wings into the right spot. This charming eatery serves up not only scrumptious meals but also a heaping side of heartwarming hospitality!

    As soon as I quacked through the door of Blue Springs Cafe, it felt like slipping into a fluffy towel after an invigorating swim—pure bliss! The staff welcomed me like a long-lost pal, and I knew right away that this wasn’t just dinner; it was going to be a celebration of family, friends, and good food. They serve meals family-style, which means there’s plenty of deliciousness to share, just like a big, happy duck family!

    Now, let’s dive into the culinary delights! Oh, where to begin? We chose the fried cod, pan-fried walleye, and the chicken fried steak—each dish was a masterpiece! The fish was crispy on the outside and delightfully flaky inside, while the chicken fried steak was dripping with luscious white gravy that could make even a grumpy duck like me crack a smile. Now, that’s saying something!

    And hold onto your feathers, because the side dishes were an endless parade of yum! We had coleslaw, house-pickled beets, real mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, fluffy biscuits, and sweet apple butter. The variety was enough to make my little rubber heart dance! My human adored the beets—sweet, earthy, and downright delightful. It was as if the kitchen had conjured up a special dish just for us!

    But, oh dear, let’s not forget about the stars of the show: the mile-high pies! Seriously, these towering treats are taller than me! The meringue was like a fluffy cloud that you could lose yourself in. Even after devouring so much delectable food, we couldn’t resist boxing up a lemon meringue pie for later. My human has a sweet tooth for cherry pie, so she snagged a slice for our road trip ahead. Whether you fancy classic fruit pies or creamy delights that stand tall, these beauties are reason enough to veer off the interstate and indulge!

    So, if you find yourself navigating the waters of Highland, make sure to steer your boat towards Blue Springs Cafe! With its inviting atmosphere, friendly faces, and mouthwatering fare, it’s a true gem celebrating the joy of good food and great company.
