    My humans and I were out on a full-day motorcycle ride when we happened upon Jake’s Corner Bar in Jake’s Corner, Arizona.

    Perched in the heart of this tiny, friendly community, Jake’s Corner Bar is a perfect blend of rustic charm and rich local culture.

    As we parked the bikes, we were greeted by folks nested on the porch for an afternoon beverage or two.

    Locals shared hearty laughter and swapped tales while the smell of delicious bar food wafted through the air.

    I was immediately struck by the warm, inviting atmosphere.

    My humans and I felt right at home among the lively patrons. They welcomed us with open arms and were eager to share their favourite bar stories and local legends.

    Jake’s Corner has a rich history dating back to the late 1800s.

    Originally a stagecoach stop, it has transformed into a beloved watering hole. Over the years, it has seen its fair share of colourful characters and vibrant events.

    It felt like I was soaking in the spirit of generations past, and oh, how I wished I could chat with those old spirits!

    Jake’s Corner Bar is a legend in its own right. It has served the community and travellers for over 100 years, offering each an unparalleled welcome and unforgettable memories. 

    Motorcycle enthusiasts frequent Jake’s as a welcome stop during an exhilarating ride around the Roosevelt Lake area.

    The walls are adorned with memorabilia that tell the story of a place where time stands still.

    We could have spent hours just reading the notes on the dollar bills stapled to the walls and ceiling.

    One bright green sign caught our attention: “Chicken SH– Bingo.” Naturally, we had to investigate!

    We learned that Chicken Sh– Bingo is a hysterical twist on the game.

    Wherever it decides to… well, you get the idea; that’s adorned spot wins the prize!

    The laughter was infectious, as we learned that this hysterical form of bingo draws a crowd. Because of that, it makes for unforgettable evenings filled with fun and camaraderie.

    The bar was alive with tales of past adventures.

    The friendly bartender eagerly recommended her favourite drinks: everything from cold beers to delightful cocktails!

    I could have easily spent the entire evening there, soaking in the camaraderie and local culture.

    In just an hour, I discovered that Jake’s Corner Bar is more than a place to grab a drink; it’s a genuine slice of Arizona life, brimming with character and connection.

    The sense of community in this delightful corner of Arizona made this pit stop truly memorable.

    Los Gringos Locos – Apache Junction, Arizona

    As I settled into a cozy corner on the patio at Los Gringos Locos in Apache Junction, Arizona, I could already sense that we were in for something special.

    With vibrant decorations celebrating Mexican culture and the tantalizing aromas wafting from the kitchen, I knew this stop would be a feast for the senses!

    The colourful surroundings only added to the excitement.

    The friendly staff greeted us with enthusiastic smiles that could light up any cloudy day.

    They treated me like royalty, showing me around and pausing for a photo ops.

    I absolutely love making friends, and I quickly found one in Gabby!

    A spirited team member who became an official BOBBER and shared one of her favourite BOBortunities with me.

    The connection was instantaneous; it was like we were destined to be pals!

    Los Gringos Locos opened in 1995, and the restaurant quickly became a local favourite.

    It charmed the community with its warm atmosphere and dedication to authentic Mexican cuisine.

    As you sat on the patio surrounded by greenery, it was hard to believe you were in the middle of town.

    Now, let’s talk about the food!

    Our server dropped off a huge serving of fresh tortilla chips with a side of delectable salsa for my humans to enjoy while they pondered all the great menu choices.

    One of my humans dove into a taco salad with shredded beef.

    The salad was a colourful masterpiece.

    Piled high with fresh veggies, crunchy lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and zesty onions mixed with tender, marinated beef.

    Every bite was like a fiesta in his mouth!

    My other human opted for the fish tacos.

    Imagine perfectly grilled fish and a medley of fresh veggies.

    Then, my human squeezed some lime juice on top, making each bite of the taco feel like a sun-soaked beach vacation.

    It was refreshing and bursting with flavour!

    As I floated back in my seat, watching my humans enjoy their meals, I felt a sense of belonging.

    With every laugh and taste, it was clear that Los Gringos isn’t just a restaurant. Instead, it is a place where friendships are formed, stories are shared, and every guest leaves with a smile.

    As we wrapped up our meal, I gave Gabby my best rubber duck nod of appreciation for the incredible experience.

    IN-N-OUT BURGER – Tucson, Arizona

    A bright red and yellow sign gleamed ahead: IN-N-OUT Burger!

    Cruising through Tucson, Arizona, on our way to the Titan Missile Museum, my human’s stomach started to rumble.

    He figured this funky burger joint would be just the quick fix he needed.

