    4P Festival and Parade – Pine Falls, Manitoba

    Bob here to share a ride we did to the charming shores of Pine Falls, Manitoba for a motorcycle parade at their 4P Festival

    I’m here to share some fun facts about the Festival and its spectacular parade, an event that really makes waves in the community every September!

    The 4P Festival is not just any festival; it’s a vibrant celebration of the town’s heritage and the special things that make Pine Falls uniquely fabulous.

    The 4P’s stand for Power, Pickerel, Peas, and Paper, each telling a story as rich as the waters I bob around in!

    Power for the Pine Falls Generating Station

    Pickerel for the Walleye Capital of Manitoba

    Peas for the scrumptious St. George’s peas

    Paper for the mill, although closed, represents their history

    The 4P Festival takes place over the Labour Day long weekend, with a cozy family-reunion vibe.

    With more than 20 events throughout the weekend, there is something for everyone!

    Lively Beer Garden

    Chainsaw Competition

    And even more… Lego sculpture competition, pancake breakfast, car show, Kids’ play zone…you name it!

    We rode out to participate in the motorcycle parade to kick off the 4P Festival Parade!

    It winds through the streets on Sunday at noon.

    Our job was to ride our motorcycles through the parade route just before the actual parade to get everyone excited for what was to come.

    And of course to have fun!

    We did our job well, as the anxious parade crowd had fun getting to know me.

    Then it was time for the main event!

    Floats, vehicles, people and animals representing all community members!

    from schools and sports to casinos, pawn shops, restaurants, and community service vehicles.  The whole area was involved!

    We left shortly after the parade, so we didn’t get to enjoy the full 4P Festival, but I heard the crowd talking about a fishing tournament to close out the weekend.

    It sounded like that would be a highlight for everyone.

    The 4P Festival and Parade is the place to be over Labour Day Weekend!

  • S & S Moto Events – Throttle Thursdays

    S & S Moto Events – Throttle Thursdays

    Bob here to share my excitement about the amazing world of S&S Moto Events, run by the fabulous duo of Kari-Ann and Michelle.

    These two ladies have hearts as big as the Manitoba sky, fueled by their passion for riding and their mission to build a vibrant biker community.

    Some folks sit back and daydream about what they wish to see; others, like Kari-Ann and Michelle, dive right in and bring those dreams to life!

    Their untiring energy is contagious, and it brings bikers from all over Manitoba together as a close-knit family.

    With their three-pronged mission…

    Ride Together, Give Back, Make Memories

    …they’re on a roll!

    They support fundraisers, plan exhilarating weekend rides, promote special events, and host monthly gatherings where bikers forge friendships and share stories.

    I flapped my little wings with excitement when I got to attend the latest Throttle Thursday!

    These biking community get-togethers, held on the third Thursday of every month, aim to spotlight local eateries beyond the city limits.

    The first Throttle Thursday at Skinners in Lockport included about 12-15 participants who gathered at this Manitoba icon.

    My humans have made that ride down River Road many times, stopping at Skinners for one of their famous hot dogs.

    My humans couldn’t attend this event; however, they are sure everyone enjoyed both the food and the company.

    Then there was the S&S Moto Event descending upon Duke’s Burgers in Niverville on July 16th.

    The attendees more than doubled to about 27 bikes; talk about a flock of fabulous riders hitting the road!

    Sadly, my humans missed that ride too, but oh, the chatter about the tasty grub makes my beak water!

    Fast forward to the most recent Throttle Thursday on August 27 at Cedar and Main, and guess what?

    My humans finally made it! Well, for a short splash, anyway.

    Just long enough for me to see the camaraderie bubbling among the riders.

    Everyone was chatting about their adventures and catching up on summer fun, over some scrumptious bites from Cedar and Main, of course!

    Amid all the excitement was the fabulous S&S team, making sure everyone parked their shiny rides safely, welcoming everyone, and checking in to make sure they were having a splashing good time.

    It warmed my little rubber heart to see how dedicated these ladies were to making the biking community feel at home.

    As we left, I counted at least 39 bikes gathered, and I saw even more as we rode away!

    Motorcycle Awareness Ride 2026 – Winnipeg, Manitoba

    Spring has sprung in Winnipeg, Manitoba!

