    Monkey Jungle – Miami, Florida

Who can resist a place full of curious creatures, leafy trails, and plenty of monkey business?

The park opened in 1933, when Joseph DuMond set out to create a tropical home where monkeys could roam, and humans could observe.

That’s something to quack about: helping protect wildlife while teaching visitors why these animals matter.

After DuMond died in the 1970s, his family carried on his dream; later, new owners brought fresh ideas to the park.

Through every chapter, Monkey Jungle has kept its doors open to curious visitors and its branches ready for monkeys.

I bobbed along, eyes wide, trying not to laugh every time a monkey pulled off a daring tree-to-tree dash.

While the monkeys roam free throughout the acreage, the humans walk along caged pathways.  Certainly not your traditional zoo!
