Habanos Oceanfront Dining Restaurant – Islamorada, Florida

Bob here to update you on an ocean of flavor at Habanos Oceanfront Dining in beautiful Islamorada, Florida! This fabulous restaurant is perched on the water and offers diners a feast for the eyes and taste buds.

In the bubbling beginnings of Habanos, something magical was simmering—delicious flavors just waiting for a splash of excitement!  That’s when Eduardo, the American with a heart full of Cuban spirit, and Jorge, the culinary wizard from Cuba, decided to team up.  Together, they set off on a wild adventure to reinvent this tasty treasure. With their love for all things delicious and a sprinkle of respect for Cuba’s colorful culture, they transformed into a fabulous fiesta of Cuba’s culinary delights!

As I floated in the delightful atmosphere, surrounded by friendly faces, I couldn’t wait to dive into their culinary wonders.

I decided to indulge in two truly knock-your-flippers-off dishes: the conch steak dinner and the majestic lobster tail dinner. Both were reasonably priced for the quality and quantity of food served.

Let’s start with the conch steak—it was an absolute showstopper!  Tender and perfectly cooked, the seasoning was a burst of brightness that let the conch’s natural flavor shine like a sunbeam on the water. It came with a colorful side of crispy fries, plantains, and yuca fries—oh my quack, what a delightful mix of textures! Each bite was like a tropical party in my beak.

Let’s not forget the lobster tail, which was as fresh as a morning tide! It was grilled to perfection and lusciously paired with a rainbow of fresh veggies, which added a crunchy crunch to the whole experience.  And guess what?  Those yuca fries stole the spotlight again!  Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside—perfection!

I must give a special shout-out to our server, Luis! This gentleman knows how to make a duck feel welcome.  His attentive service and enthusiasm for each dish made our meal even more enjoyable.  The entire Habanos team radiated warmth and hospitality, making me feel special and thrilled we stopped by on our way back from the Florida Keys.

It’s a top-notch dining destination with remarkable dishes, a friendly team, and a view that’s enough to make any duck quack with joy.

I can’t wait to return and taste another round of their incredible offerings—who knows what other delicious surprises await?

Remember, reservations are always a good idea, especially during peak hours.  Until next time, keep those feathers fluffed and your appetite ready!  Quack-tastic dining awaits!

So, picture this: it was a glorious afternoon as I was enjoying the ride with my humans on their trusty motorcycle, Goldie. We had just made our way from Fort Myers to Florida City when we rode over road debris, which seemed to be no issue. However, my human noticed that the tire was slowly deflating. Now, I might be just a rubber duck, but I know a motorcycle isn’t going anywhere without its tires! Our grand adventure suddenly faced a major detour.

Upon our arrival, we were greeted with the warmest smiles and an atmosphere that bubbled with enthusiasm.

The staff treated my human like royalty, even for just a tire change! I could only imagine how they’d roll out the red carpet for someone buying a new bike!

As we shared our plight, the amazing service team jumped into action. I was hopping with excitement at their efficiency! They informed us they had the exact tire we needed in stock—talk about luck!

My human was swiftly taken to the service area, and I watched in awe as the technicians worked with a skill that resembled a finely-tuned orchestra. It was like a NASCAR pit stop! In no time at all, they had that tire replaced and the bike back in shape.

Before I knew it, we were back on the road, ready for new adventures! The friendly customer representatives sent us off with a wave and a few helpful tips for our journey. Honestly, you couldn’t ask for a better experience.

In summary, my visit to JM Honda in Miami was nothing short of quacking awesome! The exceptional service and friendly team transformed a potentially stressful situation into a delightful adventure.

  • Port Charlotte to Gulf Beaches Area – Florida

Port Charlotte to Gulf Beaches Area – Florida

Quack, quack! Feathered friends, get ready to buckle up for an adventure like no other! It’s Bob here, your trusty sidekick, and I’m thrilled to share the exhilarating day I had cruising the stunning roads of Florida with the legendary Badger Crew!

On Monday, February 17, Sonny (da Badger), the wonderful Angie (Momma Badger), delightful Debby (GMA Badger), and the ever-wise Gene (GPA Badger) took my humans and me on a day that was nothing short of extraordinary!

Our journey kicked off in sunny Port Charlotte, where the air was electric with the thrill of adventure and a hint of that delicious, salty sea breeze. The stunning Florida scenery, with its vibrant colors and picturesque landscapes, was a sight to behold. With spirits high, we set out from our meeting spot, eager to soak in the sights.

Our first stop was in nearby Punta Gorda, where we were lucky enough to find a hidden treasure: Fresco!  This charming café served up coffee that could flow through rivers and pastries that were practically legendary.

We feasted on decadent quiche and sweet treats while catching up and sharing laughter. With satisfied bellies, we were ready to embrace the open road!