    The trees are all of a sudden in full bloom, the grass is green, the streets are cleaned up, and the buzz of motorcycles is in the air!

    As everything comes to life and everyone comes out of hibernation, humans are hopping back on their bikes.

    As the wind ruffles their hair, everyone needs a vital reminder that motorcycles are now part of the traffic, as well!

    We may be smaller than those roaring cars and hefty trucks, but we deserve a little love on the roads just as much!

    Every year, as biking season kicks off, the city puts on its best face!

    You’ll find all these catchy billboards popping up everywhere, on buses, buildings, you name it, blaring the message that bikes are back in action!

    But let’s face it, that’s just not enough.

    Just as humans need to brush up on navigating snow-covered roads, they also need a little refresher on coexisting with their two-wheeled friends come spring.

    The 2026 Motorcycle Awareness Ride, organized by the Winnipeg Motorcycle Riders Group, kicked off with an exhilarating spirit!

    But you know what?

    We gathered at the stadium parking lot on what turned out to be a chilly, wet day.

    Cold drizzle couldn’t dampen our excitement!

    Dedicated riders showed up, ready to shine the spotlight back on motorcycles for all of Winnipeg to see.

    The atmosphere near the Forks was electric as we prepared for our grand ride toward the Headingly Sports Shop.

    I felt the camaraderie in the air and the buzz of shared enthusiasm, even as raindrops tapped on our helmets.

    Reaching the Headingly Sports Shop was the cherry on top of a wonderfully adventurous day!

    Everyone devoured hot dogs, explored the latest bikes and accessories, and caught up about their off-season upgrades.

    Generous sponsors supported a raffle with proceeds going to the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter!

    I proudly perched on the unique bar fridge that included my name!

    What a beauty!

    Everyone gathered in excited anticipation as the tickets were drawn and the winners announced!

    A hearty congrats to Gail for her multiple wins!

    All in all, it was another successful kickoff to the motorcycle season, brimming with laughter, community spirit, and a shared love for riding.

    Huge thanks to Grace and the Winnipeg Motorcycle Riders Group for making this annual event so memorable!

    Here’s to many more adventures on the open road, where every ride brings a splash of joy!

  • Halloween Ride – Winnipeg, Manitoba

    Halloween Ride – Winnipeg, Manitoba

    On a crisp October day in 2025, I found myself in quite the unusual situation, sitting on Goldie dressed as a rubber duck…wait a minute, I am BOB…the rubber duck!

    The Winnipeg Motorcycle Group was gearing up for a Halloween ride, and it felt like the perfect time for a bit of adventure.

    The roar of motorcycles filled the air, creating a buzz of excitement.

    Riders decked out in wild costumes had transformed themselves and their bikes into a Halloween spectacle

    I was amazed by the creativity, from spiders and pumpkins to a skeleton hanging on for dear life.

    I might be just a rubber duck, but I appreciate some good creativity!

    The humans were dressed as pigs, ninjas, pumpkins…you name it!

    Even a mini-human Spiderman hopped on Goldie for a taste of riding.

    Many, such as my human, felt their biker attire was more than enough costume for this Halloween ride. 

    All were welcome, costume or not.

    We gathered at Kildonan Park on the North side of the city, where the energy was electric.

    I soaked up the festive atmosphere from my seat on Goldie and sometimes ventured out to mingle with the crowd.

    The air was filled with laughter as we prepared to hit the road.

    There was a little bit of sorrow in the air, as who knew if Mother Nature would make this the last ride of the season by bringing on winter to the Peg.

    As the engines revved and the ride officially began, I quacked with excitement. Our route took us through the heart of Winnipeg. We cruised down Main Street looking like a squad of spooky fun on wheels.

    Next up was St. Anne’s, leading us toward Fermor. The sun peeked through the clouds, making everything sparkle. I couldn’t help but picture all the little ducks watching us from their ponds, wishing they could join our Halloween adventure.

    As we rolled into Harley-Davidson, I could hardly contain my excitement. It wasn’t just about the motorcycles; it was about the bonds we form and the good times we share that make these rides cherished moments of the motorcycle season.

    At Harley Davidson, we all gathered around, swapping stories about our favourite parts of the ride and of the season.

