    Savour the Journey – Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri

    Have you ever paused to truly savour the journey?

    As a rubber duck on a motorbike adventure, I have a unique perspective, along for the ride with my human, Goldie, and their open-road curiosity.

    While reaching a destination is thrilling, it’s the journey that really makes the trip worthwhile!

    Recently, we set off for the Lake of the Ozarks Bike Fest in Missouri – all 17 hours of it!

    Just me, floating along in the wind, while Goldie revved up the engine for a weekend bursting with fun and frolicking.

    Now, let me take you down memory lane!

    You may recall some of our memorable stops along this route:

    discovering the quirky Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota

    enjoying the historical excellence at Arris’ Pizza in Jefferson City, Missouri

    indulging in authentic Mexican fare at Acapulco in Fargo, North Dakota

    marveling at BOB the Bridge in Omaha, Nebraska

    While we could have easily gotten lost in every roadside attraction, but we had somewhat of a schedule to keep.

    One of my favourite parts? Meeting some fantastic new friends along the journey!

    Quack-venture alert, we’re floating into Missouri!

    Let’s start by exploring the fascinating town of Hannibal, Missouri! As I dream of bobbing along the mighty Mississippi, I can hardly contain my excitement. 

    This lively river town is steeped in history, as it was the childhood home of the legendary Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain.

    I’m not just any rubber duck, I’m a history-loving quacker with a flair for fun!

    Hannibal is a treasure trove of attractions celebrating Twain’s legacy, and I can’t wait to splash into them all.

    Climb the 244 steps to the Mark Twain Memorial Lighthouse

    Initially built in 1935 to honour Twain’s 100th birthday and lovingly rebuilt in 1963, the view from the top is absolutely quackers!

    You’ll get a panoramic glimpse of Hannibal and the stunning Mississippi River, a sight that’ll make your feathers ruffle with delight!

    Visit Mark Twain’s boyhood home

    Stroll through the haunted museum to be unnerved

    The haunted museum showcases Hannibal’s intriguing history, complete with a cemetery right next door!

    It’s a perfect mix of spine-tingling and thrilling!

    Although Mark Twain and his quick witted humour are well celebrated in Hannibal, there is a never ending group of attractions to pique your interest!

    The Historic Downtown is the heart and soul of Hannibal

    Hannibal’s Historic Downtown is like a ducky paradise, bursting with excitement at every corner.

    This district offers nothing short of excitement and expedition as there are fun attractions at almost every corner in the area.

    Built in 1898, Rockcliffe Mansion is a masterpiece filled with ornate fireplaces, grand rooms, and antiques that transport you back in time.

    Truly a sight you have to see to believe!

    This interactive museum is packed with vintage toy trains and memorabilia from the golden age of railroading.

    For train enthusiasts, Big River Train Town is an absolute must-visit!

    Karlock Kars and Pop Culture is a quirky haven for anyone who adores jukeboxes, movie props, and vintage cars. It’s a delight for the senses, and trust me, you could spend hours exploring!

    After all that waddling, I know you’ll be ready to refuel!

    A local favourite is Becky Thatcher’s Diner!

    This no-frills eatery dishes up classic comfort food.

    Think fluffy pancakes,

    all day breakfast,

    and homemade cinnamon rolls!

    That’ll fuel you for all the adventures a duck (or a human) could dream of.

    Hannibal has an array of charming eateries, but our Bobber’s absolute favourite is Finn’s Food and Spirits. 

    Nestled in the heart of town, this cozy spot wraps you in a warm, friendly vibe, like a fluffy towel after a splashy swim!

    The artwork tells stories from Hannibal’s past, creating a lively atmosphere filled with laughter and chatter.

    Now let’s talk food! 

    Whether you’re craving a sizzling steak,

    just-caught fish,

    or wings that’ll make your feathers tingle, Finn’s has it all.

    And if you’re a burger lover, you’re in for a treat: Finn’s burgers are legendary!

    They even have seasonal specials to keep things fresh and exciting on each visit.

    Don’t forget to quench your thirst with an impressive selection of local brews and creative cocktails.

    I recommend trying a fruity drink to toast your river adventures, cheers to floating fun! 

    The staff at Finn’s are simply the best

    They treat everyone like family, complete with cheerful quacks and friendly smiles.

    And if the sun’s shining, grab a spot on the patio to sip your drink and watch the world go by. 

    It’s the perfect perch for a duck to sip a cocktail, bask, and watch the humans stroll by. Imagine: delicious food, a sparkling Mississippi, and the happy hum of Hannibal all around you.

    That’s what I call living the ducky dream!

    Plan to take a multi-day pause in Hannibal; there’s so much more to uncover. 

    But for now, it’s time to bid farewell to Missouri as we paddle down the Great River Road to Kentucky!

    Support Bikers Uranus Ride – Lake of the Ozarks to Uranus, Missouri

    Hey there, fellow riders! Get ready to rev those engines because I just had an unforgettable adventure with the Support biker group from Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, all the way to Uranus, Missouri!

    The mission of Support Bikers is to bring the biker community together by forming the largest online network accessible by anyone.

    Since its inception, the dynamic duo of Sonny and Angie have grown this network to over 80,000…what a great inspiration!

    With around 50 fellow bike enthusiasts in our convoy, the excitement was contagious as we rolled out of Lake of the Ozarks, the sun shining down on our journey.

    Our first stop? The hilarious Uranus Fudge Factory!

    What a sweet treat it was, both the fudge and the laughs! The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with laughter and the smell of delicious fudge wafting through the air. Everyone was in high spirits, taking photos and enjoying the playful vibes all around.

    After indulging our sweet tooth, we made our way to 28 Shots Bar and Grill for lunch.

    The food was fantastic, and sharing stories with fellow riders was the highlight of the meal.

    As we gathered around, the camaraderie among us was apparent.

    Igniting a sense of unity that only comes from being part of such a fantastic group.

    The best part of the ride?

    Knowing that the $685 in proceeds from our adventure were going to the Wrecked Rider Fund, supporting bikers who find themselves in tough times after accidents. It felt good to know we were making a difference while doing something we love.

    With our bellies full and our spirits high, we headed back to Lake of the Ozarks.

    The wind in our hair and the roar of the engines created a symphony of freedom on the open road. This ride was a beautiful reminder of why we come together as a community: an all-inclusive family of riders supporting one another.

    As I reflect on this fantastic day, I can’t help but dream of the next adventure waiting just around the bend.

    Until then, keep those wheels turning and the spirit of adventure alive!