As we revved up our engines, I nestled comfortably on the back of Goldie. The sun warmed my feathery form as we took off, and the exhilarating roar of the bikes blended perfectly with the sound of ocean waves in the background. Riding along the coastline was pure magic—each turn revealing breathtaking views of glistening waters that danced joyfully in the sunlight. I couldn’t help but quack in delight as the wind ruffled my rubbery feathers!

While cruising, we couldn’t ignore the aftermath of the recent hurricane. It was striking and humbling to see the remnants of nature’s fury, with boarded-up buildings and scattered palm trees telling tales of resilience. We took moments to pause and reflect at various locations along the beach, witnessing the unwavering spirit of the community as volunteers worked tirelessly to clean up the area. It was a profound reminder of how strong and united people can be in the face of adversity.

Continuing our journey, we stumbled across incredible sand peaks formed by the hurricane’s fierce winds. These majestic structures stood tall like nature’s very own sculptures, and we pulled over to take a little break. The Badgers shared fascinating stories steeped in the area’s history before the storms, enlightening us to how even majestic houses were transformed from white to tan by the sand. I floated around, striking my best rubber duck poses for the photos—this was one for the memory books!

Our next stop was the vibrant Fort Myers Beach!

As we parked our motorcycles, I hopped off, ready to explore the lively scene.

The beach was abuzz with laughter, music, and the soothing sound of waves crashing.

We took a stroll along the shore, feeling the warm sand between our toes.

Of course, I couldn’t resist capturing a quacky selfie against the breathtaking ocean backdrop from the iconic Fort Myers Beach Bridge!

After all that exploring, our appetites kicked in like a well-tuned engine.  We headed to Smokin’ Oyster Brewery, where the tantalizing aromas of delectable spices filled the air.  We indulged in mouthwatering seafood and refreshing beverages, and I bobbed along to the lively music, soaking in every moment.  Laughter echoed through our meal, making it a perfect opportunity to relax and recharge for the journey ahead.

With our hearts full of joy and our bellies satisfied, we explored a little more in Fort Myers Beach.

Eventually, we headed to the bikes and hopped back on for the ride to the Badger’s den.

Now, what would a great motorcycle ride be without a few traffic jams?  Even baking in the heat as we worked our way through traffic was enjoyable for this rubber duck that hails from the chilly Winterpeg, Manitoba.

As we rolled back into Port Charlotte, I couldn’t help but reflect on the wonderful day we had. A huge thank you to the Badgers for being the most fantastic biking buddies a rubber duck could ask for! Your expert navigation and care kept us together and safe, ensuring we all shared in this beautiful adventure. I truly felt special and cherished, and it’s clear that with the Badger Crew, every ride is a memorable one. Our bond and shared experiences make us more than just fellow riders – they make us a family of adventurers.

So, until our next escapade, keep your feathers fluffy and your adventures wild! Quack on, my friends!

The fries were perfectly seasoned, making this the ultimate comfort food for a rubber duck like me. It’s like they were made for a beach day!

And let’s talk drinks, my feathery friends! We ordered a Key Lime Colada, and in a twist of fate, they accidentally doubled the fun with extra rum!  This smooth tropical delight was a splash of refreshment that had us singing tunes of joy – what a quack-tastic vibe! We toasted to friendship, food, and fabulous times as I bobbed happily on the table.

But wait, the cherry on top of this beachy sundae was the fantastic staff. They greeted us with smiles as warm as the sun and made sure we felt like the VIPs we truly are. Our server was a treasure trove of menu knowledge, guiding us through our feast with enthusiasm that made my rubbery heart swell with joy.

It’s your favorite floaty friend, Bob, here to share my delightful experience at Fresco Bakery in Punta Gorda, Florida, where I had the pleasure of meeting up with the Badger Crew for a morning of pastries and coffee before our thrilling motorcycle ride.

My biggest surprise: A wine room tucked away in the corner of the dining area! Now, I’m just a rubber duck, but I could see the glimmer in one of my human’s eyes as they browsed the selection. Maybe a little too early for bubbly for us, but an interesting find!

For those who prefer a savory start to the day, the quiches are a must-try. Packed with fresh ingredients and baked to golden perfection, they provided just the right amount of fuel for our upcoming ride.

Of course, what’s a bakery without coffee? Fresco offers an array of artisanal brews, from rich espressos to creamy lattes. I must say, the Badger Crew raved about coffee as it warmed their souls—it was the perfect pick-me-up for a sun-drenched Florida morning. As I bobbed along on the table, I couldn’t resist the temptation to indulge in a little sip (okay, just a tiny splash) of the coffee.

Besides the delectable pastries and coffee, Fresco also offers a variety of bread, including artisanal loaves and baguettes, perfect for those looking to take a piece of the bakery home. If you’re in the mood for something sweet to take with you, their selection of cookies, like the classic chocolate chip and the oat peanut butter, is simply irresistible!