    This was more than just a bunch of bikes; it felt like a family of riders bonded by the love of the ride and Halloween spirit.

    The travelling food vendors were on site, serving casual fare to humans as they sat around sharing laughs and stories.

    I couldn’t help but feel grateful.

    From the thrilling rides through Winnipeg’s colourful streets to the warmth of friendships, this day was all about fun and fearlessness.

    So whether you’re a tough biker or a rubber duck riding along, remember:

    every journey gets better with a dash of creativity, a whole lot of laughs, and of course, some tasty food to finish it off.

    Brightwater Senior Living Center – Winnipeg, Manitoba

    Friendship Show and Shine

    Who would’ve guessed that my human riding Goldie to visit his dad at the Brightwater Senior Living Center would kickstart an unforgettable show and shine hosted by the Winnipeg Motorcycle Group?

    Life sure knows how to surprise us!

    Picture this: it was an early Spring Day, and Goldie was gleaming under the sun as my human revved her up for a ride.

    As we rolled into Brightwater, I could see residents soaking up the sunshine, and they just lit up when my humans took off our helmets.

    That’s when they finally recognized us as familiar faces, and the excitement began!

    In no time, a crowd began to form around Goldie. Everyone wanted a photo with the beautiful bike!

    The director of Brightwater strolled over to see what the buzz was all about.

    Between her and my humans, a brilliant idea took flight: let’s plan an event to bring in more motorcycles and involve even more residents and staff!

    My human’s dad found his cozy new digs there in October 2024, thanks to some family sleuthing that pointed to it being the perfect spot, especially for those needing a little extra care.

    At first, Dad felt a bit down about leaving his home, but the warm welcomes from staff and other residents quickly turned his frown upside down.

    He has become quite the popular guy, making friends and enjoying tasty lunches at the on-site restaurant.

    He even works up a sweat by exercising on the second floor and enjoying happy hour at Club 365!

    And the special events? Oh, they’re a total blast!

    Now, enter the show and shine: a fantastic addition to the lineup of exciting events!

    When we rolled in, the roar of our engines announced our arrival, and out came the residents, delighted and curious.

    They absolutely flocked around us, eager to learn everything about the motorcycles and cars on display.

    It warmed my little rubber heart to see them climbing onto Goldie for photos, sharing laughs, and enjoying the camaraderie of the day.

    Can you believe that the staff had laid out a feast of hot dogs and drinks for all to share!

    It felt like one big family reunion!

    With the bikers fueled up and the residents getting tired, we wrapped up the event.

    As the residents waved goodbye, they made us promise to return next year.

    Next time, we plan to bring along more friends on a Sunday when everyone has more free time.

    This year, we had about 20 motorcycles and a couple of cars; next year, the leader of the Winnipeg Motorcycle Group thinks we’ll have over 200!

    What a joyful day for everyone involved, full of laughter, warmth, and memories that will last a lifetime!

    Trans Canada and Highway 105 – Winnipeg, Manitoba to Perrault Falls, Ontario

    Who would have thought that a simple invite for a Labour Day weekend ride could lead to one of the most epic motorcycle journeys to Northwestern Ontario?

    Well, that’s exactly what happened to my humans when they got a message from the amazing Kari-Anne Leatherwood. She was looking for fellow riders to join her on a Saturday adventure, and they couldn’t resist!

    Now, let’s be real for a second. When they realized it was a whopping 3.5 hours each way, they had a moment of concern. That sounded pretty ambitious for a day trip. But with the riding season in Manitoba winding down, they quickly decided that this was an opportunity not to be missed!

    Bright and early, they set off from Winnipeg at 8:00 am, ready for the day ahead.

    It was a brisk morning, but once they got to Richer, Manitoba, by 9:30, they shook off the chill. They greeted their motley crew: five bikes, nine humans, and yours truly, Bob the Rubber Duck. I was perched proudly on my perch, ready for the adventure of the day!

    As we roared eastward on the Trans-Canada Highway 1,

    driving through Falcon Lake

    and crossing into Ontario,

    the scenery transformed from sprawling prairie farmland

    to the breathtaking beauty of lakes and forests.

    Ah, cottage country!

    We continued our journey on Highway 17,

    passing Kenora and heading toward Vermillion Bay.