    Little did we know, this wouldn’t just be any ordinary pit stop!

    IN-N-OUT Burger is unlike any quick-service burger spot we’ve been to.

    The moment we stepped inside, a friendly associate greeted us at the door, holding it open with a smile.

    It felt as if I were on a red carpet, all thanks to the amazing team at IN-N-OUT.

    Everything about the place radiated warmth and genuine hospitality you rarely find in quick-service spots.

    The team gathered around, taking me on a quick tour even in a very busy time.  I felt like a team member as I donned the red-and-white signature cap.

    They helped my human navigate the menu, seeing as this was his first visit to one of their locations.

    My human’s taste buds were doing a happy dance as he was presented with the tastiest burgers and golden crispy fries imaginable.

    Watching him devour that mouthwatering feast was a sight to behold.

    Each bite was bursting with fresh flavour!

    We had not been aware of IN-N-OUT Burger prior to our visit – this place is a legend!

    IN-N-OUT Burger was born on October 22, 1948, when Harry and Esther Snyder opened their first location in California.

    Over the decades, this little burger joint has grown into a beloved chain, with over 425 locations across 10 states.

    Family-Owned since inception!

    Lynsi, the granddaughter of the Snyder family, is currently at the helm, leading the charge to maintain their family values at every location.

    Each IN-N-OUT location prides itself on quality, ensuring that every meal consists of fresh, never-frozen ingredients delivered weekly.

    The fries are hand-cut from whole potatoes, and everything is prepared with care by dedicated Associates who bring that signature smile to every interaction.

    My experience at IN-N-OUT Burger wasn’t just about filling our bellies; it was an exhilarating journey marked by delightful smiles, scrumptious food, and a vision of a brand that remains true to its roots amid its tremendous growth.

    Hats off (or caps on!) to the family behind IN-N-OUT Burger for mastering the delicate balance of tradition and expansion.

    Sometimes the best experiences come when you least expect them!

    In our travels, if there is an In-N-Out Burger location on route, you can bet we will stop by!

    Onyx Ice Cream – Phoenix, Arizona

    Bob here to tell you about my delightful adventure to Onyx Ice Cream in Phoenix, Arizona.

    It all began on a sunny day outside Mesa. My fellow wanderers and I decided to search for the best ice cream nearby.

    We asked Google for directions, and wouldn’t you know it, we were sent on a 34-minute drive to a place called Onyx in Phoenix!

    I am sure there are hundreds of great options along that distance. Nevertheless, we decided to listen to Google and embark on the journey to Phoenix.

    What a great decision that turned out to be!

    As we arrived at Onyx, we were greeted by the warm vibes of a unique little parlour. The alluring aroma of freshly brewed coffee created a welcome greeting.

    I know you are thinking, we came for ice cream, but we could not smell the ice cream.

    Onyx also doubles as a specialty coffee house.

    This gem is the brainchild of a fellow Canadian named Jon from Kitchener, Ontario.

    Just two years prior, he made the leap to the sunny Southwest, determined to carve out a niche in the ice cream world. And oh, did he succeed!

    Onyx is not your typical ice cream shop; it radiates a creative flair that makes it stand out in the bustling scene.

    Jon envisioned something a bit different, and you can taste his dedication and passion.

    The flavours at Onyx are innovative and delightful. In fact, there is a mix of daring combinations that’ll make your taste buds dance with joy!

    There were four flavours on tap when we walked in that afternoon.

    My humans chose the Sea Salt and the Ube.

    They decided on a cone rather than a bowl, and then Jon asked if they wanted it with the torched marshmallow cream.

    They had no clue what that meant but trusted his judgment to give them the full experience, so sure.

    Jon picked up one of their homemade black waffle cones.

    Spread marshmallow cream around the top two inches of the cone.

    Then his handy blow torch sprang into action, and VOILA, the ice cream experience just became more elevated.

    My humans were thrilled with their flavour choices, which hit the spot perfectly on a beautiful day in Phoenix.  And the SMORE-like cone, what an incredible touch!

    The atmosphere at Onyx is inviting, with a chic design that enhances the experience.

    The thoughtfulness toward family-friendly mixed with social media photo ops, all while staying on brand, is amazing.

    You can enjoy your ice cream in their chic indoor space. Alternatively, you can grab a picnic blanket and head out to the courtyard for a little family or romantic picnic.

    Bottom line: Onyx Ice Cream was worth every minute of that drive from Mesa.

    Jon has created a true ice cream experience that goes beyond mere cold treats!

    It’s a celebration of creativity and flavour that will leave you quacking for more.

    Oynx is definitely a repeatable BOBortunity!