    Just East of Vermillion was the turn-off for Highway 105 North.

    This road was a true enthusiast’s paradise!

    The curves were long and slow. The views were so jaw-dropping that I almost lost my quack. Bikers often say it’s not what you ride, it’s that you ride. But trust me, sometimes it is where you ride that makes a difference. 

    This twisty road enhanced every bit of the experience.

    When you spot the shift from deer crossing signs to moose crossing warnings, you know you’ve truly entered the wild! It’s no surprise this region is a paradise for hunters and anglers alike.

    With shimmering lakes, dense forests, and cozy lodges nestled along the way, the allure of the backcountry keeps outdoor enthusiasts returning year after year.

    The call of the wild is strong here, offering adventures and memories just waiting to be made.

    About an hour into this exhilarating ride, north on Highway 105, something magical happened.

    We began to catch a whiff of smoked meat wafting through the air. My little rubber nose could hardly handle the excitement! Just ahead, we spotted a bright yellow building with giant smokers puffing away. We had arrived at The Whiskey Jack Restaurant and Tavern in Perrault Falls, Ontario!

    Everyone was ready for a break, and after some lively conversation and a couple of beverages, we dove into an amazing feast of smoky goodness. There were ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and turkey. Stay tuned for my full review of The Whiskey Jack. Let’s just say it’s a dining experience worth every mile from Winnipeg!

    After an hour of indulging and sharing laughs, it was time to saddle up for the return journey. The thrill of the ride home was just as exhilarating as the way there.

    With the sun beginning to dip, we cruised back to Winnipeg. We arrived at 7:30 pm with tired butts and grins that stretched from wingtip to wingtip.

    What a day! The weather was perfect, the food was divine, and the connections made with fellow riders added an extra layer of joy.

    I can’t wait for the next adventure!

    Motorcycle Awareness Ride – Winnipeg, Manitoba

    Oh, what a chilly December it is!

    While my humans are bundled up inside, dreaming of the open roads, I’m stuck here in the garage next to Goldie, who is just shivering away, longing for the warmth of Spring in Manitoba.

    Ah, Spring! The time when the city wakes up, and humans hop back on their bikes.

    But you know, it’s not just about the wind in their hair and the thrill of the ride—it’s about reminding everyone out there that we’re part of the traffic too!

    Little ol’ bikes like Goldie might be smaller than cars and trucks, but that doesn’t mean we don’t deserve some love on the roads.

    Every year, as the biking season kicks off, catchy billboards popping up everywhere reminding everyone that bikes are back!

    But unfortunately, that’s just not enough.

    Just like humans need to remember how to navigate snow-covered roads in winter with their cars, they need a refresher on how to coexist with bikes once spring rolls around.

    Enter the Winnipeg Motorcycle Riders Group!

    They take road safety seriously, after all, when a bike gets into a tangle, it’s not a good day for the rider or the ride!

    Every Spring, Grace leads the Winnipeg Motorcycle Group in organizing the Motorcycle Awareness Ride.

    This event is like a big family reunion for bikers, attracting a massive crowd of at least 200 riders who gather, share stories, and ride through the city together, eventually ending up at a neat spot for food, games, and a charity raffle!

    I vividly remember May 2025. We were there, all revved up and excited at Princess Auto on the East side of the city.

    The vibe was electric as we gathered to reconnect before hopping onto Goldie for a thrilling ride through the city on the Trans-Canada Highway.

    Destination – the Headingly Sports Shop just outside the West perimeter in Headingly, Manitoba.

    Horns were honking in support, creating a beautiful symphony of excitement as everyone signalled that the bikes were back in town!

    When we arrived at Headingly Sports Shop, it felt as welcoming as a summer breeze!

    Grace had pulled out all the stops: food truck, hot dog cart, axe-throwing, and fabulous raffle prizes!

    We raised a staggering amount for charity, increased awareness about bikes on the road, and strengthened the bonds within our motorcycle community.

    Now, as the snowflakes fall gently outside, I can’t help but smile, dreaming of the adventures that await….May 2026, here we come!

    I can hardly wait to join my motorcycle friends, feel the thrill of the open road, and spread the word that we’re back in action!

    So here’s to warmth, wheels, and the wonderful world of biking!
